About us

What began as a hobby in the spring of 2012, quickly blossomed into a successful and rewarding occupation. Although Dan Punch had been doing live bee removals & relocations on nights and weekends while working at the ASU Honeybee Research Facility, Punch Honeybee Company, LLC. was officially founded in the spring of 2014. In August of 2014, Dan Punch, himself the former head beekeeper at the ASU Bee Laboratory, partnered with his predecessor, Nick Baker, who while working at the Honeybee Research Lab for eight years, obtained his masters degree in biology. Together they combine their love and knowledge of bees, bee behavior, construction/remodeling, and of course, the taste for honey to make Punch Honeybee Company a unique business that not only works to save the honeybee, but also educate people about these fascinating creatures. Because we had to work with them at ASU, we are experts when it comes to “Africanized” bees and their behavior and are extremely successful in their relocation. We have developed our own methods and tools that we use to safely and humanely extract colonies ALIVE from almost any structure or situation. We are currently researching and developing methods with former colleagues in which we can use the Africanized honeybee to combat Colony Collapse Disorder. To date, we have rescued over 500 bee colonies from homes and businesses throughout the valley, and all of the bee colonies we keep, which we maintain on farms all over the Phoenix and surrounding areas, are ones that we have rescued. We are members of the Organic Beekeepers Group and maintain our colonies without the use of antibiotics and chemicals. Forty percent of revenue from all sales and services is used to purchase equipment to house and maintain our current and future bee colonies. Came out inspect and found out sting less bees. So he did not even charge us. He was great.

Description of Work: dan punch is like a legend in the bee removal business who knows how to move and does not kill any bees. his expertise in the field is renown. he maintains hives all over the valley. his website and facebook are filled with superb photos and videos of his work at various sites. he has a wealth of experience and know bow which he openly shares with everyone. he is active in sustainable living skills and all in all is just the best beekeeper and entertaining as all get out without even talking very much. HOWEVER, he has one flaw which could ruin his entire operation over time and that is that he is NOT A GOOD BUSINESS PERSON. he is known to make appts and not show up or call or to call and reschedule and then not arrive at that appt. either or even call ever again. if he would ask me I would suggest he hire and train people to do all but the most difficult and complicated removals and most certainly to hire an office manager to manage his appts and schedules. remarkable man tho. could very well be worth suffering thru his totally unorthodox way of doing business to experience first hand his knowledge of the beeworld.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post your review. It is true that I am only one person and that I need people to assist, however, because of the quality of work I perform, the dangers involved, and the knowledge of bees required, I cannot hire just anybody and trust them to work to the standards I require. The person I need will be unique: they need to have a good understanding of construction and remodeling, be dependable, be willing to learn, understand honeybee biology & behavior, and most importantly, have a strong desire to save honeybees. I have yet to find such a person who meets these requirements, and until I do, I will not compromise my quality of work in order to make money; I'm not doing this to get rich. I am interested in growing my business, I just need to do it correctly. I would LOVE to hire someone to take my calls, answer general questions, and help with scheduling. If you know of someone, please send them my way. In the meantime, I am doing my best to answer as many bee calls as I can the best way I can. Unfortunately at this time, if I am on a bee call and covered in bees/honey, I am busy saving the bees and will try my best to reconnect with you when I can. In regards to this reviewer, I never met with them nor have I ever been to their property.
