Great service. Ken replaced capacitors on 3 AC units. He cleaned up/ vacuumed the units afterwards like he was taking care of his own. He arrived on time as promised. After demonstrated his work ethic and entregrity, I did not hesitate to sign up for his annual service plan.

Fine, diagnosis was quick and replacement was done quickly as well. Mr. Baker was able to take our service call and show up at 7PM at night when a few other companies could not provide assistance until the next day or two.

We recently purchased our home and wanted to ensure that our A/C was in good shape so we contacted Baker Heating for a check up. Ken was very professional and even called prior to our appointment to make sure it was convenient for him to stop by. He checked both the A/C and the heating system and corrected a few minor discrepancies. He offered us a maintenance Plan (we selected the 3 year plan) that includes many benefits including priority emergency service within 24 hours, no charge for service calls, no overtime fees and two scheduled maintenance visits per year......these are just a few examples of the many benefits the plan offers. We are very pleased with the service that Ken provided and can now rest assured that our A/C is healthy. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for Heating or Cooling maintenance!

This service provider was professional and honest. He took care of the problem in a reasonable amount of time. We would have him come back. We signed his reasonable $20 per month maintenance agreement with no contract.
Description of Work: Tested the registers, examined the Air Conditioner. He found the coolant was low and there was a small leak. He added 2lb R-22 Refrigerant. He also added stop leak with a one year warranty on that.

It was excellent. I got a second opinion and I called Mr. Baker. He discovered that there was a kink in the refrigeration line and why it was there, who knows. He gave me alternatives. He can replace the coil or he can do the air conditioning. He gave me the pluses and minuses before making the decision. I made a decision to just go ahead and get a new furnace and a new unit which he then did. It's a beautiful job. It's working fine. Everything is working great here too. I just appreciate his honesty and his professionalism. The quality of his work is an A+.
Description of Work: We had our air conditioner changed in my rental property. He came over and spent half an hour and really diagnosed everything. He went up the attic and he checked the other side of the unit. I use him to my own home. I had a leak here and he just did some work fixing the leak and checking out the air conditioning. He put in a couple of sensors.

Immediately after he installed the motor and turned it on SMOKE & acrid chemical/burning smell started to pour out the downstairs vents. I freaked out and asked him to turn off the unit. He said he did not smell any smoke. I couldn't believe it - it became worse, the air was becoming thick with smoke and, it was obvious he was not going to deal with a "FIRE" situation (in the middle of a very HOT summer, no less) so, I called the Fire Department. When I told him the Fire department was on their way he immediately went upstairs and pulled out the motor he installed. It was black, burned and smoking. The smoke stopped pouring into the house. I insisted that the burning motor remain in the home for the Fire Dept to examine and for other insurance purposes (i.e. - cleaning out the chemical/smoke smell in the AC vents). The Firemen removed all the smoke from the house (took quite a while) and examined the burned unit he installed and the area where it was burning. While the firemen were present, I took photos of the burned motor and its wiring. Firemen were surprised that AC man did not turn off the electricity/breaker - they checked. And, they were surprised that the motor burned since this is a very basic wiring safety procedure that any beginning AC repairman would definitely know how to do - how not to burn down someone's house down. Shortly thereafter, another highly rated AC company came out and repaired our AC unit and examined the burned motor. They showed us that he did not wire the unit correctly and did not follow the wiring diagram that was/is affixed to the unit. They also said that he did not use the correct motor for our AC unit. And, they showed us other problems. Owner was unprofessional, uncommunicative and rude from beginning to end. Must have been having a bad day and wanted to take it out on some unsuspecting female customer who had just moved into town, moved into their new home and, was very ill. To this day, acrid/burned/chemical smell still comes from the AC ducts involved with this burn. Will try to figure out how to post the photos and reports in near future.
Description of Work: Sometime during last Summer (July - Sept, 2013), our AC unit died and it was in the middle of an unbearably HOT summer in Phoenix, AZ. Our Home Insurance Service sent out this company. Ken, the owner, examined the unit and determined the fan/motor unit broke and it would need to be replaced. He had an extra fan/motor unit in his van and installed it.

Response from Baker Heating & Cooling
Please contact me at (623) 693-6763 to see how we can resolve this issue I will apologize to you again for my mistake. I wired the motor wrong and it did smoke the windings and it was a rookie mistake. Sometimes when we are working hard in the Arizona heat and running all over the place trying to make enough money in the summer to make it through the winter, to feed our family, we get tired and make dumb mistakes. There's not a single HVAC professional in this valley that hasn't made a dumb mistake at one time or another. I did pull the motor from the unit and isolate it outside the house before the fire department arrived on scene. It's been almost a full year since this happened so I'm wondering why are you just now choosing to post this. Another question that I have is how was I able to pull the motor, out of the air handler, without pulling the disconnect in the attic so that i didn't get electrocuted while doing so? I am licensed, bonded and insured. If this is an insurance claim you will need to talk to my insurance company so they can open up a file. I'm sure they'll have some additional questions as well for everyone involved in this incident. For the record this is the only blower motor that I have ever smoked the windings on. At no time was your house in peril of catching on fire. If there was a real fire I would have called the fire department myself and made sure that everyone was evacuated out of the structure until they arrived. If you don't have a home warranty you have the freedom of choice of picking the company that you would like to do business with. Your call was dispatched to me through a home warranty company that I am no longer a vendor for. They say you only get one chance to make a positive first impression. Obviously I failed on this particular call. I did wait until the fire department had called an all clear and I did ask you if there was anything else that I do for you that day before I left. Thank you for not giving me all F's in every category. Ken

I actually called Ken for a quote to relocate my outdoor A/C unit as I was installing a new pool and the unit was in the way. Ken gave me a quote per my request, but mentioned my A/C unit was over sized and I might want to consider replacing the furnace as well. Long story short my electric bill has gone down a little over 27% average since the installation April 2012 of the new A/C unit. Ken was great to work with. Always on time, efficient with removal and installation of products and tidy when leaving the work site. Baker Heatlng also included the first spring and fall A/C and furnace checkup for free.
