Description of Work: That 401.00 was for 3 months, plus i will have to pay the last one. that was one month phone and internet, and 2 months just internet. Ok I have used them in the past didn't like them back then either, I said I wasn't going to use them again but when i was trying to get landline and internet I tried to go with cox (I would defiently go with them again I did have some problems but not nearly as bad as qwest) but they said that i dont get service in my area so the only other choice was qwest, so I called them on april 29th and they said they will come out on the 5th of may, the guy who set it up gave me the the standerd speed for internet, I told him I need the best speed, for movies, youtube, etc. he said it would work and if it doesnt i could change anytime, but what he didn't tell me is It would take weeks or almost a month, alot of hassle with customer service, and having to get a new modem then having to send the other one back. They said they wouldn't charge me for the modem if I returned it in 30 days. They didn't mention the code I had to put on the return label. I returned it within a week, but because I didn't put the code on the label they charged me $109. I finally got that straightened out in almost 3 weeks. But that didn't make a difference because they charged me again and again. The first month was $81 when it should have been $60. because of start-up fees. The next month it was $129 plus the $81 which I had already paid. I called them and finally got that taken care of. Then I called Cox and found out that they do service my area, so I changed to them for phone service. The next month Quest should have billed me $35 a month for the next 6 months. The next month my bill was $159! They said that the phone was disconnected 1 day after the bill was printed, so I only should pay the internet portion, which they said was only $66. I ended up having to pay $110. The last month I called to inquire about my bill and they said it was $497. I was current with my Quest bill at that time. I called up and cancelled everything because they were still charging me for the phone which I had cancelled. After talking to several representatives over the course of several days, they finally lowered it to $26. They said I had to return the new modem within 30 days. I did so, and now they are charging me another $109 for the modem. I cancelled the internet on July 22nd. I tracked the shipment through UPS and they show that it had arrived at its destination. I sent it out on the 28th of July and it arrived on the 3rd of August. They were not to charge me unless it was not returned within 30 days. It has only been 12 days since I cancelled. So now about the customer service. When I called the day before Mother's Day in May, I talked to a lady about getting a higher speed. She couldn't get it to work, so she said she would talk to someone who could do it and call me back the next day at about 2:30. I was waiting for the call and I was supposed to go out for Mother's Day. I waited till 3:00 then called back and talked to a lady who put me on hold without letting me know. When she gets back on 5 minutes later she thanked me for holding and I told her I didn't appreciate not being told I was being put on hold, then she said it was an accident. I asked for a supervisor and she lied to him about what she said. So I told him when she got back on she thanked me for holding and I said "Does that sound like an accident?" That's when I found out the lady who said she was going to get a supervisor to take care of the problem and call me at 2:30 never talked to anyone and did not intend to call me. The entire time I had to deal with Quest's customer service I dealt with rude people and different stories. Only 2 people I talked to were polite.

I recently moved and had simple instructions for multiple Qwest representatives (It took 3 calls before one representative seemed to be either motivated or capable to act on my requests) 1) Cancel my landline 2) Transfer my DSL service as I need to have an internet connection to set up and activate VOIP (I was going to use Qwest for VOIP until this experience and I found out it would take them 3-6 weeks to activate the service). I also use DTV and allow Qwest to bundle, which is another headache. Three weeks go bye and I get an email from Qwest for a bill that I cannot open or access online (I called a Qwest rep two days ago and the rep said that was normal and I should be able to open it in a couple of days). The bill is well beyond what a DTV and DSL bill should be. I learn on today's call that NONE of the services at the old address were canceled. This is despite the fact that it was confirmed by multiple reps over the phone to me and was even indicated in their notes on file. To make matters worse I allowed Qwest to set me up for the "convenience" of auto-billpayment so I paid this erroneous bill automatically. The agent I spoke with today, who had to transfer me to another agent at Qwest, clearly saw the error was on their part and said that they will reimburse me for all charges, however they cannot simply credit my credit card, instead they will have to mail me a check which will take 4-6 weeks to receive. This company is incredibly disorganized, not customer friendly, and should be avoided whenever possible unless one deliberately seeks out aggravation or requires DSL. I am now strongly considering the cable company for high speed internet, which unfortunately also hurts.
Description of Work: There are limited providers for telephone and internet in the valley so my choice for DSL was Qwest or nothing

I have always enjoyed the service that DirectTV provided, but when I moved, I thought I would switch to a Qwest bundle that included DirectTV. I was supposed to save at least $50/month, which made it worth the hassle of switching. It was a pain to switch and now that I've had it for a while, I can't see how I'm saving any money. Working through Qwest to resolve DirectTV billing questions is a pain. Qwest has limited business hours for these types of questions, where DirectTV is available 24/7. Also, I'm trying to switch from one type of internet service with Qwest to another one that is supposed to be cheaper and faster. But that is not going smoothly either. We had the appointment all set up to make the switch, and then they called me to tell me that there was another change going on with the service and that I would need to wait, and then call back to reschedule the appointment. It just seems like everything I try to do with Qwest is more complicated than it needs to be and requires multiple phone calls and appointments to get anything done. If I didn't want a land line internet connection, I wouldn't do business with them at all.
Description of Work: I went with the bundled, internet, satellite TV and home phone.

Sent in request to have wireless internet installed, no one responded so I called the number on the card, they told me that they did not handle that and gave me an alternate number. I tried that number 3x and gave up after staying on hold about an hour each time.

The initial connection cost seemed a little high, even though it was spread out over three months. However, in addition to the needed equipment and the wireless connection, QWest provided telephone tech support. The support technician guided me through connecting the equipment and getting it to work not only with my Mac but also with a laptop PC. Every time I ve called QWest, the service has been polite, professional, and very helpful. Now that the initial connection price is paid, the monthly bill is no more than another was. The connection is very fast and reliable unlike others, QWest never knocks me off-line. QWest gets a bad rap for its customer service; this company has improved immeasurably over the past few years and is well worth considering for Internet access.
Description of Work: Wireless internet connection and ongoing service. OK, I admit it: I m a hopeless tightwad when it comes to communications. Because I have access to a high-speed Internet connection at the office, I delayed getting a high-speed connection at home, but a few months ago I finally gave in to QWest s blandishments and signed up for the wireless service. Cost was $130 for setup and $20 or so a month for the line.
