We are a fully licensed, and fully insured estate sales company. We will liquidate your estate and put money in your pocket. We offer free consultations. With our company we will stage, clean, and tag your items. We have the option to consign your items as well and place them in another Estate Sale.
Met with the people at NS Consignment three times before giving my furniture to them for them to sell on consignment. Buried in the contract was a term that says that I, the owner of the furniture, owe NS Consignment a commission for UNSOLD items. In other words, as soon as the items are priced and the contract is signed, you owe them money. The contract states, "Our commission is payable on all items we have been told will be in the sale at the time the contract is signed." First, I have dealt with consignment stores over the years and have never seen such a term in any contract. Second, and what's worse, even though NS Consignment explained their process to me on three occassions, they never mentioned this. Only when confronted did they admit they get paid whether the furniture sells or not. There are so many other reputable consignment stores in the area, I'd avoid NS Consignment. I decided not to go with NS. Unrelated to that, they were a no-show for our appointment to evaluate the furniture.
Description of Work: Attempted to consign furniture without disclosing that they expect to be paid their full commission whether the furniture sells or not.

(member name removed), Your review comes as quite a shock to us and is very concerning especially since there are many inconsistencies with your review and that we do not have any record of ever having a consultation with you. We are a very small family owned company and we have documentation of every client we have ever had a consultation with and served. Your comments about our contract and the services we provide are absolutely FALSE. We only take a commission off of the items that we sell for our clients. We go above and beyond what other companies do by picking up the items, appraising and selling. If items have not sold during the contract period we offer to our client three options. We can return the items to them, we can donate the items for them or we can extend our contract. We have served hundreds of clients and never once have we charged a commission on items that do not sell. I am not sure how you even got a contract, as contracts are handed out in person upon review of their items, and as you stated in your review, we did a "no-show." Which means you would not have gotten a contract to misquote from. Either way, if you have obtained a copy of our contract you will see that it states as follows: Fees and Expenses. Our fee for providing the services discussed above is _____% of gross sale proceeds (GROSS SALE PROCEEDS). Our commission is payable on all items we have been told will be in the sale at the time the contract is signed. (Which means that after signing the contract prior to us picking up items the client sells some of the items to avoid avoid our commission, we still get our percent on that item, since our contract was based on the items agreed upon when signed). This has nothing to do with items that did not sell. NO WHERE in our entire contract does it state that our client owns us a commission for unsold items! We are more than happy to show anybody that is interested in our company a copy of our contract or to provide them with numerous client and customer referrals.
