Clean Fairies

Description of Work: I found the "Clean Fairies" ironically listed in Angie's List. My former cleaning service (Grand Old Time), which I loved, had closed; the owner had decided to retire. Reluctantly I started searching for a new service. I noted that the Clean Fairies had an office at the Crossings and a web site--good indicators to start with. I went to the website and was instantly confused. The site was very professionally made and just didn't seem "Prescott"-like. I noted the contact phone numbers were in a CA area code so I sent an email to the link provided. I got a prompt reply from the owner of Clean Fairies, who confirmed the service was indeed based in Long Beach, CA, and who said he had no franchise in Prescott. Apparently some business in Prescott just "borrowed" his web site and phone number was using it as their own. I could tell he was angry and was going to take action against this service. He thanked me for exposing the fraudulent use of his business materials (logo, web site, etc.) and we concluded the call. | |Now, tell me, would you want to hire a business that used fraudulent advertising materials from another company- for anything ? They didn't have the sense to change the phone number on the web site or any information that would lead to the real Clean Fairies in Long Beach. I'm not sure how they expected prospective clients to contact them other than via their address at the Crossings (which for all I know may have been fabricated as well). I'm sure, by now, they are operating under another name, address and may have a legitimate phone number. I wish I could tell the reader who to watch out for. They can still call their business "Clean Fairies," because business names/licenses are county-specific. To that end, I warn any unsuspecting would-be employer to be extremely wary of any cleaning service operating under the name Clean Fairies, CleanFairies, or something similar. Be certain, as in all cases, to get a copy of your prospective hire's bond and license and any Better Business Bureau certification. Several references also are not too much to ask for. My past house cleaner gave me a good education in what to ask for, look for, and how to negotiate a reasonable rate. Thanks, Jon: I miss you!
