Let’s talk about the storms that are typical here is Sedona during Monsoon season. Gutters that properly manage stormwater do a lot more than just protect your house. Using gutters to manage stormwater flow can protect your yard, your neighbors yard and your neighborhood. We have seen how quickly water can flow through and overflow arroyos. We don’t want to create any new arroyos in our neighbor’s yard. A great way to protect your home- including your roof, windows, stucco and foundation is by having good operable gutters on your home. Gutters direct rain and melting snow away from your home. This protects your home from leaks, your windows and stucco from rot and the foundation from erosion. Oftentimes water can get into these areas without you knowing until there is a major problem often indicated by leaking water. It is important to direct water away from the foundation lines of your home because too much water along those lines can erode the soil and seep down the foundation line of your home. This increases the risk of leaks in the basement as well as the integrity of the structure. Keeping gutters and downspouts clear of debris is crucial to maintaining good gutters. When gutters and downspouts get clogged with dirt, leaves and debris they are unable to do their job directing water off and away from your home. This leads to an assortment of issues ranging from roof leaks and water damage to rotted plywood and stucco. Debris-clogged gutters can also cause water damage to the interior of your home. Another reason to keep gutters clear is that debris-filled gutters make nice homes for pests, rodents, birds mold and even bees. These infestations can lead to bigger and more costly issues. Kristen’s favorite quote, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”! Invest in gutter clean out to avoid bigger, more costly problems! Gutter guards are a protective system, like a screen, that is installed on top of your gutters to keep debris out. Gutter guards are a great option for homeowners that have homes in an area where large amounts of debris are present, like large overhanging trees or trees with excessive leaves and pine needles. Oftentimes these types of trees produce so much debris that they cause gutters to clog, even after they have been recently cleaned out. Gutter guards allow water to flow freely through the system and out the downspouts keeping the debris on top of the screen. Here’s the bottom line, gutters can leak and need repairing. As gutters age, this happens more and more. We are happy to help with any gutter repairs that are needed. Oftentimes installing new gutters will be the solution. Repairing old gutters that have gone past their life expectancy often leak again somewhere else. Our residential gutter services specialists will evaluate your leaking gutter. Then they will be able to give you options and information about what would be best for your home.
