Triple E Construction was founded in Prescott, AZ in 1998 by Jeffrey Edwards. Originally a framing subcontractor and remodeler, we decided to expand our services by adding trim carpentry and window installation. In 2005 we took the next big step and became a General Contractor. Since then we have also become a Pella Certified Contractor and a Titan Security Door distributor and installer.
Times have changed since 1998 but one thing has stayed the same, our commitment to our customers. We selected Titan doors for several reasons. (1) They are fabricated of high strength aircraft grade aluminum rather than steel, so they won't rust. Titan claims that their aluminum doors are actually stronger than comparable steel security doors. (2) They are powder-coated rather than being painted, so the door finish is tougher and less prone to chipping. (3) They can be constructed with aluminum mesh panels in place of the normal fabric bug- or sun-screens, and when so constructed can be fitted with single-cylinder deadbolt locks so you don't have to use a key to to open them from inside the house. (4) They can be fitted with optional glass panels (which we purchased) that turn them into storm doors during inclement weather. (5) We had Titan doors on our previous house in Mesa and were very satisfied with their quality. (6) Titan is a (relatively) local company out of Tempe AZ. Titan doors are most frequently sold through Lowes stores and installed by Lowes sub-contractors, which is how we purchased them for our last house. There are also a few independent contractors that deal with Titan doors, such as Triple E. All Titan doors are constructed to order, and the doors come in a few standard sizes but can also be ordered for custom-sized openings for an increased price. We had three standard size doors (two 96X36 and one 80X32) and one that required custom dimensions (96X32). Due to the existing exterior door installation on our house that wrapped stucco around the existing door frames, the mounting of the security doors required removal of stucco around the door frame, attachment of the security doors to the existing wooden door jambs, and necessary stucco repair and paint. We obtained estimates from both Lowes and Triple E Construction. Lowes initial estimate was considerably lower but did not include the required stucco removal and repair; we would have to secure this work independently. We obtained separate estimates for the stucco work from independent contractors to arrive at a total cost through Lowes. Then we obtained a quote from Triple E, which included all required labor including stucco repair and paint. In the end, Triple E's quotation was still slightly higher than the combined Lowes/stucco contractor estimate, but we felt more comfortable dealing with a single company rather than having multiple contractors involved in a single job. The owner of Triple E Construction, Jeff Edwards, came by the house to verify door dimensions and explain how he planned to complete the project. He proposed to remove the interfering stucco around the exterior door jambs, then cut and install redwood spacers to extend the door jambs far enough outward to allow attachment of the Titan door frames. All original water-diversion hardware around the existing doors would be retained or replaced as necessary. Once the Titan door frames were attached to the redwood jamb spacers, Triple E would then repair and paint the door jambs and surrounding stucco, leaving a minimal 1/4 inch protrusion of the security door frame from the surrounding wall for a finished appearance. The original time estimate for installation was two to three days. Door fabrication and delivery took about three weeks. Triple E contacted us when the doors arrived and scheduled the installation. A two-man crew performed the work with occasional personal input from the owner. The actual job took five days as there was some additional modification required on the existing door jambs and concrete door steps. All of the work was done professionally and the doors function and look great, giving the appearance that they were installed during the original construction of the house. In the end, I think the original labor estimate was low, but Triple E honored their quote and completed the work with no additional charges. We have had numerous compliments on the appearance of the doors and enjoy having the ventilation while maintaining a secure environment in the house. I highly recommend Triple E Construction for door and window construction and replacement.
Description of Work: We hired Triple E Construction to install four Titan brand security doors on our house in Prescott Valley.
