Description of Work: The man who came to paint spoke Spanish, and minimally understood and spoke English. We communicated mostly by me pointing to what I wanted painted. He did a good job, except that he painted over door handles and knobs that were brass and I had to quickly wipe the paint off, and do some other clean up. Overall, he did a good job and the cost was good.

Description of Work: After signing up and paying for the Big Deal, I contacted SGM. There was some confusion about when the first meeting would occur so it took two times to meet with Mr. Gonzalez. When he arrived, I showed him several projects that needed attention. He zeroed in on my walking deck and said that he needed to have his roofing person take a look at it. I met with the roofing person and he proceeded to tell me all that would be involved in the project. It would require some repair to the deck, new fascia boards and an entirely new deck surface. The estimate he gave me totaled $8,560 and he encouraged me to contact other roofers just so I could feel comfortable with the evaluation of the situation and the estimate of the work. I did as he suggested and had another roofing company provide with an estimate of $2,950 for the exact same work. When I contacted Mr. Gonzalez, he immediately suggested that I request a refund. He expressed no desire or willingness to modify his estimate or to do any of the other work I had mentioned. Given his response, I contacted Angie's List and requested a refund. I would have preferred to use the coupon to get the work done but I don't know who the replacement company would be and with the monsoons here, time is of the essence and I need to have the work done.

Description of Work: I left one voice mail and sent two emails and nobody ever responded. I have no way to judge the quality of their work, but the lease they could do is respond to inquiries. Why pay to put your company on Angie's List if you're not going to reply to inquiries?

Description of Work: Had our great room/kitchen and dining area painted. I supplied the paint--when they ran out unexpectedly, they even drove to the big box store to get an additional gallon of paint! Super work, super job, nice and neat--cleaned up perfectly at the end of the day. I will be having them come back in the spring to do the exterior of our house, some drywall repair and even spray paint the block fence--he has already given me a very good quote for that job.

Description of Work: This was a difficult job, as my husband failed to have the right paints / work ready. But, despite that, the painting was done, professionally and courteously Kudos for putting up with the situation.

Description of Work: Repaired and re-textured drywall in several places. Drywalling went well but the spray from the re-texturing got on to several pieces of furniture. Fortunately, it scraped off easily but we would have been a lot happier if our furniture had been protected better.
