Description of Work: I took my mother's antique side chair to them for repair. The entire back section had broken off at the seat level. and I wasn't sure it was worth repairing. I learned that the chair (one of a set of five) was well over 100 years old, so decided that in the long run $60 wasn't too much to spend. I left the chair, and was contacted about 10 days later that it was ready. |They did an excellent job--the mend is practically invisible. However, they did warn me that the chairs should be subjected only to "light use," since because of their age and the way they were constructed, they are highly susceptible to damage if treated roughly in the future.

Description of Work: The Furniture Doctor restored an entire dining room set; table, 8 chairs,and china cabinet, that had turned yellow from being stored in a facility that was not air conditioned. The white farmhouse furniture looked better than new. They also repaired a door on the china cabinet that had been torn off in the move. They did the work promptly and professionally. I will use them in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreMy first impression was that Gerry and Sandy know wood and know their craft, they confirmed my thoughts by doing an excellent job on a full size walnut buffet. Gerry is in great shape and helped my husband carry the buffet off the truck. They were able to save the character of the piece of my grandmother's buffet and save us money by only stripping and re-staining just the top surface. The rest of the piece they cleaned up beautifully and it looks like 1940's new. Gerry even tweaked the hinge on the door that kept popping open so it now stays shut. They gave me a completion date for 6 weeks out and then called 3 weeks later to say it was done! I am extremely pleased with their professionalism and work quality. We received quotes from other furniture restoration specialist that are also top rated on Angie's lists and they were for much more as they felt they had to refinish the entire piece to remove the water spots. Gerry worked his magic and saved the piece for us.
Description of Work: Gerry and Sandy refinished my grandmother's walnut buffet. They did a beautiful job!

Description of Work: Repaired very expensive burled ash cabinet door that had been smashed in by movers. It did not look repairable. Hinge torn off and large piece of burled wood torn out of door.

 + -1 moreAfter I called Gerry and told him my problem with the chair, he said bring it over and he would look at it. When I arrived he helped me get it out of the car and after looking at it, he said he could fix it. The next day i got a call that the chair was ready.
Description of Work: I had a boken chair leg to a dinning set. He ixed it in one day and it is great!

 + -1 moreThey did an excellent job. The work looked really good. A couple runs the operation out of their home. They are very accommodating. They will come to pick up the furniture. We had them work on a cedar chest, and they restored the top of it. It looks like an original.
