. Don was very easy to work with and helped guide me with tile selection. The crew was very tidy, cleaning up each day before they left, always polite and professional. I would definetly recommend Cactus Valley Homes and I would use them again in the future. Pricing was very fair, and I felt confident that Don knew what he was doing. Our shower looks great and now we are not bumping into the wall every time we are in the shower. I have two nice bench seats, and love the rain shower head and the additional handheld showerhead. The built in cabinet and wood frame around the mirror match our existing cabinetry perfectly.

Don and his crews were always very punctual, professional as well as very friendly. Our main concerns were quality work and complete the project on-time. We are fully satisfied with their work. Don sent us places to select the granite, bathroom tiles, cabinets and other materials and they had good quality products and plenty of options to choose from. Don made sure the material and installation were perfect. They even worked on weekends when needed to meet the timeline. We first contact the company in September 2015 and asked him to finish by end of the year. The work was completed on-time even though it was holiday season. Don also gave us tips on how to maintain the new materials. We highly recommend Don and his crews.

We were extremely pleased with the work done by Cactus Valley. We'd highly recommend Don and his crew and would not hesitate to use them again. Don adhered to the budget and the schedule. His subcontractors were professional and hard working. They were very careful of our home and always cleaned up when they were finished. Dust and dirt were kept to a minimum. Don understood our vision of the addition. He was always easy to reach and quick to return phone calls. He checked often on the progress of the project. He was extremely accommodating and a pleasure to work with.

Excellent!! Don enclosed my patio so that I have a lovely additional room. He removed the existing patio door and replaced it with French doors. Large windows and a patio door were installed around my existing covered patio. Fans, lighting, and air conditioner were installed. The finished look is superb! I am very pleased with the overall cost of this remodel. All of Don's employees and sub-contractors were very professional and did a great job, and they were able to finish a week ahead of schedule! My home is over 20 years old and I will use Cactus Valley for future remodels. I would highly recommend Don for home remodel projects.

This was a major project for our home. The general contractor handled every detail for us to a tee! He was on the job overseeing and working on all phases of this project. His crew was professional, experienced, punctual and delivered high quality work. The project was completed in the orginal time frame agreed upon during the quote. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall process and the outcome exceeded our expectations. We have a beautiful patio cover which we will enjoy for many years and our fresh coat of paint on the house has brought life back to our 40 year old house. I really can't say enough about this company and the owner. I would definitely use them again in a heartbeat for our next home project.

My Wife and I had huge improvement plans for the exterior of our house and a moderate budget to work with, so we felt it would be more efficient to look at getting a general contractor to do the work (versus trying to manage various specific tradesmen ourselves, which we have no experience doing). The projects we had planned included tear down and removal of our old patio cover, replacing original windows with double pane energy efficient ones, some electrical work, minor stucco work, and exterior painting. We found several General Contractors on Angie?s List and chose to get bids only from those that were ?Super Service Award? recipients. Don Burns (Cactus Valley Homes) came to us with an honest, down-to-earth attitude and good old-fashioned work ethic. We were impressed with Don?s willingness to come by the house several times as we planned out the details of the project. Our budget was a driving factor. Don was very sensitive to this and worked hard to keep everything within the limits we established. Other contractors that we had spoken to were unwilling to do this. Our remodel work was going to involve four distinct phases, some of which would run concurrently on site with other projects (i.e. a complete redo of 30+ year old landscaping), so coordination and timing were critical. Don graciously came up with a breakout price for each phase of his part of our overall house update project, as well as a timeline to expect for work to be completed. The start date would be determined by the delivery of the windows from the manufacturer, but Don was clear with us and communicated that. The windows arrived slightly ahead of schedule (which was not a problem with us). Don and his crew performed all the demo work on our old patio cover. His attention to detail showed as he inspected and reconfirmed the measurements of each window on the order (ten total) prior to beginning removal & install. The windows were high quality Milgard brand. The install was very methodical, as Don was careful to protect each window space one-at-a-time on the interior with plastic to keep the interior mess on our home to a very minimum. We also chose to have one old window space modified to become a patio sliding door. Don again handled this with detail and craftsmanship. He is a pro. No question. The stucco work came next. Don subcontracted this but still remained on-site for a good portion of the work to assure that it was being completed correctly. The drying time for the stucco also allowed us the ?work window? we needed to have our landscape work installed. Finally, the last phase arrived and it was time to paint. We live in an HOA community, so paint colors and brand were governed by the architectural committee. Again, Don worked closely with us as he coordinated the painting subcontractor. We all walked the site together and communication was the key as we established the trim and accent color details. The painting crew was very efficient and considerate of all of the new landscaping that was just put in. They worked very effectively while at the same time avoiding the fragile new plants. Again, Don was present throughout the day to observe the work and communicate with his subcontractor. As the job concluded, Don finished up minor detail work himself (reinstalling porchlights, adjusting outlet covers, etc.). Every day, throughout the entire project, the property was left clean. We were very happy with the work Don completed for us. The project came in on-time and on-budget. We were always able to communicate him either via voice/text or email. As future projects arise (we will be updating several bathrooms and a kitchen in the future) Don at Cactus Valley Homes will be our first choice to do business with again. We feel that a relationship has been established along with trust. That says a lot about Don.

We asked Don to remove all the outdated, standard tract home features of this home & replace them with what we would've chosen had we built a custom home, and he delivered! In addition to repairing some large drywall cracks, Don and his team removed every bit of ugly tile & & carpet, every brass light fixture/door hinge & hardware, all the old bathroom fixtures, tubs & toilets, and replace those things with items of our choosing. He did a beautiful job on all the tile, made a great suggestion for the stair risers on the spiral staircase, reconfigured & remodeled the master bathroom to have a walk in shower, remodeled the other two bathrooms, added a stone wall and wood mantel to make the existing fireplace a focal point, painted the kitchen cabinets and stair bannister to get rid of the oak look, added a kitchen backsplash, replaced appliances with stainless steel, added recessed lighting throughout the house and upgraded the lighting that was there to LED. And a nice surprise for me was the outstanding job Don's cleaning crew did once construction was complete, allowing us to move right in without even having to mop or dust first. We couldn't be more pleased with Don's work, and the way the house turned out. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again for another project.

This was my first experience with a large remodeling project and I picked the right contractor!! Don Burns is a professional. He is honest, detail oriented, timely, conscientious of budget, experienced, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. I would absolutely hire him again and plan to for future projects! Don responded quickly to my call after I had read his reviews on Angie's List. We met for an initial appointment to discuss the scope of the project. He then scheduled a follow up appointment where he brought in a few of his sub-contractors to "walk" the project and discuss project details. After choosing Don and signing my contract he went straight to work. He kept me on task with making important decisions such as cabinetry, windows, granite, plumbing fixtures, appliances in a timely manner so that the project would proceed on his projected timeline. At every step Don communicated well with me, asking questions appropriately, offering suggestions, always conscientious of my budget. He responded to me quickly and efficiently when I have questions or concerns. Don was extremely knowledgeable. If he encountered a problem, he has a solution to fix it. He is a craftsman. Don did much of the work himself. He held his subcontractors accountable. He even put up (and handled well) my difficult HOA and nosy neighbor!! I can't thank Don enough for turning my "Frat-house-rat-infested-former-Rental" (new purchase to me) into an absolutely New Beautiful home for me and my children. It is gorgeous! He transformed it from a dumpy run down property into a beautiful new home. I feel so grateful that I hired the right contractor and would recommend Don to anyone!

We had a plumbing disaster in August 2014, due to the collapse of a cast-iron pipe that ran almost the whole length of the slab under our 46-year-old house. It spanned from where our washer & dryer were in the garage on into the house & went right through our dining/ family room, kitchen & all the way to our bathrooms. After an extensive remediation process (involving removal of asbestos found in our popcorn ceilings, within our walls & in all the linoleum flooring) Don Burns & his crew then beautifully remodeled our whole house. They replaced our plumbing system, including new pipe in slab & Pex-piping throughout house, remodeled our kitchen, bathrooms and dining/ family room, including creating a window where our old kitchen?s back door used to be, re-sizing our bathrooms in order to enlarge master bathroom, and adding a gas line for a new oven, installed water softener & reverse osmosis systems, replaced our old carpeting & linoleum with porcelain tile throughout, updated & improved all lighting & air circulation throughout house by installing recessed lighting & ceiling fans, replaced an old sliding door with beautiful French doors, installed double-paned energy-efficient windows throughout house, repainted the entire inside of house and garage, installed a beautifully matching gutter along the front to remedy a rain intrusion issue we were having at our front door, and also took care of numerous other details. As of today's date we're about 95% completed & have just a few items left that haven't come in yet, but otherwise we're almost done. Our house feels brand new & we couldn?t be more pleased with the results! Don & his entire crew were very pleasant & personable throughout the entire process & didn?t mind us being underfoot & asking lots of questions; in fact, they welcomed us in every time we stopped by. Don was very helpful throughout the renovation & gave lots of great advice & helpful tips. He also strived to help us stay within our budget & worked diligently with our insurance company regarding the remediation process that resulted in our ?loss of use? claim. Thanks to his help that portion of our renovation cost was covered by our insurance. We definitely recommend Don Burns & his company to anyone who needs extensive repairs & remodeling, especially kitchens & bathrooms!

Was great working with Don on our project. He was very professional from the initial meeting until the job was completed. He was extremely competitive with his quote for our project as well. Even though we had some delay with permitting from the city he was still able to complete our project on time and on budget. What we asked for is we wanted the bedroom to look as if we bought the house from the builder that was and that was exactly what Don delivered. We couldn't be happier with the finished product and do not hesitate to recommend him.

Mr. Burns was very professional throughout the entire process. He was very easy to communicate with and reach when we had any issues. We had major problems getting the large french door we ordered and the job was significantly delayed. This was not due to the fault of the contractor, just the door manufacturer. Throughout the delay we had frequent updates as to where things were and what we could expect. We had three companies quote us on this job and Mr Burns was very competitive in pricing. The workmanship was very good and we are very happy with the end result. We would highly recommend this company.

After discussing the work with several different contractors that wouldn't seriously and properly address the mold issue I located Don Burns of Cactus Valley Remodeling on Angie's list. His previous positive evaluations prompted me to contact him. Don came and reviewed the work to be done and provided me with an estimate for the repairs. When we signed the contract Don begin work on the promised date. Shortly after the work started we found asbestos in the drywall. Don and his mitigation contractor assisted me by meeting with the insurance adjustor so that we could secure additional compensation. Don utilized a mold and asbestos remediation subcontractor, a granite counter top subcontractor, a electrical subcontractor and worked with a cabinet maker that we had previously contacted. All of his subcontractors were punctual, clean, efficient and did good work. Don and his crew installed the cabinets and back splash. Don completed the work for the price that was stated in the contract, on time. We had his electrical contractor do some additional work which was fairly priced and promptly completed. Don also assisted me with the paperwork necessary to satisfy the insurance and mortgage companies. I will be happy to utilize Cactus Valley Remodeling's services again and would recommend Don and his crew.

They were professional. I think they were pretty much close to the other quotes within a hundred dollars. We just didn't end up doing the work.

We were impressed when we first met Don Burns. He was very personable and had some great design ideas. We remodeled all but the 3 bedrooms in our home. We put new tile throughout, tore out a wall and a ceiling, new counter tops and much, much more.This was a very stressful time as we (my wife, stepdaughter and I and 3 dogs and 2 cats) were living in the home through this ordeal. Don did his best to work around us and not displace us from the home more than he had to. Don did a magnificent job. With the care he gave you would have thought he was working on his own home. It was the little touches that he did because he thought it would look better that way. Our home looks beautiful and my wife is thrilled with the results. The job was done on time and to budget. Don did an excellent job on our project. He is a skilled craftsman. He sets high standards for himself as well as for his sub-contractors. The work was done on schedule, whether it was Don himself or his sub-contractors. He found areas on the drawings that were not consistent to what had been previously built, in this case framing, and made the changes. His work passed every inspection with not changes required. Don was responsive to my questions, during the project as well as the changes I made. The price for the changes was fair. The job site was cleaned up every day. We are very pleased with Don?s work and our garage extension.

They responded and asked me to describe the job. I did but never heard back from them. A courtesy response that they were not interested would have been enough. Update: After posting this review, they contacted me and said their Angie's List account was having problems. I appreciate the follow up even if it came a little late.

Don Burns and Cactus Valley Remodeling completed a major remodel of our kitchen, family room, AZ room, study, hall bathroom and master bedroom. He also build a new addition for the master bathroom & closet. Don worked well with our MN based designer. Before bids were due Don brought his four main subcontractors (Plumbing, electrical, HVAC & cabinetmaker) to our 40 year old house to review the work. We received several great ideas that were incorporated into the project. Our project included new flooring in all rooms, upgrading plumbing and Electrical to code, new archway into AZ room, moving air handling to attic, expanding kitchen and adding island and new windows. Our project was completed on time -10 weeks. We were kept well informed in MN with daily reports on work completed and people on site as well as weekly pictures of progress. We are very pleased with the final results and received good value for the cost. We would highly recommend Don for any remodel / repair work and would definitely use him again. He was particularly great to work with by long distance and we were very comfortable turning our home over to him while being in MN.

Don Burns is truly a remodeling professional. We called Cactus Valley Remodeling, along with several other contractors, to give us estimates on our remodeling projects. He was personally available to quickly give us a very fair quote. We chose Don because of his professionalism, price and his ability to do all of the the work himself. He provided us with formal, written quotes and, I'm happy to say, the costs did not exceed these quotes. We initially planned to redo the master shower and install wood-look ceramic tile planks in the 3 bedrooms. We ended up expanding the project to include new master and guest bathroom vanities and gutting the entire kitchen. Don was there every step of the way. He gave us design advice as we chose the materials and planned the kitchen. From there, he and his crew handled everything...plumbing, glass shower surround, granite counter tops, cabinetry, drywall repair, painting, fixtures and tiled the shower, backsplash, flooring and baseboards. Everything he touched turned out beautifully! Our happiness was Don's top priority. He was always available to answer our questions and checked in frequently to ensure that we were pleased with the progress. The finished product is perfect, however, the best part about working with Don is that he is completely trustworthy. It means the world to us that we could have total peace-of-mind when we were away and he was working in our home. It's great to work with one contractor that can do every aspect of a remodel as we never had to worry about giving access to our home to different crews of people. He constantly went the extra mile, working with our busy schedules and accommodating our 2 big dogs throughout the process. Don is a pleasure to work with. He is a true, honest professional.

Don brilliantly captured our requirements in a unique structural design that matched the other structures in our backyard. The pool cabana was completed on time, and in partnership with another contractor who was redesigning and surfacing our pool deck. Don helped to coordinate both projects, acting in a superintendent role to ensure we were pleased with the result of both projects. Our new cabana is gorgeous and the new feature of our backyard.
