The deck job was so bad, within 3 months, I was calling Steve and asking them to redo the job. It took several phone calls to get him to even respond to my phone call. It took several more calls before he even came over to look at the job. It took about 9 months for him to come and redo the job. During that time, the exterior of the house was starting to have an "oxidized" look to the finish that they put on. This job, that was less then 2 years old was looking terrible. It almost looked like it had a white fuzz coming off of it. My husband and I decided that we didn't want to deal with Steve anymore and started to look into getting the problem taken care of on our own. After speaking to the place where the product to do our house was purchased, it was determined that the product that they used was oxidizing. He did not follow our instructions and use the product that he had used the previous time. Steve actually called us during that time as he heard from the paint store that we were looking for a solution to our problem. He agreed to come over and check it out and cover the defective product. That was approx 6 months ago. We have made numerous calls to Steve and he does not even return our call. I have found Steve to be extremely unprofessional. He takes a lot of jobs and does not keep track of his workers. His price is high and he does not stand behind his work. I would never use Steve again and would discourage anyone else from using his service.
Description of Work: I have used Straightline Painting 2 times. The first time was during a remodel of our home. approx 8 years ago. We had such a good experience with them, that we decided to use them again when the outside of our house needed to be restained. Steve was extremely responsive initially. His price was higher then the other bids but I still chose them because I wanted them to use the same products that they had used the last time they did the house. The job included the entire exterior of the house including the deck. We specifically asked Steve to use the same products as he had used the last time as they had held up very well.

Straightline painted the house next door, did an excellent job, and was recommended by the owner. Steve, the owner of Straightline, made some excellent suggestions which we took up using the Sherwin-Williams website (you can paint your house, virtually, on it) and was very patient while we went through colors with him. The estimate did not change, the billing was fair, and our neighbors and we are most pleased with the result. The crew that did us, headed by Doug, was meticulous and the quality of the work reflects this. The work was done on time and as promised.

Dealing with Stephen of Straightline Painting renewed our faith that there are good, honest contractors out there. Stephen was prompt in getting us an estimate, very close in pinpointing the date and amount of time taken to complete the job and did a great job. Stephen is easy to work with, has great communication skills and knows his area of expertise. Our carpet people decided to remove some baseboard (without telling us ahead of time) after the painting was done and Straightline was kind enough to go back in and touch up pro bona. An excellent experience overall. Our highest recommendations. Update 6/1/12: After receiving the touch up quote, we made multiple attempts to get him to set a date to do this touch up work, he failed to provide a time. We contacted him by phone (text), phone (voice) and e-mail multiple times and no luck. When we finally contacted him to say "no need to set a date now, we're done waiting for you", he just said "OK". No apologies, nothing. Needless to say, this changed our opinion from the first time we dealt with him and we will no longer recommend him or hire Straightline for future jobs. Very sad. He seemed like such a great person and our first experience was so good. Update 6/26/12: Now that we have moved into our home, we have realized that the upper level of our house was not painted the neutral we chose that was supposed to be throughout the house. The previous owners had a similar color and Straightline obviously decided that they could pass it off as the same color and claim they had painted. We, fortunately, kept all the paint swatches and the upstairs of our home is obviously not the correct color and there are nail holes from the previous owner in several places that helped give away the fact that they only painted accent walls more obvious. We can't do anything about it now and since we paid them based on our realtor's walk-through of the home and touch up/follow up is something they just don't do. We have learned. How do people do business like this? Never again. This experience went from "highest recommendations" to "be very wary".
Description of Work: Interior painting in using multiple colors and paint types in our new home in Sedona. Update 6/1/12: We contacted Stephen a second time to have him do some touch up work on our home (est $1100).
