I asked him to leave as the quote was ridiculous. Maybe it's because I was a woman and he thought I was stupid. I had it fixed the same day by a competitor for $165... out the door! Oh and they up graded the spring quality at the same time.
Description of Work: Came out to repair 1-broken tension spring, the other spring was 3 months old. The technician told me I also needed a new cable, as he showed me look its too loose. Duh, the spring is broken! He told me it was $580 dollars out the door. Shameful!!!!!

I had them come out to adjust the retention spring on the door. The crew led by Mike was clearly skilled at what they do because they were here and gone in like 15 minutes and I was able to get my cars out of the garage. So I do not question their technical skill or quality of Precision Door aftermarket parts. However Mike apparently overcharged me by $85.00 as I would find out later. After a call to the local headquarters to check that the price charged was indeed correct I was initially told it was correct. However concerned by my frustration (I believe his name was Eric) at Precision called me back and said there was an $85.00 overcharge and said they would fix the discrepancy. The same service from the company that installed the door was a total of $85.00+tax. Wish I had called them first and not right after Precision left, but I felt I had been overcharged and wanted to confirm my suspicion. The correct total cost to have the spring adjusted by Precision was $175.00 plus another $39.99 for roughly 12 sprays of lubricant which I had done myself earlier that day. So I payed $200.34 plus tax for what apparently another competitor charges $85.00 for. They also quoted over $400 to install an opener that I would supply. The competitor that I called after they left quoted $130+tax for the same installation, I know it's accurate as I used them on a prior install. Precision said they would make the $85 over charge right though it is not yet reflected on my account. When I told Mike that I recalled paying closer to $150 for the previous install he suggested I go with the competition as well. In the end, shame on me because I did have a chance to decline service like my gut told me I should. However that doesn't change that I feel I was fleeced for paying roughly 2.5x what the competition charges. In the future I think I will take Mikes advice and stick to the competition.

He did a terrific job. He did both houses the same day.
Description of Work: Precision Door Service tuned up the garage door and put on silicone wheels. It was a big deal purchase. He put in springs in both of the homes. On one of them he found the nylon wheels were stripped and he also put in a new garage door opener.

A spring broke in my garage door late at night (7PM on a Friday). I called around and this was the only place that was able to come out. I was skeptical reading all the reviews but since my cars were trapped inside the garage and I could not even open the doors manually, i had no choice. The door only had one spring on it and the tech recommended that i replace with 2 springs (each $250 + tax). The tech also wanted to bolt on a full tuneup of my garage door and wanted a total of around $1050 for about 1.5 hours worth of work. I asked tech to just replace the springs. He did do a good job with that but i denied the extra tune up. The next day i called around and found that i was over charged for the springs when compared to other similar garage door companies. This seems like a consistent theme with this company. Will not use them again!

It was to the tune of several hundred dollars. It’s just too coincidental for it to break when he got there. I heard a big bang when it broke. It’s too coincidental to break at that time that he was there messing with it. I would tell others that if they have any experience like I do, I wouldn’t trust them. I guess the price was okay. I never paid for a spring before. Responsiveness was okay.
Description of Work: I don’t remember just a tune up. He actually broke a spring himself and overcharged us. That’s why we had him call back.

It went okay. Of course they wanted to replace the whole garage door but we just had them put a bar on top of it. It was kind of expensive but what the deal that we paid for, they did all right with that they did good with that. The service was good. They showed up on time but I thought their prices were just a little bit high. He was courteous. The work that he did, he did it well.

They did what they had to do and that was fine. A few weeks later though, and I don't think it's their fault, the motor went out too. It's still working right now but it's just weird how both things almost went down at the same time. They were fine. They communicate fine. It went okay for what it was. I probably would use them again.

They provided good service. They were fair and reasonably priced. There were no problems with scheduling. I probably could’ve had a new door put on for a bit more money, but it wouldn’t have been as high of quality. They gave options for both

Our garage door would not open and we could tell one of our two black tension springs was broken. Since Precision Door Service had replaced this EXACT same spring on our garage door back in 2010, we called them first since the part was covered under a 10 year parts warranty as indicated on our previous receipt. I called at 4 pm and Jeff said they could have a technician out by 6 pm. No one showed up so we called back at about 6:30pm. Jeff said the technicians truck broke down and that another one was on the way. We had to call 3 more times (each time they told us the technician was on the way) when finally a technician showed up at 9pm! Our original receipt showed each spring labor price at 99/each, for a total price of 350 for both springs, wheel replacements 99, and labor. The second bill in which the spring was covered under warranty was 165.00??. How can they charge over half of the original bill for only labor on a so called "warranty" repair?? This outfit is a total scam with no real warranties. I would not trust this company, nor their employees. Their pricing is inflated with hidden charges and service fees. Don't go with them, you will regret it and only get ripped off. ONE LAST NOTE, WHEN THE INSTALLER CAME IN, HE STATED THAT HE THOUGHT THE PRICE OF THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE SPRING WAS 150.00. AFTER HE COMPLETED THE WORK, HE WENT BACK TO HIS TRUCK, CAME BACK, AND SAID THE ACTUAL REPAIR WAS 165.00. NICE WAY TO DO BUSINESS.......ANY RESPONSE??? THESE GUYS ARE NEITHER THE BEST, NOR FAIREST. GET READY TO PAY WAY MORE THAN YOU THINK WHEN CALLING THEM.

The installers were great. THey were telling me that this company just opened this location in texas. So I hope this helps them grow here. They did an amazing job, took them around 2 hours and when they were done the garage was perfect on the first try. I highly recommend this company. There were a few cheaper companies ( not by much). No other company could come out immediately and offer me a lifetime warranty. Best purchase in a while. The garage door opens like a ninja. Really quite and smooth. Christian
Description of Work: THe springs on our garage door broke and caused a lot of damage. The installers replaced all parts that needed to be replaced but the best part was they came out in an hour of the call and that's what got my business.

It went fine. When we originally called the company the receptionist said that we would save on the service call if we bought the coupon on Angie's list. When the technician came he said there was no service call fee if they did repairs. We did have them make the repairs we needed done, and it just turns out we do not need the service call voucher and have a 3 year warranty on the work they did.

First thing is they want to sell you their "high cycle" springs which run almost $600 for the pair. When I balked at the price the installer said he'd give me a discount. OK, I'm listening. Then he tried to add on an $195 installation fee. When I balked at that he said he'd waive it. Basically they'll try to jack up the price to whatever they can get. I told them to leave, not interested in being jerked around. I'm not going to haggle over a service like this. Set a price and stick to it. I called another repair company and they do the job for just over $200 with a 10 year warranty. Caveat Emptor.

Response from Elite Garage Doors & Gates
At Precision Garage Door of AZ, our technicians are trained to assess how much the customer uses their garage door. For most of our customers, the garage door is the main point of entry and exit of their homes, in fact we have found that our customers use their garage door more than they use their front door. Nationally the average family uses their garage door four times a day. In our experience, our customers use their garage door much more than four times a day. Garage door manufactures consider 10,000 cycles to be the average life of a standard spring. A cycle is defined as the garage door going up and down one time. Depending on the weight of the door a “High Cycle” spring has an average life of 40,000 to 50,000 cycles. We believe a customer should make an informed decision about the life cycle of their springs that balances both the initial dollar investment of the spring and the expected return on that investment (the number of cycles over the life of the spring). It appears for whatever reason that our technician did not properly educate this customer about the value of purchasing high cycle springs versus low cycle springs and we have taken the necessary steps to correct that. As it relates to warranty, a warranty is only as good as the company that issues the warranty. Precision Garage Door of AZ is the only company in Arizona that offers our customers 24/7 live telephone service and the only company in Arizona that has emergency service available to our customers from 8 in the morning until 12 midnight every night of the week. At Precision, we pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our customers and look forward to serving your garage door needs in the future.

Work fast and efficient. Showed me why I needed a new motor and springs and gave me more than one option since the work would be expensive. Answered all my questions. Only problem, I used to be able to use buttons in my car to open my garage door and open the front gate to my gated complex. No longer worked after installation. I was told new unit on different frequency. Also, unit came missing one bulb. I was asked for another from my home. Also came with one remote. Technician when to truck and got me a second.

The garage door wouldnt open. I had to manually open the door so my wife could get to work. That then broke some parts. I regret ever choosing this product. No warranty coverage applied as they said i broke it. Ridiculous as the door wouldnt open. They then told me i should have bought a "service agreement" ridiculous...for what i paid between the original installation and repairs a customer could have 4 sears craftsman door openers installed.

I purchased a precision garage door opener in 2008 under the assumption it was superior quality versus what was available through places like Home Depot. I was completely wrong. The door would not open in June 2014 and I tried everything to get the door open. My wife had to get to work so I manually opened the door. Several pieces broke as a result. I don't argue the pieces we're broke as a result of that effort but the manual opening of the door was the only option I had left. The door wasn't functioning properly. I argued this with precision door company who indicated no warranty coverage. They also stated I should have had a service contract on the door. It's a garage door! I nor none of my neighbors are going to pay annual service contracts for a garage door for supposedly superior quality made products. I paid 1k for the initial installation in 2008. I was then charged an outrageous price of $1300 for repairs. The up charge on these parts were egregious. So the only guy on the block that doesn't have the standard issue garage door opener installed is the only one paying ridiculous prices and having problems with the operations of the door. I would never use this company, reference them or this product line to anyone. The only difference from a Sears craftsman version is its quieter. And so what, I would pay considerably less and deal with 30 seconds of garage door noise. I could have had a Sears craftsman installed several times when considering what I have paid. I completely regret considering this door company and using this service. Stay with Home Depot or lowes versions. They are more than adequate.

Our garage door would not close one evening and we called Precision Door Service since they advertise emergency 24/7 repair. The customer service agent gave us the next available time that a technician was available and the technician arrived promptly at the time given. He performed a full assessment of the door and gave us a range of options for the repair and the price for each. We were able to choose the option that we felt was best and were not pressured to make a more expensive repair choice. The door needed new rollers as they were no longer staying in the track, but the door was still structurally sound, so we opted for replacing the rollers and associated hardware. The repair was performed efficiently and the technician was friendly and courteous to my husband who supervised the repair. The door performs beautifully. I would definitely call Precision again should I need garage door service.
