Drawers had been damaged by being pulled out and dropped onto the floor. On each, the face had broken from the particle board drawers. I took the drawer boxes to the showroom for repair, and picked them up a few days later. DKB rebuilt the drawers to match and fit, and attached glide components and the original drawer faces. The drawer boxes are now sturdier than ever and the faces sit plumb and level. DKB's service was professional, friendly and on-time.
Description of Work: DKB rebuilt 2 damaged drawer boxes.

While our experience with DKB started out a bit rocky, by the end of the process we were extremely happy with our selection. Our initial contact with DKB was when we were getting bids from several local cabinet shops on white shaker-style cabinets. We weren't sure whether we needed thermafoil v. painted wood, birch v. maple, etc., so the research process was pretty lengthy. Their sales rep/designer came out was new to the shop, so he didn't have a great base of knowledge on how their painted maple compared to other options, but I was fine to continue to research on my own. Their bid was competitive for the quality of product they sell (painted wood over thermafoil, true tongue-and-groove drawers, soft-closing, with some customization available), so we chose to move forward with them. It was difficult to work out the details at first (when we tried to tweak the recommended plan to reduce cost, it seemed the sales guy kept putting in other features that put us back to the original price)j. What was really frustrating, however, was when Dean, the owner, came out to do the final measure before ordering, the original length measurement the sales guy took was 33" short, meaning we would have to add another $400 base cabinet. We did, however, ask our sales rep to please explain the situation to Dean, who decided to split the difference and upgrade another feature for us. I should mention that this salesperson no longer works at DKB. The best part of the experience, however, is the finished product and the meticulous install job. Ryan, the installer, is a true craftsman who takes great pride in his work. The cabinets look amazing, and he inspected each door, piece of trim, etc. to ensure the highest quality standards were met. We decided to purchase additional moulding for the cabinets, and he helped us decide the best aesthetic look and creative solutions for installing new cabinets in our 1950s kitchen. Thanks, DKB. We love our new kitchen cabinets.
Description of Work: Sold us new cabinets and installed them.

Dean and his team at Distinctive Kitchen and Bath were nothing short of tremendous. We have two small children and a lot going on day to day. Having a kitchen with no running water and significant damage was going to be stressful and trying to figure out how to plan and execute repairs (and work with home owners insurance people) just added to the stress. Dean worked with my wife and I from day one and actually listened to our concerns and gave sage advice on the best plan. He and his team coordinated all of the steps from tear out- to finish cabinetry work! It was an impressive coordinated effort including the day that three guys showed up, exactly as planned, to remove a giant counter top only to show back up again three days later to put it all back together without damage (this was a large, delicate task). All of their teams were clean cut professionals who were polite, friendly and focused. His cabinet installer Ryan was on time, extremely kind and meticulous in his work. When he left, there wasn't so much as a spec of sawdust left behind! I joined Angie's list this morning to write this review. Dean and his team are delivering a level of customer service and skill that we have not seen in a long time. Smart, focused, polite, on time, honest and highly skilled. My wife and I programmed Distinct Kitchen and Bath into our phones because whenever we have remodeling work to be done- they are the only ones we are calling.
Description of Work: New kitchen cabinets installed after a slow leak in a copper pipe was discovered in the kitchen wall. The work required an industrial clean up crew (giant blowers and dryers), removal of wet and damaged cabinets, drywall etc. An electrician, drywaller, counter top pro, and cabinet builder were all required.

Had a horrific experience with these people. Initially they seemed anxious and willing to make a deal on a kitchen and bathroom cabinet, counter and tile remodel. I told them I was shopping price on a particular brand of cabinet and specific granite they told me hands down then would beat any price if I got it in writing. The REALITY IS Their 'apples to apples price match guarantee' that they are so proud of is a load of HOGWASH . Do not waste your time if your looking for the best prices, you wont find them here !!!! I furnished them with a WRITTEN ESTIMATE from another company including the design layout of MY KITCHEN that was $1500 cheaper.....their sales person took up loads of my time haggling with me and then finally told me they could match the prices on the ktichen cabinets (which I had the written estimate for) and beat the price on the granite. (they did come in around the same price that I had) In the end they REFUSED to match the quote using various excuses, one of which was that I had given them a worksheet (that was in format different from theirs) not a signed contract????? HUH? who goes around signing contracts on cabinets and then shopping price?? Furthermore, if they weren't going to honor the 'worksheet' they should have said so in the FIRST PLACE not waste days and days of my time!!!! On another note......I am also in the market for tile, they sent a 'tile salesman' over to my house and when I told him I was being cost conscious he couldn't leave fast enough! Bolted out the door like I was Satan himself! I suggest these folks get a Scottsdale storefront if they want to charge premium FOO FOO prices, not Cavecreek Rd. in Phoenix. Times are tough these days yet they turned away an $11,000 ++job! Apparently they dont need the business!

Response from Distinctive Kitchen & Bath
To set the record straight, we were willing to price match if Member would have provided us with the design and written bid as our Apples to Apples guarantee rquires. Although Member did provide us with a cabinet list that had some hand written figures on it, it was not a written bid. She was also not willing to provide us with a design. She kept insisting that the cabinet list WAS a proposal from the company we were bidding against, even though it lacked any of the usual information that is typical of bids. As a matter of fact, we use the same computer program that produces the same lists. We use that list as a tool in our bidding process, We do not generally provide those lists to our customers as some of the codes are not always easy to understand unless you are used to using them. Just to make sure I was not treating her unfairly, I took the time to contact the manager of that company and he informed me that their proposals were written on a form they generate in house. It contains the customer's information, products being bid and the value of the project, complete with taxes and installation costs, as required. Their proposals also have their company's information and the name of the sales person that put the proposal together. Our proposals also contain much of the same information. That is the only way to professionally do business. Additionally, we never asked her to provide a CONTRACT, only a bid. It would be pointless for us to try and sell her something she already had contracted to purchase. It also needs to be noted we don't feel we wasted any of her time. We even went to her home, took measurements and put a design together for her free of charge. We also spent several hours going over the designs with her and making the changes that she requested. Since she brought up "wasting time" it also needs to be noted that our tile salesman went to Member's home to bid her tile work only to find that work was already in progress. When he inquired about that, her statement was something to the effect that she has"some guy working out of the back of his truck" doing the work. Our tile salesman noted that the quality of work looked good and recommended that she should have him finish the project. He also let her know that he could not compete on that level. From the beginning, Member did inform us that she was price shopping, as most people do on a project of this size. We usually recommend that it is a good idea to get at least one other bid. When we presented her with our bid, she informed us that she had another bid. That is when we offered her an opportunity to qualify for our price match guarantee. Again, she could not provide us with any designs or written bids. I am not surprised with Member's comments and review, considering she had less than stellar comments for some the othe other contractors that have been involved with her and her project. Usually when we hear comments like that it raises a red flag and we are prone to be more cautious in how we deal with that customer's project. In the end, we never sold her any product, nor did we do any contracted work for her. We were simply providing her a price for what she told us she wanted; as it is her right to collect bids etc. as she did. It is also my right as a business owner to refuse service to anyone, especially to customers who are rude, verbally combative and insulting to me and my staff. I wish Member and the Contractors who work with her the best of luck with her project.

MY NEW HOME OFFICE IS BEAUTIFUL AND WORKING WITH RYAN WAS A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. WE HAD GOOD COMMUNICATION, AND HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, AND ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE PROJECT. I WAS IN THE STORE SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE STAFF IS ALSO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I HAD OBTAINED OTHER BIDS BEFORE CONTRACTING WITH DKB AND BELIEVE I GOT QUALITY MATERIAL AND WORK FOR A VERY GOOD PRICE. I RECOMMEND DKB, AND I HAVE EXACTLY WHAT I WANT IN MY NEW HOME OFFICE. THIS WAS A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE.
