They were just very conscientious and prompt. They kept us informed throughout the process. I was very pleased with them. With regard to price, I don’t really have much to compare it to having not used anybody else, but they did a quality job. So it was worth the money. With regard to responsiveness, they were excellent. They showed up when they said they would. I would definitely use them again in the future.

I have to give a huge thumbs up to Granite Basin Roofing!! What an amazing guy the owner Greg is! We asked him to do an inspection (last minute) of the roof on the house we are trying to buy, and he spent so much time on explaining every detail for us ... and when he found that there were only a couple minor issues he offered to just fix them *on the spot*! He didn't leave until he was sure we were comfortable with his inspection and report on it.

They did a beautiful job. It took a while for them to get here. They missed a couple of appointments. But when they finally did get to us, they did a great job. The price was very fair, and the quality was excellent.
Description of Work: Granite Basin Roofing Inc put in skylights for me. They also sealed up some areas on the roof that needed some sealing.

Greg showed up on time for our quote appointment. We spent time on the roof and we talked about options. Greg promised to work with our insurance company. The quote came in so affordable that I added upgraded skylights and ridge venting on the house and garage. The work crews showed up on the scheduled day and finished all work in three days. They used a better synthetic underlayment that no other outfit even suggested. They placed ice and water shield over about 2//3 of the whole roof and personally showed me how they sealed the skylights. After work was completed they cleaned up well and the boss Greg even showed up to inspect the work a week later. Granite Basin then waited patiently for our insurance company to work out its payment schedule.
Description of Work: Replaced composition shingle roof, upgraded skylights, added roof ridge venting.

Granite Basin was highly rated on Angie's List and I wanted quality work done so I called on Friday and asked if someone could come out and provide an estimate for a missing shingle and a loose chimney cap. We just bought this house and it's 15 years old. An appointment was made for Monday at 1:00. At about noon Monday I got a call from the office that Greg (the owner) was running a little late from another job and was asked if it would it be ok if he showed up about 20 minutes late. She was apologetic but when someone's coming to look at your roof you should plan on some time for a thorough inspection. It was not a problem for me to wait and most companies I've dealt with wouldn't have bothered to call. Greg showed up about 1:15, introduced himself and immediately apologized for being late. Again, what company would say they would arrive at a specific time anyway. I showed him where to find the missing shingle and asked him to check the chimney. I pointed out he wouldn't need to buy shingles for the repair estimate because I had found a small stack - apparently the house had been re-roofed a few years ago. After a bit Greg came down and asked if I'd be comfortable getting on the roof. We went up and he showed me what needed to be done to fix the shingle and the chimney cap. He showed me each screw that was loose and those he'd replace. He explained that he had some concern about whether or not the screws were long enough to get a good 'bite' into the wood to hold down. He said he could do the work right then if I wanted or I could get other estimates. I decided to get the work done then since we live out of town quite a ways and these were not major repairs. He spent about 20 - 30 minutes working on the roof which surprised (and pleased) me since repair work was not in his schedule and I thought they were fairly minor. When he was done he asked if I'd feel comfortable getting on the roof again so he could show me what he did. The shingle repairs were solid. He explained that he worked to the edge of the roof and made sure those shingles were down solid. We get a lot of wind since we're on top of a hill so I appreciated that. Next he showed me the chimney cap and explained that all screws went in solid and he replaced a couple more than he originally planned. He caulked all the screws including the couple that he didn't need to replace. I pulled on the cap on all four sides and it is clearly held down solidly. He also pointed out that the chimney cap was not properly caulked so he had caulked that as well. He then pointed out a cosmetic crack in the stucco on the chimney. He give me a recommendation of what type of caulk he prefers because he's found it can withstand the elements better than others. He told me the brand name and where to buy it. There's only one store in Prescott that sells it. Not something you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. He said it's the only brand he'll use. Again, his concern is with quality. I was very please with the quality of the work, his professionalism, office staff professionalism and the amount of time he spent with me. He did not rush through the work or his explanations, again taking extra time to give advice on the best caulk to use. My dad was a contractor and I worked summers in high school and college for him. I helped with framing, sheetrock, insulation and roofing. He was a perfectionist. Although it's been a few years I know that I was getting honest information and quality work from Granite Basin. I also need the facia boards on one gable repainted. Greg said they could do it but was honest enough to explain it's not their speciality. I was pleased enough with his concern for quality that I have asked him to send me an estimate. I'll probably still get quotes from painters. If you want quality work from a professional I recommend you at least get an estimate from Granite Basin and ask a lot of questions of each company about the details to the work they will do and the products they will use.

Overall I am very happy with my new roof and skylight. They told me it would take two days and it actually took 3 because they didn't show up on the second day. I wouldn't have minded if they had a scheduling conflict and needed to skip a day but no one told me, so I was waiting around most of the day. So my only complaint so far would be some lack of communication. Otherwise they seemed professional and cleaned up pretty well. Oh and to compensate for the confusion over the skipped work day, they gave a me a discount on my skylight which I thought was very nice and a fair way to handle it. I went to their office to choose my materials and the staff there was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can't comment on the quality of the work as only time will tell how the roof performs and I am writing this about 6 weeks later. But the estimate was a few hundred dollars less than another company's and the job was finished in a timely manner with very few problems and it looks very nice. One problem was that some of the drywall around one of my old skylights flaked off (on the inside of the house) when they were removing the old roof. I pointed it out and they had someone come over and repair it at no charge. I was told this is a common thing when working around existing skylights. This is understandable I guess and they fixed it in a timely manner. At this point, I would say I would hire them again.

The entire process was as painless--even pleasant--as a roofing job could possibly be, thanks to the outstanding staff! Since I live out of town, I had only two weeks in which to obtain estimates and schedule a re-roofing job for my retirement/rental property, while leaving enough time for the gutters to be replaced, too. Within that two weeks they gave me an estimate, assessed the condition of the roof (including hail damage and drip edge issues), set up a date for tear-off and installation, and rearranged the date when it seemed the monsoons would hit before my departure date. The excellent service of the administrative team was matched by the installers. They arrived in good time, worked consistently and professionally, and finished the entire job in two days--including the replacement of a considerable amount of rotted roof sheeting, reinstalling the A/C (discovering and correcting a previous issue that resulted in cooled air venting to the outside), and an excellent job of cleaning up. When I belatedly discovered a fascia board that had split when the gutters were removed, they showed up very early the next morning (before their regularly scheduled job) to remove the rotted board and replace it with a new one. They even painted it for me so it would be ready when the gutter company came out later that morning. This could have been a stressful and disastrous experience; instead it was a joy to work with such friendly and professional people. My thanks to all of them, including Greg and Jamie, who wrote and re-wrote the proposal as needs changed and who worked so hard to meet my scheduling challenges.
Description of Work: Full roof tear-off and replacement with 30-year architectural shingles (except for "Torchdown Modified Bitumen" over AZ room) including replacement of rotted plywood sheeting around most of the perimeter; removal and replacement of A/C, satellite dish, and rotted/split fascia, and improvement of drip edges, flashing, and transition from roof of main house to roof of AZ room.

When I asked them to come to the house and look they came the same day. They were very prompt. He gave a detailed, written estimate that seemed to have everything on it included. He explained it thoroughly. He brought samples of the shingle to the house that I wanted even though they were fairly heavy to carry. He discussed all the things I wanted and seemed to be personable to deal with. He said he would do it what ever day I needed him do so he seemed flexible. That's why I chose him.

One of things I didn't like was the workers were messy, didn't clean the nails off the yard, and I am still finding them. The man doing the roofing was thorough and honest. The price was competitive and our insurance paid for it. I give them good ratings and would use them or at least get an estimate from them. My son used them and wasn't satisfied, as he had a problem that needed to be fixed, but it wasn't the whole roof.

The work was done in a timely and professional manner. I have no problem with the work performed. They did a great job. However, I am having issues with the functionality of the 'manual' dimmer. After installation, I discussed my concern with him and he said we would work on a solution for me. He gave me a longer wand to operate the manual dimmer, but this is not an acceptable solution. Over a 3 week period, I have left 3 messages for Greg to call me back. He has not returned my calls. My biggest pet peeve is lack of communication and being dissatisfied with a product/service I paid for and the vendor is not willing to address the issue.

When I called roofing companies to inspect a job that Top Roofing had done for me, and I was not sure it had been done properly. Some roofing companies did not want to do the job, others wanted a fee that ranged between $150-$165. Brad Blinston of Granite Basin Roofing, accepted to inspect the roof for me, came on time, checked the work and did not charge anything. I am very thankful.
Description of Work: I had a roof replaced on an addition of a house. I was not sure about the quality of the work, I am in no shape to climb on a roof, I wouldn't know how to judge the quality of the work anyway. I called roofing companies to have the new roof inspected and give me an opinion.
