Eric seemed like a really nice guy, however he is not a very good handy man. When I was at work he moved all my appliances back into their spot and never cleaned up the mud on my new floor. Any time I spilled something the mud from underneath the appliances came out all over my floor. All the cabinets he hung were not done right, there are spaces where they should be touching. He also left a piece of wood hanging from behind the cabinet. None of the new baseboards were painted. He also installed a backyard double door. Somehow he broke something and only one door will open. I paid 1400 for this double door. He really tries to hide all his mistakes. Stay away from Eric the handyman.

We hired Eric to redo our master shower after a recommendation from a friend. We discovered issues immediately with this work and had him come back to fix a few things. His “fixes” were worse than his original work. Less than 2 months after he completed the job we noticed our baseboards were rotting from water leaks and we constantly had standing water in our shower. I reached out to Eric to let him know that we weren’t happy with his work and wanted him to refund a portion of what we paid him. I supplied several photos showing him the results of his work, including the rotting baseboards. He responded that he doesn’t do refunds and he would fix whatever needed fixing. I responded we weren’t satisfied with his fixes and we wanted some money back to hire someone to fix his work. He then became very unprofessional with his responses and I at that time let it go. We are just now in the process of redoing the shower again at our cost with another company. This was a total redo…the entire shower had to be demoed and we had to start from scratch again. This is a list of what Eric left behind. - Tile installed incorrectly (half the tiles were installed the wrong direction) - Cracked grout throughout (his fix was to smear yellowish caulking on my bright white tile) - Broken tile (yes…he installed a broken wall tile) - Chipped tile (he tried to cover up with white epoxy paint) - Step over not installed correctly and would never drain water (he came back to fix by sanding down the metal edging and I believe that’s when he chipped the tile mentioned above, it still didn’t drain properly) - Shower pan (we paid $700 for this pan) was installed incorrectly causing floor to “flex” and grout to crack and leak water (caused rotted baseboards outside of shower) - Floor tile not installed properly causing water to never fully drain - Drain pipe not glued to sewer pipe (all of the dirt below the subfloor was wet from drainage over the past year) - Shower faucet/drain installed off center - Shower head not installed correctly (loose behind the tile) - Tile behind shower handle mechanism cut too big and not sealed, allowing water to get behind tile - Exhaust fans not installed properly, insulation drops on our floor every time we run them - Insulation not replaced in attic after drywall work was completed - Wall patching/texturing needed to be sanded down and redone - Wall he painted in bathroom needed a second coat and edges cleaned up

Im going to give you the full story so I apologize on this being lengthy however I feel as though all details should be explained and hopefully I can prevent this from happening to another consumer! My boyfriend and I just bought our first house and we have so much we want to do to it. We are fairly young ( 24 & 25 ) and had no idea where to begin so naturally we turned to our parents for advice, my mom specifically. My moms husband happen to have a family friend or someone that he has known for over 10 years that he recommended to us. Eric Mills or "Eric the Handyman" Met us at our new house for a little consult, or as he said "A job interview". Im assuming my moms hubby told him that we a had a ton of little projects we needed help with so he seemed very interested. We walked him through our empty house and discussed some little visions we had from re finishing cabinets to installing new appliances, changing fixtures to hopefully changing our flooring one day. The first and most important project to my boyfriend was hanging up our new TV over the fireplace which we were concerned about not having studs in the wall. He said that he actually had time today to do so and went to gather his tools after agreeing on a price ($100). My mom and step dad left and my boyfriend and I watched him do the entire job for about an hour. We were impressed not only at his work with the tv but he was also hilarious and a really nice guy! We were pumped at how the tv and soundbar turned out and payed him and he was on his way. We thought we found our man! our handyman that is. We were stoked that we would have someone to help us turn our house into our dream house and loved that he was enjoyable to be around. We ended up purchasing brand new beautiful Kitchenaid applianced at the Labor Day sale at Home depot. We ended up getting a new dishwasher, range, and hood. We mentioned to Eric that we wanted a hood and he goes okay cool where is it going to vent out of? Quickly slapping my 24 year old self back to reality lol. I have a vision but I don't always think things through. I thought you just hung the bad boy up! He said he would have to cut a hole and make a vent so once the hood was installed it would actually ventilate out of the house. I ended up having a last minute business trip to London and my boyfriend works 60 hours a week and we wanted to get this done asap. STUPIDLY we trusted Eric to Install this while we were not home. We wouldn't have done this with a random guy but given the history with him and my step dad and our interaction with him the first time we met him we trusted him. And we don't have much in the house so we locked up our important stuff in our safe but we were not to worried. Eric came to install on September 12th. When my boyfriend got home he came home to a bit of a mess. Allot of dry wall dust everywhere and fingerprints all over the hood and appliances. Just over all a sloppy job. As he looked closer he noticed huge scratches on top of our brand new never been cooked on stove top! It looked as though he set the hood down right on top of it and scratched it all up. Also multiple little dents on the hood. AGAIN THESE ARE BRAND NEW AND NOT CHEEP! I woke up in London to photos and I about cried. Im not sure what exactly happened as he is not taking responsibility but anyone that is running a handy man business should be more careful when dealing with a clients property and should most definitely take ownership of this. Although he claimed the scratches were not caused by him he said that he would come over and " fix the scratches". Again we work like crazy so my mom went over to meet him. We were also extremely upset so it was best that my mom dealt with him. I received photos of the "fixed job" and was still not impressed as it is still scratched up and whatever he used to buff it made a different type of scratch and weird smudges that won't clean off. The hood has so many nicks and scratches as well like he just didn't care about what he was doing at all. We asked for him to replace this and he said absolutely not it is not his responsibility. Poor business if you ask me and horrible customer service. We are trying to figure out a solution currently but please people DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. Accidents happen every day and I understand that but the way he has handled this is wrong and something needs to be done. TAKE OWNERSHIP. I also have text messages from him being argumentative pointing out the type of car that my boyfriend drives implying that money isn't an object. Well guess what Eric money does not grow on trees and regardless of the fact that we own a home and have one decent car does not give you the right to destroy our things? Who says that kind of stuff anyway? We work hard for what we have and worked hard to buy the appliances that are now damaged! Looks like we will have to find a new contractor to help us with our renovations. I have before and after photos as well that I will attach if possible.
Description of Work: Eric installed a hood above our stove. We took the cabinet and microwave down before he came to do the job. ( The kitchenaid hood was brand new and in the box with a protective film on it and our brand new matching kitchenaid stove was already installed and had never been used at the time he came to install the hood)

WARNING !!!!! READ THIS BEFORE HIRE "ERIC the HANDYMAN" Eric the Non Licenced Handymans poor knowledge caused us thousands of $$$$ down the drain and into our neighbors garage that we had to repair... You always hear stories about people that has been screwed when they do remodels. You never think it will happen to you. That's what we thought after having done many remodels in many different countries. It happened and with these words I want to warn people who is thinking about using ERIC the HANDYMAN for anything more complicated than changing a lightbulb or painting a not-so-often used mudroom. Eric the Handyman can be convincing. He tells you he is qualified and he shows pictures of all big jobs he has done. Don't believe a word he tells you. All he is good at is being a big time liar. He cheats, he's a BIG time scam and nothing else. A looser with some tools in his hands. We hired him for a few minor jobs and he proved himself by fixing them on time and in an ok matter. He heard we were planning to remodel our master bath and he convinced us, by telling us about all the big jobs he has done and, that that was really what he did... besides being a handyman. He gave us a quote for doing the entire Master Bathroom, a copy of the Guest Bathroom that we had just finished remodeling using professionals. It was a fair quote and not an underestimate. 60 upfront and 40 when it was done. He promised us he would set away his entire time until the project was done and NOT take any other jobs. Read that carefully... NOT take any other jobs until our Master Bathroom was done. The job should have taken approximately 3 weeks. That's exactly what the Guest Bath took. Then trouble began. Eric showed up at 9/10 am and stayed for about 4 hours. Some days he didn't show up at all. He always had an excuse. In the beginning we believed him but as time went by we got more and more frustrated with his text-messages telling us he was not showing up... because of this and because of that, frustrating to say the least. We discovered that he did exactly what he had promised us NOT to do. I guess with a big deposit in hand it's tempting to take every minor handyman job he was asked to do. And leave the bigger commitment to become a less than half time job. We thought he would never get done and every time he left, our place was in a complete mess because he was always in a hurry to rush to another temporary job that paid him that little extra money. Then we started to realize that he, Eric the Handyman, had no clue as to what he was doing. But, unfortunately it was to late. At the very end, 7 weeks after he started, with an impressive 3,5 hours average daily show up, he said he was done. We were truly happy to get rid of him... never to see him again and the daily mess he created and left us with. We turned on our new shower and it turned into a waterfall in our neighbors condo down below us. That's how badly built it was, not to mention the rest of "his" remodel. Not only did we have tear down the new shower and start from scratch. We also had to pay for all repair jobs in our neighbors condo below. It makes Eric the Handyman a disgrace for Angies List and all other honest and qualified workers out there. Think about that before you hire ERIC the NON-LICENCED HANDYMAN

I live in an old house. I am sure the toilets haven't been replaced in fifty years. Replacing them immediately had become a necessity. We had called one company and they said they could not remove the toilets, claiming it was a very involved task. The plumber believed the toilets had been cemented in, and they could not remove them. Both in frustration and because members of my family had prior experience with Eric The Handyman, I called him. Eric came ready to work, took a look at both toilets and told me he didn't think they were cemented in, and he would try to pull out one toilet and checked. I am very appreciative of the work. He pulled out the other toilets as well, added fresh sealant and installed the toilets without damage to my walls or tiled floors. Eric saved me hundreds of dollars. Oh, Eric did several other jobs as well. All done in four hours. Thank you Eric!
Description of Work: He installed two toilets at half the cost quoted by a local plumbing company. I was told by the plumbing company that additional work would have to be done, prior to the installation. No such thing!

First off, Eric is by far the most responsive handyman I contacted to get this job completed. After a phone call describing the work involved he was able to come by and take care of the hookup between jobs. He didn't seemed rushed at all, even though it was between jobs. He verified the gas hookup and when we smelled gas he squeezed back into the small work area to address it. He offered to look at something else we had but we decided that he could look at it when we put together our full list of items and have him back out.

I am disappointed with Eric and would definitely NOT recommend him. He came out and spent 1 hour doing work, 15 minutes on a personal call and charged me for 2 hours and said that was the minimum ($90) which he didn't tell me beforehand. Plus, when I asked him about the list I had, he said he could come back in 3 weeks, which is really long time to wait. Overall, I feel it was a complete waste of $90 and 90% of what I wanted to get done wasn't done, he hung fans and spackled a wall which we could have done in 30 minutes. Do not use him, waste of time and money. Oh, one more thing, he said he did two things that he did not and I was in a hurry and didn't check his work, so he is also dishonest...do not use him.

Basically everything in the above say's it all,but we can go on.He never replaced the cornices. He had the only rec eipt. We talked about the receipt problem prior, but it got nowhere. He was also short on the door stops. The one thing that was done right was his grout work. He set us up between a big job. So we saw him for a day then he would be gone for two weeks then be back. n be back again
Description of Work: He was to put door stoppers randomly around the house and never finished. Bought the wrong kind of cornices .Bought the wrong color paint because he wouldn't drive the few extra miles to pick up the branded paint I wanted,he explained another brand which was sold done done the street was the same. Of course we noticed but he never returned. He overcharged me for the materials. When confronted he got mad and told me he didn't want to continue my work. He refused to sit like a man and sort it out, He did more but Ifill by using Eric your letting yourself in for the same if not for the same amount of aggravation and a loss of money

If personable, trust-worthy, diligent, straight-forward and dependable are things that you want in a handyman, I would recommend Eric. After only being in my house for 10 minutes, I could tell this guy had strong work ethic and interest for his job. I called him for a ceiling fan installation and he made himself available that evening. He had already pre-purchased some supplies to cut down on the install time. In all honesty, I'd love to keep this guy a secret so he would be available when I need him but a guy like Eric deserves to be recommended for his services.

We searched Angie's List for a good handyman. Eric the Handyman was called after several others could not get the job done soon enough. Eric actually called and cancelled the initial appointment since he was working on a big job. We were ok with this slip as our schedule had changed anyway and Eric was so pleasant on the phone. Today he came and completed the job in 2 hours. He was personable, friendly and very professional. He completed the job and we leak tested the plumbing and all was good on the first try. After we paid, Eric stayed for another 30 minutes talking to my wife and I and giving us a quote on other work we want done. We would not hesitate to call Eric again in the future. While he is typically booked out a week or two, this is understandable given his skills and how hard it is to find someone reliable and professional.
