The Skylight Guy

I initially contacted my roofing company to replace my broken and leaking skylight. Although they gave me an estimate and accepted a partial payment from me, I couldn't get them to call me with details on the scope of the work (regarding the kind of skylight they planned to put in) or to actually schedule the installation. Finally I called a 2nd company, and they also failed to follow through with promises to call and schedule the work, which they had said they would handle as an emergency. But then I found The Skylight Guys on Angie's List and called them. This was on a Friday afternoon in August during the monsoon season. They returned my call on Saturday, and on Sunday The Skylight Guys were at the house to take a look and give me a recommendation and an estimate. I got the estimate on Monday for their best quality skylight, which came in slightly less than the estimate I got from my (ex)roofing company. On Thursday The Skylight Guys came back to complete the work. It was so refreshing to have a company respond to my call and follow through with the things they said they would do, and do it professionally and punctually and with a great attitude. I would use this company again.

This was the best experience!!!! Our house is an older home with additions, so the interior was very dark. I couldn't decide between solar tubes and skylights and had a few people come over and quote. Chris was the only person who came for a quote that actually went up in our crazy attic and looked at the trusses and rafters to give us options. It was a big reason we went with them, as we knew there would be issues with the attic and Freelite basically told us that if we decided to more forward then they'd assess it. So, we initially installed 3 skylights, and they looked fabulous. The whole experience was great, Chris did the work, he was punctual and friendly, had good ideas and he made this cone of plastic around his work area and left NO MESS; I didn't even have to vacuum. I was so pleased with the results that I had them come back and install another skylight and 6 solar tubes. I love this company and wholeheartedly recommend them. Its kind of scary spending all this money and cutting holes in the roof and being able to talk it out with someone who isn't pressuring you, has good ideas and takes pride in their work helps so much. He even made a couple of suggestions that saved me quite a bit of money and I appreciated that he wanted me to be happy with the result not just push the cost up. Every part of doing this was a good experience and I tell anyone who will listen all about it!

He was excellent...Very knowledgeable and very considerate...He showed where it would look best, even if it wouldn't be centered in the kitchen which was the best option... and when my husband came home, he couldn't believe how bright the 3 rooms were (laundry-Kitchen- and Master closet)...Great Service...Would use him again and would highly recommend him!

From the first phone call, Kris was an absolute professional. He helped us to choose skylights and placement for our home and did not try to sell us on top-priced options or upgrades. He outlined a plan and a timeframe and followed it exactly. He arrived on time each day well prepared and worked hard. He showed great concern for the kids, the dog, and the neighbors and tries to be as considerate as possible, keeping the work area bagged and protected and safe. Kris's skills are also top notch. The installation was done well and the finish work is excellent. He textured the new drywall and patched the ceiling in a way that you can not tell where the seam is. He is organized and cleaned everything up well. We are loving our new skylights! There is just one problem - now I want them in every room! I wouldn't hesitate to have The Skylight Guy back for additional work.

Kris was extremely helpful and obviously knew the best skylight for our needs. He actually talked us out of the blinds which saved us $700! Said we would not need them in our particular setup. There was little wait for getting the job done. He came out two days after we made our decision. The actual install took very little time. While he was on the roof, he noticed that there was a debris build-up preventing proper drainage from the roof. It is nice when someone takes the time to let you know these things, rather than be the kind of person that feels that is not his responsibility to inform. My husband was able to get right up there and take care of the problem. We never would have known about it otherwise, until the damage to the house had been done! We liked Kris' attitude and his workmanship.

They just did a great job. The guy who came out did exactly what he said he was going to do. It was a great finished product. Its a nice new solar skylight.

Called and sent message early September. They replied via Angie's list promptly and said someone would call right away for an appointment. Nobody called. I followed up 2 weeks later and they again said someone would call. That was 3 weeks ago.

I rarely will post a review as never put much faith in them.....so often it could be the business posting to up their review status. But have to say the installation today by Kryz was the best job I have received from a contractor in a very long time! Although there was quite a delay getting to this point, apparently due to a shipping issue from the manufacturer, Kryz showed up exactly on time, was clean, more than a professional and am 100% happy with the installation. Their price was not the lowest but after a job is done right the first time the extra cost is not as big an issue. I highly recommend this company and will surely use them again if the other skylights crack or fall apart (older plastic dome types).

They never returned my email so no service was performed.

Very neat during removal and replacement. Good communicators. Would happily do business with them again.

After going out to Angies list and going through many reviews I settled on contacting the Skylight Guys for my installation. From my first call to my final installation I could not be happier. We just moved into a 55+ community and our home does not have very much sunlight due to so many awnings and the way it is situated in our park. We were always having to turn on the lights, even in mid-day. I had researched the cost of skylights and it seemed the most cost effective were the solar tubes. We called the Skylight Guys on a Tuesday and scheduled our installation for Friday of the same week.They provided us the total cost of the job and we were satisfied. I looked into a flat skylight, but it was probably going to cost me about twice the price of the two solar tube lights. Our technician Eric showed up on time and explained the process and started the job. He said it would take him about two hours to install the two lights and it took just under two hours. Once the job was complete we were amazed at how much light comes in now and it is so nice that it almost looks like we left a couple of lights on. Eric also went out of his way to show me a couple of pictures he took with the camera on his phone when he was on our roof. He showed me where we may want to replace a couple of shingles due to wear around two of our roof vents and he showed me the pictures of how they were curling up a bit. He did not have to do that, but that extra customer service was really a nice touch to my whole experience. I give Eric and the Skylight Guys two thumbs up, they were awesome.

Once again, Pete did an outstanding job. He arrived on time and finished the job in one day.

I requested a maintenance visit to fix some skylight blinds that were not working. The skylight manufacturer uses this company as its installer/service provider in Phoenix. When The Skylight Guy did not follow up at the request of the manufacturer, I called them and was told to expect a call back the same day. Two weeks later I still had not received a follow up call despite another attempt to get some service. Finally I received an email offering to come to look at the issue since another appointment had cancelled. In other words, I was an afterthought. I related the story to the caller about how I was supposed to have been called and his response was that, and quot;Well, I only have one guy that does this kind of work, blah, blah, blahand quot;. Why is that my problem? Completely unprofessional.

Great job...I now have light in every room of my home.

The owner, Ken, was very professional and responsive. His drywall specialist, Kryz, was also very professional. The project took much longer than I would have liked, but I attribute this to 1) delay other vendors caused (we needed to reroute some ductwork), and 2) the general difficulty in coording multiple vendors - especially from a distance. Near the end, there was a miscommunication between Ken and myself which resulted in further dealy. I was waiting for the drywall touch-up work to be accomplished, and the installation of a solar shade to the kitchen skylight. I had to follow up on this, and since this would have delayed my next project of having my walls refinished, I decided to cancel and have the next vendor complete the drywall touch-up before adding the treatment to the walls.

The Skylight Guy was fast, efficient, and knowledgeable. They were reasonable as well. We really like them.

They were very prompt in showing up when there was a lot of rain. They came and repaired it in the first trip itself and they responded within two days. I was very impressed with their responsiveness. They only had to fix it once. They were very professional on the phone and the repair guy was very friendly. They showed up on time as well. I rate them high overall as they came out when nobody else would and fixed it very quickly for a good price.

I called the company and they sent someone out for an estimate promptly. Someone came to the house and said he would email me an estimate. However, after a week of no response, I called to remind them. They apologized for the delay and again said they'd give me an estimate at the end of day. Now, three weeks later, I have given up. Doesn't seem like they have their act together.

We got a quote via email from the Skylight Guys. After seeing their rating on Angie's List we contacted them to do the work. The installer (forgot his name) called us early on the day of the install to assess the weather in our part of town. Since it was raining he was concerned about the condition. By the time he arrived, there was a light drizzle and he assured us that this would not be a problem and proceeded to install. He took care not to make a mess and install the solar tube in about 2 hours. I do have some concerns about the placement of the tube on our roof. He put the hole where two parts of our roof joins. This caused some problems since it limited the space to place the dome and caused some problems in opening the hole. Concerned that these complications may cause a leak in the future. This wasn't his fault since he didn't know the roof layout and didn't have attic access. Luckily they offer a multi-year warranty on their labor and install so if there is a problem in the next few years they will come out to fix it. Overall, we have been very happy with it and wondered why we didn't get one installed years ago. Would recommend these guys without reservations.

It was a young fellow who did the work. He was very professional and prompt. We knew that we needed new sky lights in our kitchen. My husband spoke to the office manager and told him that we were going to have our roof redone, so we wanted his advice on what should be done first. The manager said that it did not make any difference so we went ahead and had the roof done. When the fellow came out to install it, they did not have the sky light that we wanted so he did all the work and put in a similar sky light in until ours came in. Then when it came, he had to take off the old sky light and install the new one and damaging the roof in the process. So I called them with regard to the roof and the office manager wanted to have his people come out and do it. I did not want them to do it as it would void out warranty on the roof. Finally I got the roofing company to repair it and when I paid the Sky Light Guys, I deducted a certain amount that I was charged to get the roof repaired. Besides that, their products were excellent and we had to have a lot of work done in the kitchen to install that sky light. The people, who did the work, did a fantastic job and the master carpenter was really good.

He does a wonderful job. He left the house so clean that you would not know that anyone had been working here. He was so prompt and came out quickly to do the job. He was nice and so professional.

Eric, the installer showed up on time, was very pleasant to work with, did a great job with the installation and placement of the lights, and finished with an excellent clean-up.

Jason, the inspector/installer arrived on time as promised and was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He determined the work required, described it, and discussed available options. Ken sent the estimate via email. We scheduled the installation via email. Jason arrived on time for the installation and completed the job within 90 minutes. He waterproofed the installation using foam and cleaned the job site before leaving.

The Skylight Guy was a pleasure to have over and I hope to be able to have the new skylights installed some day. He was very knowledgeable and told me if I had the extra tiles for the roof he could reapply a couple to avoid the leaking problem I had been having. He had a fair price and knew what he was talking about. The cost was for the skylights and the labor.
