I hired this company to come out and diagnose why my house was not cooling. The tech indicated that I only had a 3-ton unit and I needed a 5-ton. I was livid as my last AC company said they sold me a 5-ton unit. The next day a "field supervisor" or sales person tried to sell me a 5-ton unit. I decided to get some quotes and went with another company due to the fact that AC by J was almost twice as much. After lining up the install and getting ready to install the new unit the guy asked why I was replacing the unit. I told him it was a 3-ton and I needed a 5-ton. He sort of laughed and said, "you've got a 5-ton". I then had to pay hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees because AC by J mislead me just so they could try to upsell me a unit that I did not need.

They told me I had a leak and a part had to be replaced. I had a home warranty with a different company that verified that there was no leak and the unit is working fine.

Investigation and determination of the problem, and subsequent repairs all went great. Crew was professional, courteous, capable and careful of the work area. We are VERY pleased, and will certainly hire AC by J again for plumbing, heating or cooling needs. Thank you very much. AC by J ? Simply amazing at every aspect! I had 2 AC units about 20 years old. One kept leaking and being patched, even though the coil was just replaced a year ago under a home warranty. Our upstairs AC kept running, and was taking a long time to cool things down. We called another company out prior, they charged us to put Freon in and left. Days later, the upstairs AC started getting warm again. This time I called AC by J as my parents used them to recently replace their AC unit and were very satisfied with them. I called in and was amazed to have Julie answer the phone who actually sounded concerned about the issue, was extremely friendly and willing to help. (Unlike other offices that have some who seems annoyed you?re calling and just wants your info real quick to relay to someone). The same night I called they got someone out. Rafael arrived, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He gave me the options of fixing the AC without just trying to hard sell me on a unit. He isn?t commissioned based which is great. With the possible issues and with how old the AC unit was, we decided it may be a better option to replace. The same night, they were able to get their sales rep Jon out to our house. I really dislike sales people with the salesly and the ?buy now or forget it? attitude. Luckily for us, Jon was great to work with. He was extremely knowledgeable from the tech side, did a thorough load calculation, identified existing issues they could fix, and gave us an excellent price to replace both units. We didn?t feel pressured, and was glad he could answer all our questions. Within days they had their crew come out and replace both units. Their team was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They did a quality job on every aspect of the installation. After they were finished, Derrick was stupendous at answering a detailed list of questions we had. He provided part numbers I wanted for each part of the unit, calibrated my z-wave thermostats, and explained the plethora of existing issues they fixed that was just plain shotty work from the initial installers. It was a breath of fresh air to not have to supervise and point out every issue, but to have someone come in and go above and beyond right from the start. Their team was excellent as explaining things, documenting everything for us, had amazing customer service, great prices and quality work. Doing my online research, the consensus was about the importance of the company installing the AC, and not just the manufacturer brand of the AC. You may save a minimal amount of money up front elsewhere, but get slow response times and bad service later on. AC by J has 24-7 support, amazing response times, technicians that are tested before they are hired, and this all leads to an AC unit that will last a lot longer. My wife and I are hard people to please, and AC by J really did exceed our expectations and not got annoyed with all the questions we asked. We would recommend them to anyone looking for the AC repair work or a new unit.

I had called to do an inspection of my 30 gallon (shorty) water heater as I was getting new tenants in that next week. The service guy went up and checked the water heater and stated it needed to be replaced as it was rusting out at the bottom. I had a feeling due to the age this may be the situation but wanted to get a professional opinion. He said he would go get some quotes and get back to me. So about 20-30 minutes later he comes back and tells me something along the line of "well these short 30 gallon tanks are an "odd" size and really arent made in quantity or were rare to come by. But I was in luck as his warehouse down in Mesa had one and his manager said he could use it for the job. The cost would be approximately $1397.00 to get it and install it for me." He seemed happy to find one so quick. I was a little confused as I had a water heater replaced by another company years ago in my house (maybe 50 gallon) and it was nowhere close to 1400 dollars. I expressed this and again he stated that the larger sizes are easy and cheaper to buy unfortunately. I walked inside the house and went on my phone and did a search for the size and type of water heater I needed and multiple stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, etc.) came up with prices ranging from 299.00 to maybe 500.00 at most. I then told the guy that I would not need their service as he didnt do any work at all. He left so I was fine. Then all of a sudden (about 30 minutes later) he came back and stated he had to charge me the full amount for the "tune up" - I argued and he stated his company made him come back to charge me for it. I dont hold him responsible in any way but I would NEVER do business with a company charging me for a full priced item for a "tune up" but no services were even performed. I would have been willing to maybe pay a smaller trip charge but no where was this discussed. Overall disappointed with that and also seems like they are way over charging for simple things that people can buy at a local store (not rare or hard to find).

The first time they did not read what I had requested as far as what time I needed them scheduled out. The second time they also showed up early. Once they got in he figured out there was an issue with the thermostat. The repaired the issue and inspected the AC. The technicians did a great job. My tenants seemed happy with the outcome of the service. The AC bill went way down afterwards, as well. There was an additional fee to install the new thermostat.

Exactly 24 hours after the inspections, one unit quit working. They came out promptly with a different, equally polite service attendant who spent two hours on the roof and returned to say the unit needed $1,400 in repairs. He said the other attendant probably missed it because the temperature wasn't as hot as the day before. Then he tried to up-sell us on two new units.

They are very responsive when you call. They are pretty good if you need to change the appointment. The guys are very knowledgeable and very polite. I checked out with my service provider and they recommended me to these people. It was a good recommendation.

They provided excellent service and I was happy with them. They did everything up to par and I have not had any issues since the service was provided.

I did not use this service. The service sales person was very professional, knowledgeable and shared insight on how to best upgrade my builder grade set up. His price quote was competitive, but not the least expensive. Base on my experince of discussing my AC options, I would recommend folks at least entertain a bid from this company.

They charged me extra. They made it as if I had a contract with them and showed up and looked at the AC but I already had another provider, so I wasted my money. They said they were going to be there next week and I didn’t know that was them, I thought they were the one I had contract with for my AC, so when they showed up, I had to pay them for inspecting the AC.

We purchased a vacation property recently and wanted to be able to control the temperature remotely. I tried on my own but the wiring at the unit was older and I wasn't comfortable running a continuous feed without a multi meter. I called AC by J and was immediately helped by the person answering the phone. They had time that day to come by. I was concerned about cost, they were quick to let me know the cost would be $89 to install and would let me know if there were any reasons they couldn't honour the price. They also mentioned that they would call 30 minutes prior to coming. I received the call and Jorge (George) arrived promptly at 3pm. He walked me through what needed to be done and explained the wiring set up for my own knowledge. He was courteous and thorough. He tested all aspects and ensured that there were no outstanding questions. I was very pleased with the service and his time and expertise. I would have no issues in using them in the future nor referring them to others. I found that they were responsive and professional and I did not feel pressured.

This is the second time I have used them and they always have the same line "you need all new equipment". Last time I took their word and replace the unit. This time I got a second opinion and of course my concern was validated when I found out I needed to spend $1400 to fix the units and they where fine. On a different unit they went out there 5 times and never fix the system. When I called a certified HVAC repair company the manufacture recommended, they fixed it in the first trip. Be careful with these guys.

They are really excellent. I use them for 4 different properties. I would highly recommend them. They always provide great service. I have never had a problem with them, and they are one of the better companies in the valley.

If you would have asked for my review on Sunday, I would have a different tune. I called on a Sunday since I fried my thermostat thinking I could install it in the heat of the Phoenix summer, not the best idea. They called me back within an hour and had someone on by 3pm. Unfortunately, the thermostat I asked to be reinstalled was but the a/c still didn't work. I called and the same person came back out Sunday night, he was able to get the a/c running, while not perfect, at least some cold air was coming in. I was a bit confused since I paid to have a thermostat installed, I still didn't have one. The next morning I called and informed them I was picking up a new thermostat, someone was at my house by 5pm which was perfect since I scheduled it for after 3pm and when he got there opened the box and realized the thermostat I thought was new, was actually used and broken. He had other calls and couldn't wait for me to go back to the store to exchange it. I inquired about thermostats they sell but for the cost, he said it may be best to just exchange the one I have. So that is Monday, since Sunday the a/c barely worked. I exchanged the thermostat and called again Tuesday morning. They sent someone out who was there by 4pm, again, right on schedule. He installed the new thermostat, waited to ensure it worked, was pleasant, and quick. They came back to my house 3 times to finalize the work. There were no additional charges, they were punctual and friendly. I was extremely impressed when this whole situation was resolved. Initially I was the one who screwed things up but they were able to fix it and work around the used thermostat as well. This company was a pleasure to work with and I will absolutely recommend them.

This company is fantastic. I called when my AC went out in September and the highs were in the 100's. They came out within hours to check it out. They got it to start working but warned that it probably only had a month or so left before it went out for good. Turned out they right. About three weeks later it went out again. I called around and had a couple company's come out to give me an estimate on a whole new system. Ac by Jay came out the same day when I said that my air was off completely. A very professional and friendly man came out and explained everything to my Husband and myself. He showed us the price sheet of every system that they offer and explained the process. We went with AC by Jay because they seemed to be the most honest and the warranty and service that you get for years to come can't be beat. It is a year later now and we are still so happy with our purchase. Ac by Jay has been out several times to check on the unit and replace the filter. The only thing we pay for is the filter. Two service calls a year, which is all you really need, don't cost us a penny. They put together a fantastic deal that includes service calls for years to come. They are very clean and if you do have any kind of problem during the install just tell them and they will fix it. It is great to know that you are not only getting a great deal and peace of mind but supporting a company that truly knows the meaning of customer service and standing behind their word. Highly recommend!

I'm very satisfied with them. They're very professional. They put little slippers on their shoes, which I appreciate, when they come in the house. They're efficient and very polite. They're very knowledgeable and helpful with tips and any questions that I have. Since I've been with them and been satisfied with price, I haven't compared prices anywhere else. The office is very good and they're out here on time and in the window they've scheduled. They're very responsive.

Person arrived late, did not do any load analysis or "manual J" calculation, did not inspect ductwork in attic for leaks and/or other problems. Quote for lesser known brand/system ended up being significantly higher than what I ended up paying for my new, higher SEER rated Trane unit.

Excellent experience. We also had a recommendation for this provider from a relative who lives here and uses AC by J ... Jorge arrived promptly, was courteous, knowledgeable and explained everything he did and showed us pictures he took on his cell phone of the parts in the heat pump that needed to be replaced before they completely failed and probably caused the system to experience very serious damage or worse. We received a detailed report on the receipt explaining everything that he found, corrected and suggested. We also purchased the routine maintenance package that provides 2 maintenance service calls a year. We will always use this company for our HVAC ... without a doubt!
