Pella Windows and Doors

I installed Pella doors and windows 2007-2016. I have a beautiful Pella Walnut door/with sidelights. The panels shrunk and I need to re-stain some small exposed areas. I'm writing bc Pella gouges its customers. Today I received a quote for $248 ... that's right, for ONE QUART of stain. I called and complained and that price was discounted to $168+/-. NO, I can't match the stain with other stain manufacturers. I am stuck w/PELLA. Fyi, every PELLA installation over the years was BAD. They hired sub-contractors and every time I had windows or doors installed I got new sub-contractors. I swore then I would file a complaint on Angies List and I never did. But today was over-the-top. In order to get this precious quart of stain, they also required that I sign a 9 page contract (that was waived). So, after 15 yrs of Pella I feel exceptionally qualified to file a complaint and alert consumers. They have great glossy ads, and they have a great product, but if you want service, you'll definitely want to choose some other window and door company. Don't be as foolish as I was.

THE COMPANY WAS SCHEDULING TWO MONTHS OUT FOR INSTALLATION.

The Pella door sales brochure recommends using the same exterior door color as other Pella doors previously installed in the same home. So when the sales rep came to our house to place the order for our second Pella door I mentioned that we had a Pella sliding glass door that was installed several years ago. He looked at our previously installed Pella sliding glass door, and said the exterior color was "tan". So we also ordered tan for our 2nd door, which is an exterior entry door in the master bedroom--it is on the same side of the house but on the opposite end. My mistake was assuming that he had correctly identified the color of the first door as "tan". Come to find out following installation of the new door, the patio door is actually almond! It's not a terribly different shade so not a huge deal, but I'd advise others to verify the colors. One would think the sales reps would actually be familiar with their company's door colors. After installation was complete, and as the workers were preparing to drive away, I noticed a hole above the inside frame of the door. They had apparently forgotten to caulk along the upper edge of the door frame. I was able to catch them before they left, and they came in and did the caulking along the upper frame. However, after they had left I found another smaller area on the right side of the inside door frame that was not caulked well. I actually caulked this myself. We had a metal security door on the outside of the new Pella door, which they rehung more securely for me, however I later found that the security door knob does not now latch when the door is shut--so the knob deadbolt had to be fixed by a locksmith. I was very happy with the sliding glass door we had installed about 5 yrs ago. This new entry door is beautiful, but I was disappointed with the installation snafus and the lack of door color congruency. Also disappointing is the fact that their door colors are not always well matched to their frame colors. The inside of our new door is "poplar white" but the frame is "linen white" which is a little incongruent also.

It turned out fine. Pella does the best work in the country on windows. I would recommend them. My experience was fine. They're more expensive but they have a better product.

I have been very happy with them. The only point of contact we had was with the salesman who was outstanding. He made some really good suggestions to us and changed some ideas that we had. We ended up with better than what we had wanted to get so that was substantial. The installers were very clean, very efficient and very neat. They did a great job. They were always there when they said they would be. I am using them again and I would use them again.

They delivered what they said they would. They came and did the work as scheduled and did it very promptly. There was a minor problem that developed couple of weeks after and they came and fixed that.

It was wonderful. The quality of the product is great. The gentleman that did the install was first class. They were efficient and on time. They really knew what they were doing and it was great.

It was a real good experience. The salesman was real good and explained it real well. The two guys that came and put it in we were very impressed by them. They left no mess and made a quick job of it. They worked real well together. We did not even have them around half the day and they had all the windows in. The work has held up real good. I had to touch up the grout around one front window, but that was the only one I found so far. It was the best price out of the two companies that we wanted to go with. First of all we picked two companies that we were sold on that had good recommendations. Their price was the better price and we felt the price was fair.

the windows are great. One minor thing with one window where they caught my vertical blind in the caulking. However, the sliding door is one I would NEVER want again: They did not tell me (and I didn't go see the sample at the showroom) that their sliding door has a sill that is approximately 1.5" HIGHER than the floor. Thus everyone has to remember to step OVER this sill. They claim they cannot fix it. In addition, they initially setup the door so that there was about a 6" gap between the panels which totally destroyed my wonderful view of Pusch RIdge. It took months to get them to come and look at this door. then all they could do was tell me that due to the design they could not lower the sill without the door leaking. I needed windows and doors with dark frames but I am very glad I did NOT replace my other sliding door with them As is, neighbors and I have almost fallen due to this sill. The windows are fine, the workmanship by the subcontractor was fine.

Do not use these folks. I'd like to retract my earlier review. The sale and installation were good. However, the fact that we have three broken windows with ZERO satisfaction for the past two months deserves to be noted. For the third time we have been promised repairs that have not happened on windows worth $20K + is unacceptable. I will never recommend someone again because of this. The first time I called I was told that they had to order the part. I then had to chase them down to do the repair after they supposedly had the repair part. They showed up on a random date and time and didn't do a repair. We had to chase them down to come back out. They came out today with no parts as they originally promised and no repairs. I would really like to have my money back for all of these Pella windows. These windows are less than one year old, and should not be broken or in need of repairs already. Please check for integrity when dealing with Pella. We have found integrity lacking here.

The door system has had only normal wear, but in less than two years was badly weathered and discolored. We had been told that the entry system (door and side panels) would need no attention for two years. We contacted the Pella dealer from whom we purchased the door system (in Mesa at the time of purchase, since relocated) and were told that they could do nothing and that we needed to hire someone to fix the door system. They couldn't or wouldn't recommend a person or company to do this. We later contacted Pella Customer Service via e-mail and again received no assistance whatsoever. We are very disappointed in the Pella product, and equally as disappointed in the complete lack of customer service provided. We plan to replace our patio doors in the Spring, but will not be purchasing Pella products again.

Very badly all the way around with the installers. We had to pay to have contractors to come in to repair damage to our travertine floors, re-do paint, re-do all window sealants as they used the wrong product, drywall repair at the total out of pocket cost to us of $1340.00. We wrote a letter to the Pella Headquarters and local dealer who did the installation without response. Before and after photos were taken to show proof of the shoddy installation.

Very nice and helpful representatives. I ended up buying Pella from Lowes because of price savings.

The sales rep was perceptively honest. The installers were very pleasant and professional. This outfit just feels like you're dealing with friends and really was a pleasant experience. We had shopped several replacement window firms and were impressed by the sales reps, but to be honest, we wanted a higher quality window, so we went with Pella, which was middle of the road pricing.

These folks are total pros. Courteous, prompt, honest, and did exactly what they said they'd do. They were on time, cleaned up after themselves, and were friendly. Great team!

They did an outstanding job. We did shop around; we thought they weren’t the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive. We went with them for the quality and they have been around a while.

Mike was super in explaining what I needed and working with me. He helped me figure out window configurations that would work and be most cost effective for me. Kevin's crew did a great job of installation....they were respectful and the craftsmanship was excellent.

The windows they put in are wonderful. Our heating and cooling bills went down to next to nothing.

We hired Pella to do 24 new windows in a remodel we are working on. It is a historic property so certain aesthetic rules must be followed. Chris Berg, the salesman, came to the house for the initial estimate. He was extremely professional and efficient. He did the measurements and emailed me the bid for the job the next day. He was very quick to return emails or phone calls. I gave him word that we were hiring Pella for the job in the middle of December. Given that it was over the holidays and we were trying to arrange everything with Pella, the installation crew and my own schedule, it took a little longer than I would have liked to get everything together, but the end was worth the means. We got the purchase contract signed around the first week of January. The guy at Pella in charge of scheduling called and said they had arranged for our windows to be in Arizona by February 6th but that the crew did not have the 6 days straight it would need to do our house until February 27th. Although it was longer than I would have liked to wait, again, the wait was worth it. They scheduled the work in back to back days so that they were only working on our house until it was finished. Definitely a plus to not have a crew coming and going in between jobs. The Blarney Stone (look them up) was the contracted crew for installation. Now, the windows are beautiful and the wait was nothing at all. I am very happy with the work and very happy with the choice to go with Pella. The price was high because of all of the windows that had to be done. However, they are pine double-hung windows, some of which are over 6ft tall and over 3 feet wide. I had two other companies come and bid the job. One company wanted $32,000 for vinyl windows and another company wanted $35,000 for fiberglass and estimated wood being around $65,000. Pella came in at $36,000 when it was all said and done.

They did a great job and have competitive pricing.

They were great. The sales guy is awesome. He is very knowledgeable. He was very helpful during the process.
