Door Doctor West / Arizona's Garage Door Doctor

After reviewing garage door service providers on Angie’s List I decided to call Arizona Door Doctor in Tempe. They answered on the fourth ring and I described my problem to them. They were very friendly and responsive to my needs. After giving me a ballpark estimate of costs and options for the job I agreed to hiring them. They said they had a service technician in my area and asked if they could arrive within the hour. I was pleased and agreed. The tech (Ryan) actually arrived at my home within 30 minutes. He reviewed the job and gave me cost options for the repairs. I agreed it made sense to replace both springs rather than just the broken one since they were both 20 years old. The repairs only took an hour. But what really pleased me was the little “extras” that they did above and beyond the repair at no additional charge. Specifically they adjusted the sensitivity on my garage door opener ,which had been causing my door to auto reverse occasionally during winter months. In addition he lubricated all of the roller bearings and hinges on the entire door and never even mentioned it. The door now operates as well as it did when it was brand new. You simply cannot ask for any better service than what I received from the AZ Door Doctor. I am very pleased and would highly recommend them to anyone period!

I originally called Magnum but they have merged into AZ Garage Door Doctor. My opener was old and had stopped recognizing the remote. I bought a new opener from Lowe's (Chamberlain) and had them install it. They also reinforced the doors with metal strips. They were efficient and professional and I thought the price they quoted was reasonable.

My 16 year-old garage door ceased functioning yesterday evening. I called AZ Door Doctor this morning. Within an hour, Tim arrived at my home, diagnosed the problems, and gave me an estimate of what it would cost to make the necessary repairs. He also offered options for size of motor, etc. Ended up replacing the motor, springs, rollers, and bottom seal. After I made the choices, Tim completed his work in under 2 hours. Everything is now working properly. A fair price, quick and excellent service. I will not hesitate to call AZ Door Doctor should I have need of service in the future.

I had an issue afterwards and the technician came out right away and took care of the problem with no charge.

Well. Took 30 minutes. Very professional with tips to keep it healthy.

Went well. At first I thought I was being unsold. I still think so, but I do not know enough about Door spring shaft bearings and the tech asked for the bearings because he wanted to play a joke on a friend. Very suspicious.

The job was done quickly n efficiently. Tenants were happy.

Stated that they don't do all brands and refused to help.

Received my window inserts the same day I called. Awesome.

They came right out. They did good work. They knew what they were doing. I do remember that the service call was $25 and they were to deduct that from the cost of the repair. I thought the price was a little high. I would consider using them again, but I would want more information on the specific cost beforehand.

Because of the age of my garage door, they had to remove the bottom section and replace it with a newer piece, so that they could put a new universal rubber seal on. It was fine, I thought he did a great job. He included a free tune-up on my garage door because they didn't have the proper part that was needed.

This rating is for the maintenance portion of the work. The repair person was on time and courteous, quickly found the source of the problem and corrected it. HOWEVER, during the maintenance process he sprayed grease/lubricant on side walls and ceiling - finished garage. Contacted them two weeks ago and provided pictures of the mess, I was told the manager would get back to me....called back and sent several emails...still no reply. I started the cleaning process, unfortunately the walls and ceiling will need to be re-primed and painted. Will not use or recommend them again!

Great. Showed up on time, work done as promised. Very satisfactory job.

They came out on a Sunday, were very nice, did not try to sell me on extras, and gave a fair price. I asked them to come back to quote for an entire new garage and they made the appointment to meet my schedule. I recommend them.

They did a very good job. The guy that answered the phone was rude and condescending but the guys that came out couldn't be more helpful.

Our garage door opener started not working. I called on a Sunday afternoon and was set up with an appointment the following morning. It was decided that the old opener had a short in it, so I decided to have a new one installed. It was installed quickly and efficiently. Our cars were also programmed with the new remote. This appointment went fairly quickly and I was very pleased with the results. I would definitely recommend this company.

My garage door's main torsion tube based spring failed and I needed to obtain a replacement. I contacted the manufacturer and original contractor that installed the door to schedule a repair, but the lead time for the service call was over a week. That said, the manufacturer/contractor very clearly quoted me a specific price for labor and parts involved so I knew what the costs would be. As an alternate, I contacted this company based on the numerous positive reviews and ratings being shown on this site. Boy, what a mistake! Door Doctor West/Arizona's Garage Door took my initial call and confirmed they would be able to schedule a visit the next day. After mentioning that I located the company via Angie's list, the scheduler that I spoke with explicitly stated that the usual $65 service fee would be waived. There was no mention by this individual of a key dependency on actual repairs being made in order to enjoy that "discount" as a valued Angie's list subscriber. I went on to specifically ask about estimated costs tied to the replacement of the spring and for this provider's ability to service a garage door of my particular make and model. The representative was unclear and convoluted in their answer to the question, indicating that part costs varied depending on various factors. But that they could indeed service and support my particular door manufacturer. -Fair enough. But, having a quote already in hand from another the door manufacturer's dealer in hand I felt confident the costs would be in line (or at the very least I could negotiate to a reasonable price). The technician showed up on time, took a 30 second look at the door without so much as taking a single measurement and concluded what I already knew - the spring was broken. At this point I was given the rundown of options and costs associated with replacement or repair. Both of these options carried with them out the door costs that were significantly more expensive than my other quotations. 60% higher for the non-manufacturer certified replacement option carrying with it an unknown lead time, and a whopping 78% higher for the "conversion" option that conveniently could be done on the spot without scheduling another call. These estimates were way out of line with the other quotation, and I declined them both on the grounds of cost. Furthermore, it was clear based on the description of the two options that neither one was actually truly compatible with my door manufacturer make and model -a realization that negated the phone representative?s assurance mentioned above. At this stage the technician explained that his visit was indeed going to cost $65 and that I would have to pay it just for the privilege of him spending a total of perhaps 10-15 minutes total at my home to tell me what I already knew and to insult me with an inflated cost estimate. I called the home office and spoke with the representative I spoke with the day before to clear matters up relative to the service call charge and his explicit mention of the fee being waived for Angie?s list subscribers and I received no empathy or compensatory response apologizing for the misunderstanding. I reluctantly paid the technician to send him on his way, but the value of the "service" provided, just like the cost estimates for the repair work, was way out of line with the actual price. This company ended up wasting my time and money which is a lot more than this company spent in overhead trying to bait and switch a prospective customer. In summary, I can conclude that any potential customer looking to hire this company for a similar, common repair job should note the potential for, if not expect an overall dissatisfying experience.

Not certain if my husband spoke with the owner or someone who worked for the company. We have used same company in the past. I gave them a good rating at that time. The workman came out to look at our Garage door on a Sunday 11/22/15, late morning. He said we would need to replace the Logic Board est cost would be $235.00. If we wanted to get a new motor it would cost $340. My husband said he was rude. The service call would not be deducted. I do have the above rates in writing. My husband paid the Service call fee; the man left. We went to Home depot and purchased a new garage door opener plus instillation which cost us $234.

Technician was called in to take a look at our garage door opener system and diagnose the issues we were having with it. Although he arrived very quickly, we felt he did not do a thorough job with the diagnosis. He disengaged the motor, lifted the door, said there was too much friction in the system, and then explained that there was nothing else he could do besides replace the motor and the spring system since there are no longer any parts available for our opener system. On our invoice, he marked our motor as being bad without even inspecting it or running it. For the price, I expected a more thorough investigation into the possible sources of the problem and possible solutions. So after ten minutes, we were left with a bill for $65 and a feeling of being ripped off. We knew right then we would need a second opinion, and that's when we discovered that even if replacement was the only option, the cost for this company to do it would be 50% higher than what we could find elsewhere. I emailed the company to explain my dissatisfaction with their services and to request a refund. The technician promptly called me to discuss the matter, but refused to refund my money. Apparently customer satisfaction is not even worth $65 to them. Buyer beware.

On Saturday evening the garage door failed to open, and when I checked the motor clearly had failed. I called on Sunday - they offered to come over that afternoon but I had an appointment and so we scheduled a time on Monday. David came over right on time and explained the options for replacement thoroughly. No pressure whatsoever. He did the work in about an hour, and then gave a very complete and thorough explanation as to what he did and what I needed to know about the installation and use. The door operates very nicely. I highly recommend this company and appreciate their professionalism.

Excellent company! Like I said, they were able to come right away due to a cancellation. David, the serviceman, was friendly, polite, professional and efficient. After doing a thorough check, he showed me exactly what was wrong, explaining things very clearly, and told me how he was going to fix everything. He was also able to explain all costs up front. When he was done, David again went through everything with me. I feel like I got a great lesson on garage doors and how they work! Bonus - he told me we should be oiling our door at least once a year, how to do it, and what products to use ( NOT WD40) I didn't even know we were supposed to be doing that! Needless to say I would highly recommend this business to anyone who needed garage door services. I know I will be using them from now on.

Amazing!!! I have been taken advantage of by another garage door company, so I wanted to know what kind of company I was dealing with up front. I called Cory, told him what was wrong with my door. It had landed on top of my daughters car, damaged the bottom panel of my garage door, and knocked the door of track. I asked if I could send pictures to Cory and they could evaluate if my door could be repaired. Cory called me right back, walked through the pictures and damage with me. Gave me an estimate over the phone and we scheduled an appointment for the following morning. Chris arrived a few minutes before his scheduled time, looked at the door and offered suggestions for repairing the door. Within 30 minutes he had done the repair work. Then he balanced the door, at no additional charge and he replaced the cables that had also been damaged in the car/garage door accident. Price for the repair was good. I will certainly be using AZ Garage Door Doctors in the future.
