concrete repair

The crack was about eight feet in length and two feet in width. Then they did an epoxy coating covering the entire patio. Their cleanup was good. The issue with them was that they took too long to do the job. It was unsatisfactory in my regard. There were delays for them to get to my job. They told me that they had some issues and had to let go some of their crew when I complained. So they couldn’t complete the job on schedule.

Response from JMI Concrete
Since my company is 100% family owned and operated our customers and the satisfaction of our customers is very important to us. I have to admit the delays on this job certainly were not ones that are normal or acceptable and understand his frustration. I will give you the facts of this transaction and let you decide.... The job- 2 large cracks 11' long in a back patio due to poor conditions for water flow in a back yard of a town home. When it rains the water has no place to go due to poor landscape design. The water stays and has made his existing patio crack. I was asked to repair what I could, replace what was needed and apply 280sf of acrylic overlay to the entire patio. My min charge to saw cut, demo, haul off and pour new concrete is $850. In addition to this, I bid him to repair the second crack and apply stamped overlay to the patio. When we did the demo, we found the concrete to be 10" thick. I bid him for 4" thick. We didn't have to demo as much area as I had originally thought, so his demo and replaced concrete was less total square footage. Instead of keeping my min charge, I lowered it $100 and this customer DID NOT see any increase in price for his 10" thick concrete. Great deal for him!!! He also added 30sf of additional overlay ($120) to a walk way that was not in the original bid. When all was said and done his bill was difference of a few dollars. Overlay normally costs between 6-8 per sf. I charged him $4. Another great deal! Between his demo being finished and his overlay being started, he is correct. We had a 2 week delay. At all times I communicated with him letting him know what was going on. I told him the truth. I had fired my main crew of over 7 years due to poor quality work completed on another job (not this one) With this happening, I had to quickly get a second crew started, trained and up to speed of what we expect for quality, cleanliness and timeliness. We had a back log of customers just like him that had delays. Once we got back on schedule his job and all others were completed with utmost quality and cleanliness. I have pictures of his job and it is beautiful!!! He has yet to pay for the job even though our agreement was payment at completion. I took him for his word and completed this job with ZERO down payment. It is sad that he brought this to public forum in an attempt to damage our spotless reputation instead of dealing with me directly or being understanding that sometimes things do happen that we have little control over and must adapt to them. I did the best I could given the situation. I would love for anyone reading this to visit my website... jmiconcrete.com...Take a look at our work ....visit the Registrar of Contractors website...Check my spotless record since 1999.
