 + -1 moreI called this company for an estimate. I had to leave a message, because there was no one in the office. I received no response. I called again a week later and was told "Oh, I got your message, but forgot all about you". He made a appointment for a week later and was a no show. I didn't bother calling again.

Description of Work: Pool heater was inoperative and remote control of waterfall pump and accessory pool lighting were not working. Jerrold checked the heater out and it appeared there was insufficient water flow. Jerrold removed a plug from the heater and flushed it out. He also adjusted the flow valves so there was sufficient water pressure for heater to function. The pool has a separate motor for the waterfall and has fiber optic lighting operated from a remote control. The remote control was not working for the waterfall pump so I had to operate it from its circuit breaker. The fiber optic lighting was not functioning properly via the remote system. Jerrold determined that a relay associated with the pump motor was malfunctioning. He did get it to work properly. He also determined how the remainder of the remote system worked and made some adjustments so the lighting worked properly.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreI was very pleased with the work and how quickly I had hot water again.
Description of Work: I called Jerrold Saturday afternoon for a leaking water heater. He told me what time he would arrive and was on time. Checked my water heater and went to a supply store to purchase a replacement. Installed and cleaned up in a very timely fashion. He was very knowledgeable. There was no extra charge for week-end work. He also called from the supply store explaining and warranties on the models. Took old water heater away. Excellent experience. Thank you, Jerrold.

Description of Work: My water heater went out and would not relight. I made an appointment with Jerrold to come and evaluate the problem. Jerrold arrived on time and inspected the water heater. He noted that it was still under warranty and that if worked on, he could void the warranty. He recommended that I engage a technician approved under the warranty. No charge for the visit.

 + -1 moreJerrold is very easy to work with and did all he said he would do. He determined my problem quickly, thinking beyond just the unit itself. My service company had told me I needed a new unit, but Jerrold determined the problem was in the electrical system. He worked late at night to get it going and did not want payment until everything was done. Great experience and I will use him again.
Description of Work: My air conditioning system went out during the hottest time of the year. I called my regular service company and they were unable to check my system for 24 hours. I did not want to wait that long so I checked the list and called Practical Engineering. Jerrold had time to look at my system quickly. He looked at the unit and then the electrical box. He determined the problem was with my circut breakers and replaced all of them. He did all the running around for the breakers so I could go back to work. He replaced everything and a fuse box on the unit and came back at 8:30 PM to get it working that day. I have had not problems since he worked on my system.

 + -1 moreJerrold seems like a good fellow, quite honest and up front. He spent a great deal of time with me on his visit and I agree with all of his assumptions and conclusions thus far. My only concern so far is that I still have a huge water bill and large pools of water in my yard without any help to control the matter in hand.
Description of Work: Jerrold Kroll, the owner, arrived as scheduled, and toured my property on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, after which he said he wanted to bring in another consultant for help and would have to get back to me the following week by Tuesday. I called him back late that Tuesday (7.18) only to be told that he was very busy and would get back to me later.

 + -1 moreMr. Kroll called back promptly. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. Mr Kroll then asked about what was wrong. I told him I suspected a bad breaker. He said he was close and would stop by shortly to check the box. He arrived promptly and diagnosed a bad breaker. He replaced the breaker and my a/c was only down about 3 hrs. I was very impressed with the job.
Description of Work: They replaced a bad a/c main breaker. They also cleaned and connected other breakers in the box.

ALSO WANTED TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL VALVE FOR BETTER WATER USAGE. MR. KROLL SUGGESTED I COULD SAVE SOME MONEY IF I'D GET THE PRIMARY MATERIALS MYSELF. I AGREED TO DO THIS, & HE INSPECTED THE VALVES AND A FLOW REGULATION VALVE FOR THE NEW DRIP LINE. I CALLED HIM WHEN I HAD OBTAINED THE MATERIALS & HE SCHEDULED THE WORK WITHIN THE NEXT DAY OR 2. HE SHOWED UP WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD, COMPLETED THE WORK AS ADVERTISED, AND AT THE PRICE QUOTED. HE PROVIDED THE FITTINGS, PIPE AND HOSE TO COMPLETE THE JOB AS PART OF HIS QUOTE. PRICE WAS WELL-BELOW THE 2 OR 3 OTHER ESTIMATES I WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE PHONE.

SHOWED UP LATE, BUT WORKED LATER THAN PLANNED INTO THE EARLY EVENING TO COMPLETE THE JOB. (HIS PRIOR JOB RAN HIM LATE.) HAD TO WELD SOME COPPER PIPE TO MAKE THE NEW UNIT FIT; NO EXTRA CHARGE ON HIS ORIGINAL QUOTE. CLEANED UP HIS WORK AREA & HAULED OFF THE OLD HEATER AND PACKING. HE DID WHAT HE SAID HE'D DO, WHEN HE SAID HE'D DO IT, AND FOR AS MUCH AS HE SAID IT WOULD COST. YOU CAN'T ASK FOR MUCH MORE THAN THAT, AND PRICED ''RIGHT'' TOO.
