Need to find a handyman elsewhere.
Description of Work: WHen they returned my call the woman said there was a service charge for the time to get to my house on top of the $65 per hour charge. She also said they servie all over the valley. So I could be paying for his time to get to my house from clear across the valley. In 40 years of using handymen this never came up before. Perhaps this is common and I just didn't now about it or perhaps this is unique but I hope to find someone who does not charge this.

While service charges are standard in the industry, Handyman Matters prides ourselves on informing customers of all charges before an appointment is made. Some other handyman services may tell you a lump sum for their minimum fee - without explaining the breakdown of charges. We also have a one hour minimum while others have a 2 hour minimum. We do this so that all of our customers have a chance to get all their home maintenance needs taken care of, as no job is too small for us to do! We are sorry we were not able to help out this member, but stand behind our policy of informing our customers of how we work. We work on time and materials, so if you have the materials it’s just our time to get the job done. We have found that this is the fairest way for all to get your home maintenance needs taken care of.

Description of Work: I had another handyman install a 220 outlet for the dryer we were going to get, had the work done over 6 months ago, when the dryer was delivered they told me the outlet was for an RV connection, I called Handyman Matters and they told me in order to change the outlet the person that would come over would have to look at what was done and determine what was needed and go to the store to get the right outlet, they would charge me $40 for coming out and $65 dollars an hour to work on the intem including the time it took to go to the store to get the outlet, and they would not be able to come for another week to do this job. I called another Handyman Connections and they came out the next day and changed the outlet. They had the outlet in there truck. So based on what took place I will deal now with Handyman Connections for the rest of any work that I need to have done.

He was here when he said he was going to be here. They weren't perfect but they were okay. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Handyman Matters of Phoenix to do a bunch of miscellaneous work. They replaced a pole that was holding my roof up. They put up a metal gazebo for me in my pool area. I had them repair a door and finish it off where my A/C was located.

I asked several times for an itemized invoice so I would know what I was paying for. I was given a lump sump type estimate and a general description final invoice. I felt like I was being talked down to and would not recommend their services to other women.The mirrored cabinet was installed in the wall with visible damage in the interior of the cabinet. When I pointed this out I was told it came out of the box damaged. This is totally unprofessional. If a product is damaged out of the box you DO NOT INSTALL it. Since I knew I would be charged for them redoing the work (which might be why they don't do itemized invoices) and I did not want to pay for more poor quality workmanship, I told them I would fix it myself. The cutout in the wall for the mirrored cabinet was sloppy, and so was the caulking, which I also repaired myself. The sink plumbing they installed has never drained properly. The single handled shower faucet was installed such that when it is turned all the way to the hot location it is still luke warm water. I joined Angie's List to find someone who can repair their plumbing work, and for other work I need done. The electrician they sent was excellent, but when I tried to call him back for more work his number was no longer in service.
Description of Work: They were hired to install a bathroom vanity mirrored cabinet, replace a bathroom vanity sink, remove old tiles and install marble shower walls, and install new tub and shower fixtures. I also had them install some ceiling fans and other minor electrical work.

Handyman Matters completes well over 2,000 jobs every year. Unfortunately, occasionally in this business problems do happen. The true test of a company is: How do they respond when a job does not go as planned? In this case, if we had been made aware of any problems or any items the member was unhappy with we would have gone back out quickly and fixed the problems at no additional cost to the member, so we do not know where the member got the misinformation of us charging to re-do or fix work. We can only rectify a situation if we are made aware of a member’s concerns. Since the member never contacted Handyman Matters and did not respond to our follow up phone calls, as a result we were never aware of any issues that this member had. We do not understand why the member did not contact us if she was having a problem on site. We handle all customer concerns in a professional manner and would have addressed her concerns promptly if they had been brought to our attention. When asked by the member for a breakdown of hours, this was supplied to her via email, and was accepted. The member accepted our written estimate which had a breakdown of the scope of work; subsequently the final invoice also had a breakdown of the scope of work, it may not have been detailed to the amount of time spent on each task, but everything was listed and completed per the signed contract. The problem of trying to reach one of craftsman directly for additional work, and not our office, was that the craftsman no longer worked for Handyman Matters and his company phone has been disconnected. We pride ourselves on providing the highest levels of quality and service in the industry. I am sorry our service did not meet this member’s expectations. At Handyman Matters, all of our craftsmen have at least 10 years experience, most 20 years or more. We run background checks on all of our craftsmen. They are all employees, we do not sub contract- so we know they are covered under our workers comp. and liability insurance. When a member chooses Handyman Matters to do their project, they can rest assured they have chosen the right Handyman Service, as we do warranty our work for a year. Of course Handyman Matters is licensed, bonded and insured, and has an A plus rating with the BBB. We are proud to say that we were recently awarded the Super Service Award for 2011. The only way we can accomplish these things is by hiring the best.

Handyman Matters responded quickly and sent out Cesar, who arrived right on time, worked very quickly and did a fantastic job hanging the ceiling fan and light fixture. He was very helpful and was everything I could ask for. I think I've found a new favorite handyman.

I hired them because they came highly recommend to me. Their work turned out really well. Everything was completed on time, and looks great. Also, they were always responsive to my calls. I would definitely hire them for any future projects.

Paul arrived on schedule and took out some of the bedroom carpet in between the hall and the master bath. It is a heavy traffic area and always looked dirty. He installed the matching tiles to perfection. It looks like it was always that way. It was a small job just 20 tiles but it makes a big difference. It looks so nice and clean now.
Description of Work: Paul from Handyman Matters came and removed some of our bedroom carpet and installed tile in it's place. It is a heavy traffic area and the carpet always seemed dirty there so we had it taken out and replaced with tile. Paul was very nice and did the job as scheduled.

Came out to do an initial estimate and went over all other conditions that can arise with bathroom remodels. Paul showed up on time for the next week straight from start to finish. They also advised me of anything extra before they did the work.
Description of Work: I believe our handyman was Paul. He did an excellent job and the craftsmanship was way above my expectations. Handyman matters came highly recommended by neighbor, but I did not expect this. I would definitely use them again. It's great to know that there are companies like this to take care of my property in Arizona when I am not around.
