Do not do business with this company, they are unprofessional, lack quality and follow through. Our project lingered for months until we were so concerned about the lack of quality, communication and professionalism and follow through that we had to hire a lawyer to get our money back. I was even yelled at by a project manager for having the audacity to have questions about their plan. Truly one of the worst experiences in hiring a company in my life.
Description of Work: Remodeling of entire outdoor space, outdoor ramada, outdoor kitchen, pavers, etc.. As well as an indoor cabinet build.

Travek, Inc demolished a Four Seasons modular sun room under my covered porch and rebuilt a lovely Arizona room with standard construction including a raised foundation and fully framed walls. The quality of construction was excellent and surpasses that of my 30-year-old UDC track home. The room, about 400 sq ft, included 4 dual pane windows, 2 Arcadia doors, one standard door, & tile floor. The room is a lovely and practical addition to my home. My only complaint is they gave me a too rosy picture of the project duration which was 75% over the original 8-week estimate when done. Most delays were out of their control (city inspections, sub-contractor availability, etc) but I would have been a bit less frustrated if I'd had a more reasonable expectation of the time needed. All company personnel were easy to work with - particularly the project supervisor/mgrs, Mark and David. I highly recommend this builder to anyone.

Thank you, [Member Name Removed]. Those delays are frustrating, and that's totally understandable. You are correct in saying that it would've felt different if the proper expectations had been set. This is really good feedback for our team. Other than that, we are thrilled that your project turned out beautifully.

Description of Work: Partial kitchen renovation, including installation of Viking cook top, high volume exhaust system, replace / rearrange some cabinets, new GE dishwasher, new GE Double oven, new Microwave, travertine tile backsplash. |Work took a bit longer than expected (primarily because of an issue with a subcontractor) but when down to crunch time, team worked long hours to deliver as promised. Appropriately addressed issues with functionality as they developed. Pricey, but I do feel the work was high quality. I do plan to use them again for additional work in my home.

I chose them because I envisioned a dedicated group of artisans descending on my home and making it BEAUTIFUL... and quickly, like you see on TV home makeovers. I got, for the most part, one kid who would show up sometimes and not others. Some days he wouldn't show up at all. Some days he would come over and work awhile; Then his girlfriend would show up and they would take off. Meanwhile I was living in a rental for many months. My dissatisfaction was total.
Description of Work: Their bid was over 2x the next lower bid for water damage and remodel.

I had heard of Travek via advertising on the radio and they where listed with Angie's list. Hans showed up right on time. I was very impressed, as are conversation progressed. I for a short time had the feeling that I had hit a home run on my first up to bat. Then we came to an impasse. My definition of free consultation and there's differed. When I was informed by Hans that he could not even begin to give me a quote or design without a several hundred dollar down payment ( not refundable ) we came to a stand still. Hans said he would check back in a few weeks, but I never heard from him or Travek again. What is know is that no other Kitchen remodel company that I have contacted has ask for a ( non - refundable deposit ) or for that matter no deposit of any kind. I am currently working with several other companies and look forward to this remodel project. As it stands now, it appears that the work required is going to come in around $42.000.00 I will most definitely review the other contractor I deal with . Regards Steve

In regards to [member name removed] review: It has been our practice to work only with committed buyers, because we value the time of all people involved. For that reason, before we go on any appointment, we send out a very detailed pamphlet which describes our customer-specific and very detailed design process. This also clearly states that a design fee will be collected at the initial appointment if a person wishes to go forward with the process. Our procedure has been to make an initial visit with the customer, find out what they are wanting, and get to know them a bit. It is important that both parties have a good feeling and desire to work together. At that point we will give a “ballpark estimate” based on our experience in what the project will probably cost, but we cannot give a real accurate price until product selections have been made. At that point, if the customer is interested in going forward, we do ask for a design fee (a commitment) because what was described above is exactly what we do not want. Instead of a person soliciting bids from many other companies, we would rather be in a relationship where we are working together to get the best remodel for our customer’s wants and needs, and not be giving out bids to see who can come in at the lowest price. In fairness to all, we want our customers to be as committed to us as we are to them. Our people will be spending quite a few hours and sometimes even days putting together drawings based on specific selections or product (which includes time going with the customer to pick out product). We are a company that works with our customers to give them what they desire specifically based on their needs, wants and budget, and we do not do bid work. Another reason for our detailed design process is so that we can give a real price instead of allowances for products. If a company is saying that a remodel will cost a certain number of dollars without pricing it out, the customer will be limited to certain selections to fit within that allowance or otherwise end up having quite a few change orders which will increase the overall cost and frustration in the end. TraVek would rather price a project based on the customer’s budget, wants and needs before getting into the remodel than to have to make adjustments and add financial surprises mid-stream. In our many decades of being in the home improvement business, we have found that this seems to work best, because customers appreciate knowing up front what their product selection choices and costs will be instead of signing a contract that only has allowances for products they have not specifically selected. As far as never hearing from TraVek again, according to our customer call records, a message was left after a few weeks, as promised, because Hans was told by [member name removed] that he was getting other bids and would not know whether or not he wanted to go ahead with a design retainer until he had those. We do our best to call back when we promise a follow-up call, and perhaps the message in voicemail was overlooked. I cannot say for certain why there was no connection here, but I can only say what our call records indicate. So, specifically to [member name removed] concern above, it appears that we should have perhaps been a little more clear as to what the design fee & process included. Our apologies, and we will address this in further training among our professional sales team. We sincerely hope the next company he works with delivers a beautiful kitchen for him.

The project went amazingly well. Travek meet our schedule, work was completed in 5 weeks (they had estimated 6 weeks. All work was performed by 2 employees except mirror/glass shower door installation and travertine slab fabrication with was done by sub-contractors. Both Travek employee Davin and Kyle were reliable, and worked diligent to meet our schedule . We would highly recommend them for their workmanship and attention to detail. They were a pleasure to work with and to have in our home. We were very pleased with the sub contractor that Travek used. Mike at MJ Stone did a wonderful job on the fabrication of the vanities. He was very accommodating and the vanities are just what we wanted.
Description of Work: Remodeled both master and guest bath. Master bath: vanity in travertine slab, undermount kohler sinks, mirrors, new soaking tub with travertine tile surrounds, snail shower with travertine tile, all new bath/lav/shower fixtures, electrical rewiring, and lighting installation. Guest bath: vanity in travertine slab, undermount kohler sinks, morrors, removed tub and replaced with walk in travertine tile shower, all new bath/lav/shower fixtures, electrical rewiring, and lighting installation.

From the beginning, Todd worked with us on what we wanted and how we could get it within what we could afford. He was always available to talk to us...even when he went on a short vacation. The crew was on time and always professional and respectful. They were really a great bunch and very respectful of me (as I was always home) and of my pets. The person who was the foreman worked extremely well with me and if there were any issues we'd sit down and go over them. I relied on his opinion on a number of things. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Oh! And they introduced me to skytubes! If I ever were to build a new home, I would have skytubes everywhere! Travek does subcontract some of the work and again, professional and courteous in that respect as well. There was a lot of hard work done on our property and the crews made it happen! We will be hiring them again in the future for a small landscape project.
Description of Work: TraVek extended a wall to create a wonderful diningroom (previously was a family room); they combined two small bedrooms which now makes up our new tv watching area and added a new master bedroom and bathroom suite. A space that another contractor would have made a closet, they made into a fantastic work station for me. They painted the interior of the whole house as well as the exterior. This job was the second we've contracted with them...the previous completed in 2004. The work took approximately 3 1/2 months, which we expected.
