Description of Work: After weeks of trying to get someone out, we were finally able to get a service tech out to deal with an issue related to the initial installation of the salt water system. The tech told me that the salt system (which was installed by a Poolman tech) was installed improperly. He said that I could either pay for a $50 service call fee or "slip him a $20" and he'd do it. Nice. Time to find a new pool service company.

Description of Work: I have used Poolman for a number of years. I am not willing to change providers at this time since I am living outside the Phx area. Howver once I move back into the home I will be shopping for a new provider. They have been very expensive and at times hard to work with. Yesterday they called and claimed we had not paid a bill for recent service. It turns out they applied the bill to another customer ...totally their mistake. Since they always get paid on time or sooner I would expect a different approach. I do not get the feeling I am a valued customer.

The problem isn't with the regular maintenance, the problem is with special service. We have had our filters cleaned twice. Both times they have cleaned the filters in landscaping rocks (the second time they came out I specifically asked them NOT to clean them in the rocks, but to do it in the gutter or on a hard surface and they ignored the request and actually cleaned out the filters in my NEIGHBOR'S rocks...very embarrassing). Of course, what is left over is a bunch of sludgy mud and debris. Filters should be cleaned on hard surfaces, not in landscaping rocks. It leaves a huge mess that apparently we (or our neighbor) are supposed to clean up. I also spent nearly three weeks trying to get them to address problems with the in-floor system. The first time, the tech doing the weekly service was supposed to look at it, he just ignored it. Then they sent out a manager to check it out and they said the filters were clogged and reducing pressure. I requested the cleaning of the filters (which was done in the neighbor's rocks). They cleaned the filters and said the in-floor system was working. However, it was not. It seemed as though the tech didn't even watch the system to see if it was working. The next week, the pool was again filled with debris which told me the system wasn't working. I was looking for potential problems and noticed that the filter was leaking in numerous places which means when they put the filters back in, they didn't even check to see if it was leaking, so it was sucking in air and keeping the in-floor from working. The entire time I knew there was a problem with the in-floor system. I have no problem paying to have the in-floor system fixed. They just could never seem to get around to really checking the system and diagnosing the problem. It was just a long drawn out process that had me out vacuuming my pool 2-3 times a week. Finally, they are now replacing the O-ring on the filter and the mechanism in the in-floor. This should have been done in the middle of December when I first contacted them about it. It just seems that they are not thorough or professional in their work.
Description of Work: I have been using poolman as my pool service company for a little less than 1 year. They come out weekly and balance the pool, brush it and clean out the baskets. They also install a salt system at no charge with their service (if you stop service, you can buy the equipment or they will remove it at no charge). This is a great feature of their service. I have been having problems with my in-floor system. Below is how that has been addressed by Poolman.

We don?t use the pool a lot so I wanted to keep the chemicals balanced. In the last 2 months they have converted all of their pools that they service into salt water pools. They install the salt system and they maintain the ownership of the system but you get the benefit of having a salt water pool. That is for no additional cost to me. They don?t have to come every week now so they come out every other week. That is because the salt system does not require close observation as it did before. The salt system is more eco friendly as it?s natural and does not contain the chemicals. It?s much better for the skin. My daughter has extremely sensitive skin. She always used to complain when she got out of the pool but that does not happen any more. I really liked it. I pay $38 a month for it. They clean it if I want them to do it. The cleaning, vacuuming and all other things come up to $100 a month. The pool looks great. I saw one of their trucks when I moved here. I compared their price with different companies that my neighbors used. Poolman were the least expensive. I am extremely happy with their service. If any parts break they replace it. They have all that capabilities. I have given them the credit card that they keep filing it. They call me to authorize the charge. They have always been super professional. When we first moved in the pools needed to be drained, acid washed and the tiles needed to be cleaned. They did that for me. They are a full service. We have DE filter on the pool. The screens needed to be replaced so they did that for me.
Description of Work: We hired Poolman for weekly chemicals. They offer additional things like cleaning, vacuuming, etc.

I really like the fact that they keep my pool clean and I don't have to worry about it. I also like the fact that they send the same person every week. I have had some small issues with them but they are not important, and I'm satisfied with their service. I pay monthly.
Description of Work: They come to my house on a weekly basis to check the chemicals, empty pool baskets and brush the pool. It's always one person. My pool is quite large, I think it has 15000 gallons. It's in ground and made of concrete.

They are just great and much more reasonable than what others charge. They come weekly for pool maintenance. The pool operates and looks cleaner than when we first got the pool. $70 is for chemicals and scrubbing and back wash, etc. If the repairman cannot troubleshoot that enough then the manager comes out himself to look at the problem.
Description of Work: They have been doing our pool repairs and service for many years.

Had to cancel my weekly chemical service with them as my pool turned green towards the end of the service cycle. They claimed that the DE filter was too small and needed to be exchanged (filter had cleaned the pool just fine for many years). Switched service companies and the pool is no longer turning green

The $287 produced no noticeable improvement in the cleaning system. I called and they eventually sent a tech out who fiddled around and then said he needed to go check on some parts. In total the person made three trips and the system was still not working. Finally my brother and I took a look at it and, in about two hours, fixed it for a total cost of $30 in parts. As to the chemical situation, the pool is green and several calls to the company have produced no results except that someone came out when we were not at home and messed with the pump system so there was no flow. I have reset the system but still have a green pool. I was with my previous company for 30 years with no problem and never a green pool. They sold my contract to this company and my opinion is that they do not know how to manage their processes and, apparently, don't really know much about pool systems.
Description of Work: I have a contract for Pool Man to keep the chemicals balanced and the water clear. I also had a problem with the pool cleaning system which they were to repair. This repair was the $287 expense.

WE USED POOLMAN BECAUSE THEY WERE RECOMMENDED BY FRIENDS WHO'VE BEEN HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE. WE FOUND THEIR CHEMICAL SERVICE THE CHEAPEST OF 3 COMPANIES, PLUS OUR FRIENDS GOT A REFERRAL CREDIT. OUR SERVICES REQUIRED 3 SERVICEMEN COMING OUT 7 DIFFERENT TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. THEY WERE ALL THOROUGH, PROFESSIONAL & PATIENT IN EXPLAINING THINGS WE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND & HAVE NO PAPERS FOR. THEY DID OVERLOOK ONE PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRED A SEPARATE REPAIR, BUT CHARGED US ONLY THE EXTRA AMOUNT AS IF IT HAD BEEN BUNDLED WITH AN EARLIER REPAIR.
Description of Work: INSPECTED POOL, REPAIRED LEAKS IN PUMP, HELPED US WITH DRAINING POOL WATER & STARTING CHEMICAL SERVICE FOR POOL.

MY SPA WAS DRAINING INTO MY POOL AND NO ONE COULD FIGURE OUT WHY. AFTER GOING THROUGHT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AND REPLACING EVERYTHING THAT WAS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM, THEY FOUND THE MAIN PROBLEM THAT NO OTHER COMPANY COULD. IT WAS A CHECK VALVE. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND WHAT IT WAS GOING TO COST.
