The owner, Ryan did not contact me so I made the first step to contact the company. The workman were on time and performed very professionally. They had the four lights installed without any major problems considering the age of our house. They communicated to me what they thought would be the best layout and what they where doing, from time to time. My installers were Dan and Alex. They cleaned as they went and did a through cleaning when the work was completed. I felt lucky to have these two men.

I should've known better after having such a hard time with the owner returning calls just to get an estimate. Instead of coming out to the house, he just did it over the phone. One of the workers showed up a half hour early without calling. Luckily I had just gotten home and it was nice to know the job would've been completed earlier. I was told they'd have to cut some holes in the wall to install the wiring for the switches which I was alright with. When the job was completed, there I found many of the recessed lights rings were not flush with the ceiling, the pendant plates are not flush with the ceiling and they had hit a stud when drilling a hole for one of the recessed cans and had to cut another hole right next to it. I was never told about it, but saw it when one of them had stepped out for a few minutes. The owner claimed that he would not be responsible for any issues related to drywall or else they would not agree to the job. In the 7 years I've been in the construction business, if we ever made a mistake that was our fault, we would fix it. This guy put it on the homeowner. Had I known this I would've gone with a reputable electrician.

I'm so sorry that you felt we made these mistakes. Let me take a minute to address your issues. First, we do hundreds of recessed can jobs a year. Performing an on-site estimate for every simple can job is impossible. We ask very detailed questions that tell us what we need to know about your house before giving the customer a price. This has worked wonderfully for us and our customers for years. In that same initial phone call we always explain that there may need to be drywall damage in either the ceiling or the wall when adding the switches and cans. We make it clear we are not drywallers and that you wouldn't want us to patch your holes. In our conversation you stated that was not a problem and that you had a painter coming after the install to do any patches needed. As for the early time- Its good to know our techs our early and on time! I know we hear about how late others are in the industry. Unfortunately our tech did make the mistake when reminding you about the drywall damage that could occur during the job he didn't point to the ceiling where he would be installing the can lights. We made sure to remind all of our electricians here how important it is to reiterate with the client and make that very clear before starting. As for the un-flush cans, we absolutely want to ensure that our work is done proper, this was something you didn't mention after the appointment or later when contacting us by email but we would of course would have been happy to fix.

It was a genuine pleasure to have Rio in my home to install recessed lighting. Ryan has been doing electrical work in the valley his entire adult life. He runs a professional crew and there's an honest businessman. He treats your house like it's his own. He is clearly invested in this community and can be trusted to provide the highest quality in electrical service.

There were a couple of roadblocks because we were going to change over to LED lights and new canister installation, because the silicone holding the current canisters in place was not done well, so Ryan recommended trying to go with the LED lights & leaving current canisters, which will save us a great deal on our electrical bill. Ryan and his team worked efficiently and were very professional, always looking out for the customer first, including trying to come up with the most cost effective way to solve the problem. Also the granite installers had not used the proper screws and a wire had come disconnected during the installation which was picked up by Ryan on the second visit, who corrected the problem for no charge. We were very impressed with his work and his ability to trouble shoot problems. I would highly recommend him and his team.

Rio Electric was absolutely fantastic. Ryan was very responsive and came out the next day for a very reasonable quote on a variety of electrical work we wanted done. I had 2 other companies quote the job, and Rio was by far the most cost effective. I also really liked the owner, Ryan, who pointed out many suggestions to help minimize my overall cost. Today, Dan and Mike (a father/son team) come out. They were punctual and professional. Dan spent a lot of time finding the best placement for optimal lighting for my recessed lights. They also installed an outdoor outlet and moved a j-box so my chandelier is now centered beautifully over my dining room table. This is a small company that takes PRIDE in their work. They do have a busy schedule because they are that good. I had to wait a few weeks to have the work completed, but they are well worth it. Good guys, great price, excellent communication, and above all they were very professional. I love my new lighting, and I will definitely call them again when I am ready for my outdoor lights!

We bought the Big Deal. We asked ahead of time if everything could be done in the 8 hr. deal. They came on time, did the work, and cleaned up after themselves. Everything was done that we requested. They finished a little early, so they didn't charge us for the parts they supplied. That was a very nice surprise.
Description of Work: They installed a dedicated line to our refrigerator, put a light and switch in our attic, put a outlet in our back porch, and wired our shop light to the garage lights.

I bought a big deal for $399 for an electrician for a day. When Ryan called me, he told me he would send 2 people for 4 hours. That was fine with me, as long as I got the 8 hours I paid for and because the big deal was so popular, I ended up having to schedule my appointment 4 weeks out as that was the first Friday available. He told me he would call to confirm a day or two before. I realized on the scheduled morning that I had not heard from them and wondered if I still had my appointment. I tried calling but the answering machine said they didn't open until 9am. I have 3 items I needed done - install 8 drops and power so I could move my internet modem and router to my closet in another room, install 2 pendants and help track down a GFCI circuit that I could not locate. So in the middle of a conference call at 8:30am, my doorbell rang and I had to have them wait until I finished my call all the while burning my time. We walked the job and 2 things stuck out that I kept hearing - 1) This job is bigger than we were told and 2) The couple of things I told him I wanted done (I had a bunch more on my list we never got to) that there is a possibility of damage. I heard that no less than 3 or 4 times and started to wonder if I had hired the wrong company. After we walked the job and prioritized the work, he told me he didn't have a couple of things he needed for the job because they were taken off the truck and not returned and he would have to go to home depot. He would get the job far enough so the 2nd person could keep going, I would have been fine with this but when the 4 hours were up, he informed me we were into overtime (not subtracting his time away from the job). The 8 drops (6 were in the same wall cavity and 2 were directly below where everything else was being brought to) and the 4plex was done in 5 hours. I didn't think my house was that special because of the cathedral ceilings and they ran a new circuit on the outside of my house to get around the area where they didn't have good access. My biggest problem was that no one every came out to look at the work, so they were unprepared for the "scope" of it (which I didn't think was that difficult). It would have been good to be aware of how long all of my work might take. Another issue was the time away from the job was no credited to me, it's not my fault the lacked a coax crimper and a number book for cable drops (not uncommon tools or items for electricians to have). Also, the parts ended up being $233 for a new 4-plex plug, box and cover, romex from the new plug to the circuit box, coax to the drop from the side of the house, a breaker and a conduit that ran maybe 50 feet on the outside of my house. Also, 4 low power boxes (really plastic rings over the drywall). All in all, I calculated about $100 in parts (overestimating) but got charged $233 and $125 for the extra hour of labor. I supplied my own Cat5e cabling and they even tried to charge me for it. When I said I was not paying for it, they took it off. In the end, the drops and power are in but I still cannot move my modem because it needs a phone connection which they did not realize or understand needed to be moved with the coax to the box. So I have wires (I agreed to punch down the ends because I had the tools) that I cannot use until I hire someone else move the telephone drop. I even have to open up the Cox cable box and connect the new coax myself as well. My advice is to make sure they estimate the work and understand what the parts might cost you (I asked if I could provide the CAT5e and was told yes but never told I could provide all the parts). What I thought was going to cost $400, cost me almost double that.
Description of Work: I had 8 network drops, new coax and a four-plex electrical outlet installed in my closet for my networking equipment.

It was a lot of work to be done in 4 hours with 2 guys and they just about did it. All but one bathroom for GFI was completed. Dan and his associate were punctual. I walked them through items that needed to be done, Dan explained what could work and not work. They started immediately. I'm very happy with the storage area which had 2 switches across the room (which I had to walk in the dark to reach), now the switch is right by the door. Plus, Dan found an issue that was illegal and could have potentially caused a fire and he fixed it. The attic fan works beautifully. Other than not having the time to get to the last bathroom to install GFI, I'm very pleased with the work done overall.
Description of Work: I have an older house and needed to track down why an outlet wasn't working for my attic fan. Plus, needed work done in my storage room and GFCI's installed.

Prior to the work done, I was in contact with the owner, Ryan, and explained the type of work I needed done. He was very informative and answered all my questions. He also suggested what I could do prior to the service date to ensure that everything went smoothly. The employees, Dan and Beto, were professional and very punctual. They took every precaution to ensure that there was no damage to my house and explained what they were going to do before performing the job so I could understand what was required. I appreciated that before installing a wall outlet (outside), Dan advised me that any parts would be an extra expense and not part of the service package I purchased. Therefore, I was not unpleasantly surprised with any hidden costs. I definitely recommend Rio Electric's services.

The crew of two showed up in the time frame given. They were very professional and knowledgeable and communicated with me on a number of things. There was only one area where I had to sparkle the wall afterward; otherwise they did a clean job. They cleaned up afterward, but I will say I found a number of screws and other things after they left and some insulation from the attic in my closet. Not a huge problem, just an observation. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Looked at some issues I was having with flickering lights and changed some breakers; installed two outdoor fans and an outdoor outlet; installed an additional outlet in the master bathroom. Discussed options for better lighting in the kitchen.

Thank you so much first of all for the work. We are sorry that it was not communicated well about that labor deal only covering the physical labor and not the material. We will do better in the future to convey the cost of materials that will be charged after the labor is completed. Ryan Rio Electric
