Garage door & openers installation, repair & maintenance.
Did regular "tune up" on garage door. I thought one of my garage door opener gadgets was malfunctioning. However, when it was tested on the spot, it did work. Later, it didn't work again and I should have had it replaced (for a known extra charge). The service was fine and thorough. After the fact, the only doubt was that they did replace my metal wheels with plastic ones. It made it quieter, but in hindsight, I wondered if the plastic ones are less durable and must be replaced sooner, especially with AZ summer heat. I don't know.

The technician was quick/efficient in doing the job I'd requested plus spent some time explaining to me how the door works and that another system is about wear out. He gave me a quote on the price of the overhaul, and I expect I will call him back when the time comes to get it done.

WOW! Talk about efficient! I love these guys! I bought a service with a coupon and they called me within an hour of my purchase. We scheduled for the next day. The service guy was prompt, pleasant and thorough. Best of all, he didn't try to "up sell" me like so many do when you use a coupon! Will be calling them when I'm ready for a new garage door, for sure!

The person who was scheduled to fix my garage door seemed knowledgeable but wanted to sell me a new bearings and springs. He told me that they only last 5 yrs and would probably go soon but I told him that have lasted for 9 yrs now and seem ok. He called 5 minutes before my time frame was up to tell me that he was running late and would be about 30 more min. All in all I guess it was not a bad experience.

Expensive. There were 2 kinds of springs offered. One was short warranty and the other was more expensive longer warranty. I asked for the short warranty spring and lo behold he did not have that one in stock and offered me the higher warranty spring for the price of the lower warranty one. What if I had asked for the higher warranty one? Would the techician have divulged this info? Created deficiency of trust.
Description of Work: Garage door spring broken. This was replaced. Also, a metal bar to reinforce the door was added (recommended by the technician). He also wanted to reinforce the 2nd garage door which I declined.

I purchased a $99.00 coupon from Angie's List, which included garage door tuneup and roller replacement. I called this company and explained that my one car garage door only opened to about 2 feet off the ground and would get stuck there. Over the phone, I was told everything would be checked and lubricated, tested for safety and rollers replaced for $99.00. Serviceman came by two days later. Serviceman explained that several parts needed replacing at a cost of $899.00 (YES, eight hundred and ninety nine dollars). I was shocked. I told him a could buy a whole new door for that kind of money. I asked if he would just make the door close and safe. He said he could replace some parts for $450.00. I asked if that included the $99.00 already paid. He said no. I then decided I needed a second opinion and he left. He totally understood and was very polite.Looking through my mailers, I found GDS garage door services. They showed up the same day and thoroughly explained why the door wasn't closing. The reapirs were done, many parts were replaced, door was leveled and I have a one year warranty on parts and labor. Total cost to me was $340.00. Dearest Angie, I want my $99.00 back from Precision Overhead Garage Door services. Will you help me?n which include garage door tuneu

We purchased the Angie's List "Big Deal" for Lube & Tune-up with roller replacement. We scheduled the appointment, and due to a miscommunication with the person who answered the phone (who was polite and professional, incidentally), the original technician did not realize he was there to do the Angie's List work. He merely provided us with an estimate for garage repairs, some reported as more important than others, but none stated as a serious risk. Upon re-scheduling, we ensured both with the office and the technicians that they were there to do the Lube & Tune-up with the roller replacement. The technician looked at the coupon and seemed like this was new information to him, but the rollers were in fact changed. I had erroneously assumed that a Lube & Tune-up would quiet the door, but unfortunately noticed very little difference after the work was (very quickly) completed. Finally, we received a letter in the mail from the company stating that the technician failed to collect the Angie's List coupon and that the company could not find the purchase by address or last name and asked us to forward them that information. (This was not true, as the technician had the coupon with him during the completion of the work because of the previous misunderstanding.) While our interactions with the company were polite and professional for the most part, the disorganization makes me leery of hiring them for additional work and we will likely choose a different company when our garage door needs full replacement.

My garage door opener was not working. The repairman showed up promptly, fixed the garage door opener quickly, and supplied me with two automatic garage door openers. He also coded the keypad do I could get in with the keypad. He was professional. The garage door opener works very well now and is also very quiet. I am very satisfied with the service. The only suggestion I have is that afterwards he wait around for me to test it to make sure it works and also to show me how it works. I had told him I never had an automatic garage door before, so I was not familiar with all the buttons on the garage door opener and keypad. Afterwards, the repairman asked me to give his company an A on Angie's list. Though he did very good work, and I did give him an A, I thought it was inappropriate to ask me to give him an A. It would be appropriate to ask me to give the company a rating on Angie's list, but not to tell me what rating to give.

They 1st guy who came to do the inspection and give quote was in the window. I pushed them hard to get everything done the same day, and they got it done, but the actual work crew showed up later than originally committed. They did quality job. Not 100% perfect quality wise, with some minor defects but overall very good. ---Update---- They contacted me to see what could be done to fix any issues. Due to travel, I haven't been able to take them up on their offer, but would like to increase their grade due to their follow through.

He was prompt and on time. I showed him the garage door and told him what I thought the problem was. He just took a quick look and told me I needed a new garage door. He quoted me a price of $1,400.00. When I told him I was only wanting to spend $1,000.00 he made a call and a few seconds later said it was $1,000.00. He then told me that if I didn't use him for the job there would be a $55.00 charge. I felt that he didn't really look at the job and wanted to take the easy way out and replace the door instead of fixing it and he should have told me about the $55.00 fee when I called him originally. So I reluctantly paid the $55.00 and said have a nice day.

I paid for a garage door tune up because I was having a few issues. The technician didn't even watch the door go up or down but said I needed new springs & roller things approx $ 800 in work but he would give it to me for $ 600. He wasn't going to even do the service until I insisted. It was like pulling teeth to get what he was originally paid for but he did it. He was rather whack a mole with putting in the wheels on the track. In the meantime my garage door is working just fine it was a light reflection hitting the sensor that was making it bounce up & not shut.
Description of Work: A tune up (which I found out after ordering it) was to include lubrication & new wheels in the track.

I called Precision Door Service, and they give me a 2hr timeslot for a service call. The technician was professional and called me about 15 mins ahead to let me know that he was coming. The technician diagnosed that the circuit board was not functiona and gave me options on 3 different garage door openers. The best door opener option, was the most expensive, but also came with a lifetime warranty. The technician did not pressure me into a purchase, which I did appreciate. Given the better quality of the opener, and the lifetime warranty, I decided to go with the option. The installation was completed within an hour and a half. I did ask the technician to explain how the emergency release worked. I felt (and this is my perception), that he was a little rushed at this point. He showed me that a simple release of the emergency cord would release the garage door for a manual operation, and pulling it again would reengage it, but did not have me test the release and reengagement. The property where I had this installed is a rental. The same evening I tried to test the emergency release with my tenant. While I was able to release the emergency release, I had trouble reengaging the door opener. My tenant tried and he was not able to either. My biggest disappointment was the response I got when I called Precision Door. I explained that I had a new door was installed, and that I was having trouble reengaging the opener after using the emergency release. They said they could have the technician come over the next day (Friday) between 10 am and 12 pm. I explained that this time would not work for me, and asked for a 3 to 5 pm slot. They said that time slot would not be possible, and they could next schedule the technician for Monday (3 days later). I asked why another technician could not be dispatched, and the response was that the company policy was to have the same service technician. I can understand the desire to have the same technician come back, and every company has the right to have their own policy. But if other technicians are available, and I cannot get a response for 3 days, it leaves a very poor impression with me, after spending $685 on what is supposed to be the best product with a lifetime warranty. I felt the response I got was what a large cold company would say "this is our policy..." without a willingness to listen to the customer. A key reason I chose Precision Door was because of the positive reviews on Angie's list, and Precision's statement on their website to work with their customer's schedule "Whether you need your garage door repaired today or in the evening to avoid having to take time off from work, at Precision Garage Door Repair, we are here for you when you need us..". I do think the product is good (time will tell), so I will not hold off on recommending the product or the company. However, for the benefit of the company, I would say that the simple step of having the customer test the emergency release operation (both engagement and reengagement) could result in avoid future frustration for customers. Also, based on my experience I dont believe the statement "Whether you need your garage door repaired today or in the evening to avoid having to take time off from work, at Precision Garage Door Repair, we are here for you when you need us.." is true, based on my experience, and this is the reason for my poor rating on responsiveness.

I called Precision Overhead as one of the springs of my garage door was broken and they were the only company able to accomodate my schedule late in the afternoon. I was told that there is no charge for the service call. The technician showed up as promised. He told me it would cost $379 to replace the springs and the cables. I told him that another company had quoted me $130 and he said it was probably just for one spring but that it would be necessary to replace both springs and the cables. I told him I was not willing to pay that much and only want to have fixed what is really broken. He said each spring costs $149. While the technician went to his truck I called the other provider who told me that the price he quoted was for both springs and that it is not necessary to replace the cables unless they are frayed. I told the technician what I had learned and he then said that his competitor must not have a legitimate business and made other disparaging remarks. He was not willing to give me a fair price and then wanted to charge me for the service call. I refused to pay it. This is definitely not a company I would recommend. A slight difference in price would have been acceptable but to go from $130 to $379 is outrageous. I would rather wait a little for the other provider than to overpay that much.

Purchased one of the Angies List on-line $99 specials for roller replacment and a tune up on my garage door in April. We set an appointment and Precision showed up in early May (we had the 1st appointment in the morning - they were an hour late.) When they got to the house, one of the service techs talked to my wife and wanted to see the printed invoice for the services I had purchased since they didn't know what they were there to do (???) My wife called me at work and explained the situation. I talked the one of the crew and explained what I had ordered. He said they needed to see the order. Fortunately, I had left a copy of the Internet purchase on my home printer. The crewman told me that the copy I had didn't have the right order number on it, but with my explanation of what I had ordered and the copy of the invoice we gave them he would go ahead and do the work. My wife calls back about 15 minutes later and says they are all done and ready to leave. I asked her if they had adjusted the door or just replaced the rollers. She wasn't sure, so I asked to speak to the crew again. I was told that they had changed the rollers and done a "tune up" on the door. I found it hard to believe they were done in 15 minutes, but said thanks and they left. When I got home I saw they had replaced the rollers, but the noise and jerky motion of the door opening suggested they had not aligned the door or done a "tune up", which I expected was going to minimize those problems. To me, it appeared all they did was replace the rollers. Not at all what I expected - I could have gone to Home Depot and replaced the rollers myself for less than $50. Three months later (now July) I am considering calling out another company to align and "tune up" my garage door. I'll never order another "special" deal off of Angies List again. You get what you pay for.

As with all of our customers Member was initially given a 2 hour window for this appointment, 8am to 10am. The technician was at the home at 9am. We did complete the Lube & Tune on the door in question. However, in addition to completing the tune-up the technician made several recommendations based on his inspection of the door. These recommendations included replacing the bearings, cables, and torsion springs. These repairs were not authorized and therefore the door was not in top operating condition. Unfortunately a Lube and Tune of the door does not solve all of the problems when a door has worn, broken, or damaged parts on it. I am sure if the additional repairs had been authorized the door would operate smoothly. I would be very happy to return and complete the recommended repairs for Member if he desires. Precision Door Service is committed to quality workmanship and also to taking care of our customers.

Precision overhead garage is an over priced company that has some good coupons offers on angies list. Most will never “get away” with using one of their coupons without needing additional work on your garage. That additional work is priced so high. My garage door fell off its rollers and when the automatic opener was used, it caused some damage to tracks. I bought a coupon for a 41% discount “garage door tune-up plus roller replacement”. So 109$ instead of $185. Repair person, Kyle, came at 1:30pm and got my spouse to authorize a $927.95 bill for work and parts that was done in ONLY TWO HOURS! There were a lot more parts involved in the roller replacement coupon. But, that's my point. YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED ADDITIONAL PARTS ON AN OLDER DOOR. That's why this company and their GREAT coupon offers makes for a VERY BAD experience for you. RUN RUN RUN. I included a picture of my old door that still has its greasy hand prints on it when the job was done. That's right. After this expensive bill, I still have the same old greasy 16' x 7' garage door.

The special we had running on Angie's List was for 109.00, it included life time neoprene nylon rollers with sealed 13 ball bearings. It also included lubrication and balance if the springs were good, It also included a 25 point safety inspection. The technician arrived to fulfill the special promotion work that the customer purchased. A women met the Technician at the door and the Technician proceeded to do his work. Once he had completed the inspection he had the customer review it with him. The door is old and did need other parts as the complaint verifies. Many screws were stripped, the track was out of position and the door was crooked, not aligned. A very unsafe situation! Most people never service their garage doors even though it's the largest moving object in their home. The technician presented the customer with options for making the door last many more years. He offered 3 different overhaul packages and the customer chose the platinum package with the life time warranty on parts for 899.00. We can offer lifetime warranty because we only use the best parts and we only use highly trained Technicians. We discounted the Angie list coupon he bought for 109 and his total bill with tax is 808.82 and that's what he was charged. With a life time warranty on parts! When our technician was finishing his work, The customer husband came home from Golfing. He stopped to talk to the technician to see what he was doing. The technician showed him what he had done and the customer went into the house. He was upset that his wife had made the decision to do the complete overhaul on the garage door. We do not get into household politics, it's impossible to know who is allowed or not allowed to make decisions in a home. We give options and we only do the work that is authorized. Our customer must agree too the work offered and sign our work order authorizing the work before we do anything, and of course there is never any obligation. We are a professional Company, We are licensed, insured and bonded, we are open 24/7 365 days a year and we back up all our work 100% any day of the week at anytime. Our technicians are uniformed and our trucks are marked. I am not happy that there was finger prints left on the door and I will gladly send out one of my personal to clean it to the customers complete satisfaction. Our techs do clean up after themselves it obviously just an oversight possibly caused by the customers hostility towards the technician when he arrived home. We know we are not the cheapest company out there and we don't want to be, We want to be the best and we are. We serve over 12,000 customers a year and have been in business since 1986. We are going to be here when our customers need us, our warranties really mean something, Many other companies have went out of business and we have to go to their old customers house to fix what they should have under warranty but of course they are no longer in business. You get what you pay for and we deliver. Thank You

I do not think the technician was honest.
Description of Work: I didn't have a remote control garage opener for the house I recently purchased.I wanted to be able to have my car programmed, get a remote control and possiblepurchase a security box to get into the garage. I asked the phone rep to be sure that the technician had a security, combinationbox with him when he came to my house. The technician came on time. He wanted to sell me a complete refurbishment ofmy garage door unit for close to $800. All I wanted was to control my unitfrom a remote. He said I wouldn't be able to do this without purchasing anexternal receiver for $150.00. He said that the remote would cost an additional$50.00. It would be $200.00 plus a service call of $55.00. He said he didn't haveany combination locks on his truck. t told him I wouldnot need his services and had to pay the service call. I called a handyman thatwent to the store for me and only charged me $100.00: for purchasing and programming the universal remotepurchasing and installing a combination box on the garage frame, and programmingmy car with the new garage code. He did this without an external receiver that the Precision tech said I needed to $150.00. The service tech gave me the wrong information. Needless to add, I don't think I needed a complete garage overhaul for close to $800. either.door overhaul either.

We went to this customers house to help her. We did have the parts that she wanted on the truck. Her opener is old and the door is even older. The technician gave her options on what her door needs, it's in poor shape. We must do an inspection on every door and we must let each customer know what we find. Should anyone get hurt from a bad door when we leave a customer would not hesitate to blame us. The tech told her that she may need an external receiver if the Key-less entry does not work. We are a professional Company and we back our work 100%. We have uniformed technicians, marked Trucks, insured and bonded, etc. We will be here when the customers need us 24/7 365 days a year. The customer told us we were 100.00 to high. We cant compete with the pricing a non licensed, non insured, non trained handy man gives her. We are sorry she is not happy but there was nothing we could do for her. If you want professional dependable work done call us. This is an unfounded complaint and should be removed no work was done at this home

Outstanding service! For the first time, the company actually called me to set up an appt after I bought the Angie's list garage tune up deal. Not only that, he called the same day and the technician came out the same day which was a Sunday! WOW! Robin, the technician, was excellent: efficient, professional and seemed very honest with his assessment. He said a will need 1 or both springs replaced sometime in the future, perhaps as long as 2 years away, what a nice surprise! I've been needing to have the bottom rubber seal replaced for several months but the price was higher than I expected or could afford. Robin called the company owner and was able to get the price reduced to make it more affordable for me and so I could have that completed while he was there rather than waiting. Stellar experience overall, and I will only be calling Precision Garage Door Service in the future for all of my garage door needs or emergencies. Highest recommendation!

I just bought a 10 year old home and the double garage door has been lifted that whole time by a 1/3 hp liftmaster. Everyone I spoke with said that was underpowered and the builder cut corners by installing such a small motor for such a big door. Therefore I decided to replace rather than repair. I called and made an appointment with a different garage door service, but my wife recommended I talk with Precision Door Service based on their website and because she wanted another estimate. The scheduler/salesperson who answered the phone said they could have a tech out to our house for free within the hour. I said we had to leave in 1.5 hrs for a swim lesson, but she maintained they were happy to come out anyway. Robin arrived within about 20min and discussed the merits of different openers. His advice was helpful and he helped us find a unit that fit our budget and had the features and warranty we wanted. We spent about $30 more than we budgeted, even though we had scheduled to have one installed the next day that did fit our budget, but we feel this unit is a better unit and we like the warranty. Robin completed the work in time for us to make the swim lesson. He left no trace that he had been there, except the new opener. He did a thorough inspection of all the working parts of the garage door, tracks etc. and he cleaned up the electrical wiring from the former installation. I followed up with Frank, the manager, to clarify the warranty and he was very helpful and responsive. We have a second garage door for a single bay and if that opener fails, we'll certainly call precision door service.
Description of Work: They installed a new garage door opener to replace one which had failed.

Called for service Tuesday after the door quit functioning on Monday a holiday and the helpful young lady on the phone scheduled an appointment for Wednesday afternoon. The field manager and technician arrived promptly at the appointment time and were courteous, professional and completely thorough. I appreciated their honesty on what we could and could not do and what was the best given the age of the opener and the door hardware. Given all they did on the complete door overhaul and saving me a few minutes programming two remotes -- I was pleased they finished up completely in about an hour and a half. They were kind enough to clean up the area when done as well. Thanks to Angie's List was able to use the coupon for $100 off the overhaul and a free service call (regularly $55). Would I liked to have paid less? Sure.....but given what else I've read I think they're prices are competitive and $155 off regular price...not bad at all. Considering they provide a lifetime guarantee on the hardware, I'd say it was worth it. Would definitely recommend to others and would use again, no question. These guys are pros.
Description of Work: Called for service after a mistake of mine left us with a non-functioning door...turns out our 17-year old (at least) door and hardware was wearing out. We went for the overhaul which replaced all rollers, spooling, springs and included lubing the entire opener and door and helped me out by programming two remotes and re-wiring the safety sensors.
