My laptop's mother board broke and it could not be fixed. I had to get a new laptop. And I had Data Doctor's move everything from my old laptop to my new one. And they told me it might take up to 3 days to do the job. But it only took them one day to do it. And when I got home and turned on the laptop everything was working, I didn't have to do anything.
Description of Work: I needed everything that was on my old laptop installed and set up on my new laptop.

Tech called that he was running behind, but did show up at time he rescheduled us for. When made the appt, our virus software had found and removed 2 viruses 2 days prior to our appt and we had spam coming from Port 25 of our router. The tech was here for 2 hours, and had to leave before job was done. He told us that there was no guarantee that the problem was fixed, they don't guarantee virus or spam removals and to call if problem persists. We had to install Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash and Mozilla Firefox on 4th and 5th computers. We also had to re-connect printers to router. The next day issues with PDF files was back and we continue to have to fix issues with Adobe and Mozilla. 3 weeks after work was done, our internet provider notified us that Spam was coming from Port 25 on our router again. When I called back to schedule a different tech, was told would take almost 2 weeks to get a different tech to come out. Feel like we spent $300.00 and got nothing in return.
Description of Work: Techs exact notes on ticket: Removed Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash and Mozilla Firefox on all systems, reinstalled all of them, reconfigured router and reconnected all clients. Tested OK. Systems were at high utilization and internet provider sending notification of spam sent on port 25. Appears virus removed.

They were great and very intelligent about what they were doing as well as knew what they were doing. They forgot to do one thing and when I called them about it they came right back out the next day and fixed it without charging me anything extra. Their price was what I expected it to be. I would use them again in the future.

It was running slow and I think it must have had a virus. He told me he cleaned everything out of it. They were just really nice and helpful. I call in every once in awhile to ask a question and they are helpful. They will help you with little things. The company has nice newsletters and Ken comes on TV and give you advice on different things. They are just a helpful company.

data doctors didn't call me that week to tell me my laptop was ready, so I called the following week. I left a message for the woman I spoke with and left the laptop with, because she was out of the office. (She had told me her father/family owned the business.) I called 3-4 times, and she never returned my calls. I began to leave messages for other who worked there, and tried to get answers from whomever answered the phone. Finally, I reached a man who was willing to check the status of my laptop. He said it hadn't even been worked on yet. He said he would make sure the work was done. A few more days passed. Nine days after I dropped the laptop off for the repair that was to be completed in 3 days, I called and reached the woman I had originally given my laptop to. She told me that my laptop was ready, but was now at their other store in the town of Rio Rancho. She said I had to go there to pick it up. I was furious! I asked if there as anyone who could drop it off to me, and she said they do not provide that service! This exchanged to place late one Friday afternoon. I told her I was completely unfamiliar with the town of Rio Rancho, and knew from friends that ongoing construction made rush hour traffic there horrendous. I remined her I was (and am) disabled, and would not drive in traffice for an hour or more, without experiencing severe pain for the rest of the night. She said I could wait to get my laptop the next week, on Monday afternoon or Tuesday, that maybe someone would bring my laptop to the store I had originally taken it to. When I voiced my objection and my displeasure at these options, she made several hostile, rude comments, even using foul language (the "F" word, etc.) She indicating she thought I was an excessively damanding customer, as if it was MY fault I was upset, that I was somehow wrong for wanting my laptop back when it was promised, and available at the location I had taken it to. I was very shocked at her total lack of professionalism--her actions, her attitude, her language, etc. In 35+ years of being a customer in the US, I had NEVER been treated so badly by a business manager, let alone an owner! She assumed NO responsibililty for anything that had/had not happened, and she provided no reasoning for the delay in the repair. In fact, she acted as if it was perfectly acceptable to return the laptop in 9 or 10 days rather than 3 days. She seemed to have forgottne our conversation about why I needed the laptop back as soon as possible. I was extremely upset, frustrated, and angry so I left and drove home, so I could calm down. Once I felt calmer, I called the Rio Rancho Store, and managed to speak with the tech who had repaired my laptop. I explained my situation; he said he was not surprised at the owner's attitude or language, but he did not understand why she had the laptop taken to another location, "except maybe to punish you for something!?" I was speechless. He seemed very uncomfortable with what how I had been treated. When I told him where I live, he said I right in not coming to that location. Then he told me that he lived near where I live, and offered to bring my laptop to my home, on his way home. Wonderful! As it turned out, he did deliver my laptop to me, I gave him payment for the work, and told him I would NEVER go there again. He told me he was planning on leaving the company... Shortly after this, I was at my chiropractor's office for an appointment, and the woman from the company who was the source of so much grief was there! My blood pressure soared instantly! She acted as if nothing had happened! I had shared my ongoing experience with my chiropractor, and did not want to put her in the middle, so I said nothing. I tried to make appointments to avoid seeing her again, but was unsuccessful. After leaving twice without my treatment to avoid having to see this woman (it was a small office), I stopped seeing this chiropractor. This is now nearly 5 years later. I have not thought about this until needing a professional computer repair service. When I saw this business listed by name but not rated,I decided to write my first report. I don't want anyone else experiencing what I did, even if it is "only" a serious delay in completion of the repair! I believe the woman I dealt with is still running the Wyoming store. I do not know if there has been the necessary improvement in the level of professionalism there to warrent a less negative rating.
Description of Work: I couldn't get online with my laptop. I called data doctors on Wyoming and was told to bring my laptop in. When I took it in, I was told they needed to check out all of my software, look for and delete viruses, etc. I was then told it would cost about $300 to do this extensive, time consuming work. I asked how long it would take, and I was told 3 days, because they had other jobs ahead of mine. I signed an agreement for them to do this work. They said they would call me when the laptop was done later that week.(I think this happened in October 2005, but not certain.)

Data doctors were very straightforward with me when they told me: We will not try to fix something that simply can not be fixed. Although, what they can fix, they will do it. They told me the motherboard was dead. They were very honest with that fact. Also very prompt and courteous. From now on, they handle my computer affairs. Very trustworthy company.
Description of Work: They came to fix a motherboard on my computer, because it was previously damaged by another company that I had hired. They were unable to fix it so they told me to buy a new one.

Not at all well. See the above. At this point I don't know what to do. I can't use Itunes at all. They said to check the Apple website for support, and the website says if you have problems with Itunes to first un-install it and reinstall it, but my computer won't do the un-install. Seems like that would be a Windows problem, but Data Doctors says Itunes was probably corrupted and they can't help. Tried to access my photos tonight and I get an error message that what I am looking for is not available, though the pictures are there apparently the program isn't, and they had that disk when I took the computer in. Also, I ended up with a blue screen, when the computer was idle, saying Windows had to shut down. This, they say, was (probably) cause by the screen saver. I guess they think they did their job because the computer was locked up when I took it in, and now it isn't, never mind that it doesn't work at all like it used to. Oh yeah, and the sound quality is horrible!
Description of Work: Computer was locked up at start up screen when I took it in. They first performed diagnostics ($100), then recommended "full service" to repair software issues. While they did explain to me that it was possible data could be lost, they would do everything possible to save it. I had to sign that I knew this and to authorize work. They asked for my Windows disk, as well as the disks for all the other programs that I had loaded. I was under the impression that the computer would be as good or better than it was before (providing they could recover the date). When I got the computer back, a few days later than they told me it would be, it wasn't at all like it was before. Lots of programs are missing, even though they had the disks. Itunes is so messed up, I can't open the program, un-install the program OR download the new version. They totally deny any responsibility for this and refuse to help or advise how to correct problems.

Great overall experience.
Description of Work: My laptop was hardly usable; Popups, extremely slow, issues with virus software. First, got estimate on what it would take; tech ran diagnostics then gave ballpark on cost to fix contingent upon what else he found as he proceeded. received a phone call a couple of days later advising of what needed to be done and what it would cost. Extremely helpful, courteous tech who explained everything in layman's terms so I could understand. Also gave me tips on where to purchases things for good prices, e.g., zip drive, battery, etc. Had work done at 9400 So. & Highland (approximately) location which has since closed.

THEY WERE VERY QUICK TO HELP AND VERY COURTEOUS. THEY ISOLATED THE PROBLEM VERY QUICKLY. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE HARD DRIVE WAS NOT WORTH REPAIRING DUE TO THE AGE OF THE COMPUTER. THEY SUGGESTED IT WAS TIME FOR A NEW COMPUTER. THEY DID NOT CHARGE TO FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND WERE NOT PUSHY WHEN SUGGESTING THAT THEY COULD BUILD US A NEW COMPUTER. THEY ACTUALLY SUGGESTED SOME MODELS AND OTHER RETAILERS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE NEW COMPUTER. THE ONLY CHARGE WAS FOR THE COPYING CRITICAL FILES TO A CD.

A UNIQUE FEATURE OF THIS BUSINESS IS THAT THEY FIX THE COMPUTER RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. UNLIKE OTHER COMPANIES, YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME BACK AND PICK UP THE COMPUTER ONCE THEY ARE DONE. THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER. THEY FIXED IT QUICKLY AND OFFERED ADVICE TO PREVENT FUTURE PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT TELL ME THAT MY SYSTEM WAS TOO OLD TO RUN THE NEW PROGRAM THAT THEY SOLD TO ME.
Description of Work: I BROUGHT IN MY COMPUTER, BECAUSE THE C DRIVE WAS BROKEN. THEY DID A ROUTINE CHECK, FIGURED OUT WHY THE DRIVE WASN'T FUNCTIONING, AND GAVE ME A NEW DRIVE TO USE. THEY ALSO SCANNED FOR VIRUSES AND SPYWARE. AT THE END, THEY SUGGESTED SOME SPYWARE REMOVAL PROGRAMS.
