This company is very unreliable, they operate out of their home and Fred Shelby's wife Barbara is who takes the calls, answers the phone with "Hello" (no identification of the company name). Long story short we waited over one month for this service to be done , we were contstantly stalled, several phone calls were made to follow up on what was taking so long several excuses were given. We were told they had no control over the delivery of the part from the 3rd party when infact we knew the part was available in one days time at most pool suppliers. They would not return one phone call that we placed, giving excuses like "we were not home so we couldn't return phone calls.... ". (so you mean say you are a comany in business since 2005 and you can not return a phone call to one of your clients because you were not home?)..... They promply cashed the check for the service fee and that was their only goal (to cash a service fee check) and move on. I have never encounterd a service provider like this, would never use them again and would not recommend them to anyone for anything. We had to get our insurance comany involved in this issue, and thus they will no longer be one of the companies that our insurance company uses. Another comany was called in and the spa was repaired in 4 business days and installed to our satisfaction. Fred Shelby Pools is a joke with an FFFF Rating....!!!!

A contract was signed in August 2014 with Fred Ross the owner of Shelby pools, to build a pool for 25,000.00 dollars. Fred sat in our home on several occasions with several persons present. One person was his foreman "Victor" another gentleman who was the designer. We discussed in detail what we wanted and had several pictures. The contract was signed after several meetings and discussions to confirm that Fred and Victor could do the job for the above mentioned price. After our approval the permits got turned in and the first payment was made to Fred. It was nothing but a disaster after that; first set of workers arrived and started the dig, steel and plumbing. Not once during this first phase did we see Victor. Several attempts to call Victor were made due to incorrect items such as only three jets to the Jacuzzi and there should have been six. After several days of no returned calls, my husband called Fred who also tried calling Victor without response. After several days of back and fourth issues got fixed. On the last day of this phase of the pool one of the workers ask me for money. I explained that 8,333.00 was already paid to Fred. My husband call Fred immediately to tell him that the works are asking us for money. We were told by Fred that Victor went away to Mexico and that he would find out why the workers didn't get paid. The next group of works came to install the electrical with no problems. The first inspection was ordered. While waiting for an appointment with the inspector no workers were scheduled. Basically the pool is on hold until inspection to move on to the next phase. One night I was sitting in my back yard with my dog and I heard the gate open "it was dark" so I got up quickly to go back into the house and before I opened the door I heard a voice talking to my dog saying "hi doggy". It was a man with a thick Mexican accent. I turned around and it was one of the original workers from the first group of men who worked on the pool. He picked up a few tools and some steel that was still laying in the yard and jumped into the pool to do something and then jumped out and asked me for money again. I again explained to the man that we paid already and for him never to come in my back yard again at night and for him to talk to Fred or Victor. My husband call Fred again this time irate that a man would come to our home at night and go into our back yard then ask me for money. It was then that Fred told us Victor took the money and didn't pay the workers for the job. A lock was placed on our back yard and if any workers wanted in they would have to come to the front door. We allowed workers to come and go there was no set time scheduled and if we were told a time they didn't show up at that time anyway. Fred assured us this would not affect the cost of the pool that he would handle it. The second phase of the pool is still not finished. The issues that we have had to deal with in this phase have been indescribable. "A three ring circus" with the worst workers that we have EVER encountered. The crew that was hired by Fred built the waterfall which went well, however the owner discussed a different type of coping with us that would enhance the pools appearance. We agreed instead of the standard concrete coping we would use a brick coping with rounded edges. The extra cost would of course be paid directly to the persons performing the job not Fred. Well the job got started and had to be fixed fours times before it was even visually and correctly done. The man who we paid had his family working with him most of the time which included his daughter and wife. The job was done so poorly that at one point my husband said pull it all out and give us our money back. The wife was grouting the coping with her fingers, it got all over the brick that the brick doesn't even look like brick anymore. And during the extra project Fred was hospitalized for 2 weeks. There was several other issues with this man such as correct leveling of pool edge and filters, etc. The list goes on and on. If we would not have been outside everyday making sure things were getting done correctly who knows what we would end up with! Fred has never once been at our house for more than 30 minutes . This week the concrete deck was poured and my husband insisted Fred be present because if the concrete gets messed up it will be an expensive mistake, Fred had to be called several times because the truck was out front and wanted to pour before he finally arrived. And the kicker is the trucked leaked motor oil all over our drive way and side concrete slab. The owner of the company did agree to come back and pressure wash. At this point we have explained to Fred we have been more than understanding and patient. The pool was agreed to be finished no later than Sept 25th since there was also several periods of rain that delayed things, however; pool was scheduled for completion in 30 days and it was started 8/14/14 and its the end of November. The pool pump, vacuum, salt cell, tile, mini pebble and stamped concrete overlay have not been done. My husband calls Fred on a daily basis. Sometimes he gets a call back and sometimes Fred's wife calls back with absolutely no plan other than they are working on it. This has been the biggest mistake of our lives and it pays to go with the big name companies with the bigger price tag. There is a mess in my yard left behind from every persons who has worked on this pool, they leave garbage everywhere even if we leave the trash can in the back. We have tried being understanding with rain delays, health issues, and horrible workers, but enough is enough. I would never recommend this company to anyone. The complete lack of hustle to get the job done and done right is not something that has been demonstrated. The fact that we have spent over 20,000.00 up to this point does not seem to bother this company. The gentleman who came in our back yard at night returned for a third time, asking for his money, he brought his son with him who spoke English and my husband explained money was already paid for the job, we even showed the man the receipt of payment signed by Fred. At this point we have no idea when the pool is going to get finished or even if it will. The next step is calling Arizona register of contractors and start filing a complaint. 11/3/14 Its been several weeks and no one has been out to work on the pool we are getting the run around, and keep getting told someone will be out and that still has not happened. The ROC has been contacted and paper work has been started since the contract has not been fulfilled and its 4 months past the agreed finish date. We have a incomplete pool in our back yard and have spent more that 20,000. TRUST this company at your own risk.
