The first problem was taping down paper for them to walk to the work area. This was a good idea but when the tape came up so did fibers from the carpet. They removed the tile from above the bath and started mudding the wall when I noticed they were getting ready to install the wrong color tile. After waiting for the owner to show up it was determined that they were shipped the wrong tile, they only got one color when it should have been two. They unloaded it into my garage a day earlier and never noticed the mistake. So we had to wait 3 or 4 days for the correct tile to come. The owner actually remeasured our areas 3 times telling me where he got his tile they don't sell by square foot they sell it some other way. (should have raised a red flag for sure) I let them set up shop in 1/2 of our garage because they couldn't haul all their equiptment back and forth every day. I had to give their car a jump the first day and then they charged their car battery off my electricity all day from then on. They got the bath area done and we had a loud banging from the shower valve that after tinkering with adjustments they told me I had too much pressure in the house. I've been in the trades all my life and told them it was a faulty valve and after calling someone they wound up changing the valve. The owner instructed the guys when tearing out the old shower to try and keep the old mesh and mud on the wall. The stuff was 30 some years old and the guys said it would take too long so they were going to rip it out and tell the owner it came off with the tiles which I'm glad they did. Then after ripping it all out they decided the wall needed more framing so I incurred an extra $500.00 charge " off the books for tax purposes" . They called me into the shower to show me the drain pipe was busted. I told them to replace it and after they left I held thier chipping chisel up to where the drain pipe was mashed and it was a perfect fit meaning they busted it while jack hammering the drain pan . I had to go buy and exchange the shower valve because the one they supplied wouldn't fit...it was too deep for the wall . Then after the shower was completed I noticed it was not draing well. After looking at it the drain was moved forward about 5 inches and also reduced in sixe from 1 5/8 " to 1 1/2". The job was not done untill sometime in December right before christmas. We only had use of half our garage and with the dumpster in half of the driveway I got a letter from our HOA that the dumpster in the driveway had exceeded the days allowed to park a dumpster at the house. I finally called in the ROC and they had them back 3 or 4 times to try and fix things...tile edges sticking out , water puddling in the shower and after a few months of this gave up and told Burd, the owner and the Inspector to get out of my house. I hope no one has to deal with the ROC because it is pretty much a wasted effort. I got no where because I didn't have conversations recorded or pictures taken. I was cleaning the house after they left every time, loaning them tools, supplying them with wood and patching up cut fingers. The installer flat out lied to the inspector about moving the drain. Constantly bad mouthed the owner to me and my wife. Told me they got paid in cash. I still have wax ring marks on my carpet from removal of the toilet. Like I mentioned before I've worked in the trades my whole life and this was one of my worst experiences ever. These are just half the problems I had with this company and it's workers. We still have to get another companyout here to fix the things that are not correct. I got a letter from the ROC that they determined I didn't give them sufficient time to correct the problems and they were clearing my complaint off their books. This job started in Oct. and I was through with the ROC and Burd in April figuring 6 months was long enough. If anyone would like to come and see the work that was done here I will gladly show them but I would really urge you to pass on this company. The website shows a warehouse and showroom on the web that does not exist. It exists but is not theirs. I also had 2 shower shelves installed and they installed the small one in the master shower and the large one in the spare bath...ROC said that was ok because I didn't specify on the contract the size of any shelves.
Description of Work: Retiled above a bathtub, Retiled a shower stall, retiled a vanity area and an entry way.
