Holiday Spirit Lighting

It went great! I've used two other companies in the past and Tom and Holiday Spirit Lighting are by far the best! This is the second year they installed my lights. They are punctual, professional and friendly. You just couldn't ask for better. They even sent out a postcard right after Christmas informing when they would be taking down the lights! Amazing! Here it is the 4th of January and my lights are already down! I'm on the list for next year! You should sign up, too!

I was very excited to use a provider for Christmas lights, as I usually do them myself. However, I'm getting older and was trying to make my life somewhat easier around the holidays, not to mention saving myself the trouble of going up and down a ladder. I purchased the deal on Angie's list and asked that the lights be installed before Thanksgiving; I thought that would be easier for the provider and would give plenty of time for us to enjoy them. That's where the ease of the deal ended. Keep in mind that I am writing this review fully a year after the service debacle. I have avoided doing it, as I haven't wanted to give anyone a bad review, on the chance that it was an isolated event. However, the Angie's List website has hounded me mercilessly to do the review, so here goes. We had to schedule the light installation three times before the vendor finally showed up. Each time there was just a no show, no phone call, no email, no notice of any kind - they just didn't show up. I even left work early the first time, using up some precious holiday PTO in order to meet them for instructions; a meeting that never took place because they didn't show. Each time I called to reschedule, the call was answered quickly and politely, so I did give a better rating for responsiveness, but the only rating that I could give for punctuality was an F. I was also torn as to what to give for professionalism, because not showing up is indeed very unprofessional, but the calls were answered, and it was explained that they were simply swamped. I have a certain amount of sympathy for a fledgling company who doesn't know what to expect, but I did go so far during one of our phone conversations as to suggest getting a calendar and writing in appointments. In the end, the vendor did show up at our third appointment and gave us an upgrade because of the problems we had experienced. The house looked very good, but I did not decide that it was worth the hassle of doing it again this year. We are doing without Christmas lights this year because I still don't have the time to do them, or to wrangle with companies whose performance is unreliable. I do hope that this vendor was able to get his act together this year and plan better. Seems like a great idea for a business, and the demand is certainly there, so with some organization, he should be able to make it successful.

Great...Tom contacted me early which I really appreciated or I would have forgot last minute. He had read my review from last year and modified his approach by upgrading the lights he used without changing the cost. Nice. He was here the day he said (today) and has done a great job. Professional and friendly crew. Highly recommend

The provider was honest, professional and punctual. He had great follow up and was always available to discuss. I would certainly recommend Tom and his company to anyone. We were very pleased with his company and services.

Perfect...responded right away, eager to please; great attitude and very efficient, quick and friendly! Will get you in the holiday spirit!

It did not go very well. He has pretty much zero customer service and follow through on things. It was very difficult to communicate with him. We actually paid extra to have a little extra lights put up. When we had some problems with the lights, he didn't come and take care of them. I had a hard time getting him to install them. Once he installed them, it was a timely installation. They were very efficient in it. Getting them to take it down took forever. We needed our time on them and they kept on putting it off and they have excuses for not getting the time to do it that he promised. Everything was an uphill battle. I won't be using them again. We paid them an extra $100. We used a few more lights than what was allowed on the Angie's List offer.

He was a very nice man, unfortunetly he no showed twice and when he did show the third time the services weren't what we expected. The worked was moderate. It is hard for me to write a negative review, because I feel like he is a good man that needs some business help.

On the day of the scheduled appointment, the company did not show up at the set time. I called and was told they were running behind and would be there closer to noon. Again, a no show. I called yet again and was told that they would definitely be there late in the day....by 6pm they STILL had not arrived. I received a voice mail apologizing about the missed appointments. The following morning at 7:00am I was awakened by knocking and ringing of my door bell. Tom and his crew were there ready to put up the lights. He immediately told me the lights would look wonderful in the tree. When questioned about our phone conversation regarding lights being installed along the roof he told me that could be done for an additional $400.00! At that point I was so disgusted with their lack of professionalism that I tried to refuse. He tried again to talk me into using their service since they were already at my home. He then showed me the lights which were the SMALL bulbs used on Christmas trees and were clear in color. It was as if he had absolutely no recognition of our phone conversation ---which I firmly reiterated in detail to him. I refused to let them put lights in my tree and shut the front door. I feel this company should never have been allowed on Angie's List!! It's a racket and very misleading. I never heard from them again as far as refunding my money. I believe I am entitled to the refund and definitely want this review posted to forewarn others of their fraudulent practices.

That place was a rip-off. Their price didn’t remain the same. It was like a bait and switch thing where they came and showed me the tiny lights that no one would ever want on their house so they said those are the ones that are $149. It ended up being $300 more and then the $149. A part of it was not lit. They said that they had to bring back like and end and they never did. I had to call them three times. I was very unhappy with them. I had to call them to come and get the lights down two weeks later, after Christmas. It was okay. I didn’t like the fact that we had to keep calling to have them come back. I called them three times and left a message. They could at least call me back and let me know.

The experience was good. His very nice and you have to be patient to get schedule because he is very busy and hard to get. He prompt anp punctual.

Better than we could have ever imagined. If you need festive lights installed for any season, call HSL. There's no way anyone in the Valley of the Sun comes close.

Fine...install was earlier in season that I would have chosen, but they were fully scheduled. They are cheap lights, but installed very well and worked all season.

It was wonderful. They also re-did some lights and hung icicles as well. Very pleased. My neighbors have commented on how beautiful it looks!

I purchased the Angies List Deal, as I have been ill this year and it would be difficult for us to get lights on our house. I contacted Tom when I didn't get a call to install, we did play phone tag a couple of times, then I received an email saying they would install on 12/9. I was disappointed that this date was so late after Thanksgiving but said it was ok. I received a call today that they had a cancellation and could install in 30 minutes. I was thrilled to get them up before the weekend. When Tom arrived he was very personable, and we went over what would be done. When he showed me the lights that were included I was disappointed that they were so small, but said ok after they said they would put them close together to give it more light. They showed me the blunt end LED lights, what they installed is completely different. Since my eye sight is not great I didn't notice until they were gone, that they installed the plain little lights that are put on christmas trees, not the LEDs they showed me. I should have known when I asked when they would come back to take them down, and he said I could just keep the lights and take them down ourself. I would never use these lights again. I am very disappointed, I even asked if I could move up to icicle lights but he said the price would go up too high, he didn't even know what I was willing to pay. I would have been a return customer if the job had been completed better, now I will look to find another company for next year.

They did a good job. We were pretty happy with it. We would also use them again in the future.

Please read my messages as there is a bunch but this last one I sent explains it. What a waste of my time. Tom, What are you talking about you said nothing about location of my house. First you said my roof was too high so I said okay fine just do the lower part. Then you said your booked through the new year and I called you out and said if I called to pay a normal price you would still be booked? Then you emailed me and said your training a new installer and would do my house the following week which is last week. You even emailed me and said you would call me and set a specific time to come. I never received that call. Then you email me and say the first you can do it is Dec 9th and that is just silly and too late. Almost one month after purchase and two weeks after I normally hang my lights. Now you email me and tell me my house is too far out of your service area. Never ONCE did you say this. I don't know if you ever ran a business but this is not the way to do it. You had something that could be a home run and even if you break even this year take care of the customers that would call you next year and leave good reviews. The Angie's list reviews are more important than you even know. They break companies and as looking at yours now your getting the bad reviews. When I bought you had all A ratings and why I bought from you. Anyway I will ask you one last time if you can do my house from now until this Sunday if not I will just cancel this order. Also you have an 888 phone number so aren't you from around queen creek as that prefix is a queen creek number. I wish you the best and if you make a coupon and sell them you should honor them. Now I must wait 7-10 business days to get a refund. Such a waste of time. I didn't leave you an F because you had great communication and always responded within 24 hours. I didn't leave you a D because it is the holidays and I felt bad. So I left a C but you should really be honest with your customers.

It was a busy time of year for them and they worked well and timely.

The description of deal is misleading. He indicates he will install the lights for a typical two story house. When he came out he said he would only install the lighting for the first story. They did not bring ladders. The only lights that they came with were the small christmas tree lights. They did not bring larger ones for the exterior with bulb covers. He would not quote me for additional pricing to install lighting for the second floor, he told me to request a refund through Angies List.

Went well, crew have some good ideas.

I purchased this deal for $149.00, from Holiday Spirit Lighting. I made it clear to them that I wanted the work completed prior to Thanksgiving. When I spoke with the owner on the phone, he told me that the $149 deal was for lights that would really not look good on the trim of my house, and I should upgrade to other lights for an additional $200. This is not something I am willing to do. I feel that their offer was a scam, trying to trap customers into spending more than the $149 advertised for. They also would not schedule a time to install prior to Thanksgiving. I want to cancel the order and get a full refund. Please let me know how to proceed.

I was very pleased with their positive personalities. They were professional and helpful, I would and have recommended them to othet neighbors and friends and I would use them again.

First call he seemed nice. The service provider scheduled and didn't show. Rescheduled for Nov. 26, just received a call to reschedule for December 2, because he didn't even remember that he had talken to me before.

Great! The lights look even better than I expected. They also take the lights down after the holiday! Deciding whether or not to put up Christmas lights on our house has been a yearly debate. I will definitely use Holiday Spirit Lighting again. No more debate at my house!

They were friendly and very professional, polite. Arrived on time.
