Sustain Scape

Mike's a very nice guy who is passionate about landscaping. It was an exciting project that included metal planters, front courtyard, firewoks, colorful stucco walls and unique desert plants. I had fun working with him to come up with ideas because he had more of a vision that I did. I'm very happy with how everything turned out. It wouldn't look the same now without Mike's ideas. His crew leader Richard is very friendly and pays attention to little details. The whole crew worked fast and got it done on time. The maintenance crew now comes weekly and I'm happy with their services too. Mike stuck to his warranty and replaced two plants right after their inspection. I would recommend Mike to anyone who needs a great design or a quality installation. Price also included demolition, haul away, irrigation and lighting.

I'm very appreciative of their professionalism and promptness. He is very forthright and helpful. I will continue using Sustain Scape and would highly recommend them to others.

The work went well enough. They came two times and the work was fine. On the third appointment, there was some trouble where they had to come back to see if there was a repair needed. I expected them to come out and give me an estimate, but they repaired it without asking me first and I was given a bill. It was a small misunderstanding. The guy was friendly when he came to complete the work and I would recommend him.

I wasn't totally satisfied with them. They were supposed to come back and complete some repairs, but they did not come back.

We requested bids from three companies and the lowest was from Mike of Sustain Scape. We basically knew what we wanted, but we didn?t know what to use for plants and materials. Mike picked a nice paver at a good price, stacked stone for our pergola and fireplace, paint colors and wood stains for the pergola and BBQ, BBQ appliances, all plants and he designed the fireplace. We wanted a gourmet BBQ and he designed it very well, plus brought in gas. We receive many compliments on our backyard now, and our friends are now currently using Sustain Scape for their backyard clean up. He seems to do large and small projects. His crew does very good quality work.

The check and repair went fine. He did not like coming all the way out to my area, far west Phoenix metro area.

I was very impressed with Mike and his crew. His crew leader, Richard, was always there and available to talk to me when I wanted to make changes as I saw the progress. Mike oversaw the job daily and he was available by phone when I needed him. The crew worked hard and they were careful and clean. I had three designs for my front yard done by different landscape companies, and Mike hit the nail on the head. He took in everything I described as wanting and he created something better than I had pictured. He is also very knowledgeable about desert adaptive plants and landscapes in general. Richard has already been back twice in two weeks to make sure my plants are surviving. My neighbor is now using Mike because he was impressed with the final product and how quickly it was done. I'll be using Mike for my backyard next year.

He just turned on the sprinkler system and watched what was going on. After he assessed everything, he gave me some suggestions about what to do to improve the lawn. I ended up going with another vendor that was cheaper. For the price of the Big Deal, I was expecting more than what I got.

Unfortunately, he lost a couple of his foremen so the job occurred a couple of months late. During that time, he gave us an out though we really liked him so stuck with him. He did a fantastic job once it was completed and referred us to someone else to do part 2 of our job who we loved as well. The price was competitive.

Disappointing. Contractor started work approx. the first of June, 2012 and was scheduled to be complete by late June. The final task was not completed until October. Visits to the house (not a full-time residence) were required in July and August to verify progress. Before both visits the contractor assured us the project was complete. Owner visits to the project required air travel. Examples of deficiencies: gas line to BBQ was leaking; water feature was leaking; fridge, which was supposed to be outdoor-rated, was not; misting line which was to be capped, was leaking; flagstone work was not complete per proposal; all debris was not removed. After owner's visit in July and notification to contractor of remaining deficiencies, contractor replaced fridge and repaired leak in water feature, removed debris, repaired flagstone. The leak in the misting line was not corrected and owner fixed this himself. The fridge was not plugged in and tested for operation because the cord was not long enough. Owner bought a cord to plug in the fridge. During August visit, owner notified contractor that BBQ was not installed properly. The flanges on each side of the BBQ did not sit down on the countertop. Owner sent photos of the condition. Before owner's October trip to the AZ home, the contractor assured the owner the BBQ issue was fixed. Upon arrival in October, the BBQ issue had not been fixed and we emailed contractor with another photo of the same condition. Contractor came out on October 24th and installed BBQ properly.

It worked out really well and we were happy with all of the services.

I will use them again in the future.

I received an estimate for the project that I wanted to complete, and the price was competitive. However, I found the contractor to be very slow in returning phone calls. I got the impression that my business was not really wanted, so I selected another contractor for the job.

We found SustainScape on Angie's List. Mike came to our house, checked out the back yard, and promptly drew up plans for a complete renovation. Mike actively worked to maximize our budget. He put in native, low maintenance plants. Our entire deck was removed and replaced with some beautiful pavers. The turn-around was quick, the change was dramatic. Mike was always available, his crew was great. They were very careful around the house and our pets. We've already used them for other jobs, and for me, there is no alternative.

The look achieved was more attractive than I envisioned and the overall process, work involved and final result exceeded my expectations. The crew was exceptional, re-routing a sprinkler line so as not to be affected by the pavers, protecting the existing plants and cleaning up after themselves daily. They even removed some stone veneer and restacked it to my liking. What a difference having a good crew and the resulting finished product. WOW.

They were very prompt, professional, and thorough. We are very satisfied with the project to date.

Mike is very bright, creative, and has great people skills! We had an all grass area the size of an Olympic pool that was consuming lots of water. The grass was removed and they completely landscaped the area. He also addressed some leaks and planted over 50 plants, a tree, and boulders. I have used Mike on 3 other projects since and he is just wonderful!

Mike Robison is the owner of the company and he is the one who comes here. I would recommend him to anyone and would use him again.

You really get your bang for your buck with Mike. He?s very knowledgeable and creative. We are very pleased with the design he put together for our backyard, which included stamped concrete overlay, a garden, plants, irrigation, lighting, and a covered trellis/pergola that leads to our casita. His knowledge for plants is very impressive. He came up with unique feature plants that fit our requirements for water, sun and care and he let us know why some of the plants we like would not work for certain areas in our yard. His follow up is also very impressive. We didn?t have to call him to check on the installation, he contacted us to check on it soon after installation. We now use him for maintenance and we like that he takes his time to trim things naturally. He?s not just a mow, blow and go service.

Michael and his team performed the work as promised in a timely and professional manner. We are very pleased and will continue to use their services.

Probably the biggest reason I've trusted and relied on Angie's List is to avoid unresponsive contractors. I'm not sure how this company has such a high rating if they are so unresponsive and completely indifferent to potential new business.

I am looking to do a big landscaping project and I contacted the company. Their price was quite high and they couldnt start the work for six weeks when I needed the work done sooner.

I own a rental property in AZ and needed some landscaping and irrigation repairs. It started with an efficient call to Mike. He called me back a day or 2 later with a price. We agreed. He performed service. He sent me a bill. And I paid --- all in a very short period of time.

Great Customer Service, Very knowledgeable, Reliable, Hardworking Crew. I’m very happy with all of the service I received from Sustain Scape. Only a few irrigations concerns after the installation, but Mike was back three times trying different things until he fixed the issue. One plant died from the irrigation problems and Mike honored his warranty to replace the plant. Also, the design fee is definitely worth it. I received one free design originally from someone else that wasn’t anything special and the bid was too high. Mike’s design fee is $250 but well worth it. He came up with great, unique ideas. You can tell he is inspired by landscapes. In the end, the design was free because it was applied as a credit to my installation.

Was on time and we walked thru our ideas on up dating our landscape, have not decided to move forward at this time...
