Company took my $4500 for a leased PV solar system saying my system would be installed in approximately 4 months. Two weeks later, I receive a letter in the mail saying my system will be installed in approximately 6 months. At about 6 months I receive a letter saying they don't have the money to install my system, they don't have any anticipated time frame in which the installation will be done, and that the government is at fault for not processing rebates in a timely manner. At this point I had to go to my credit card company to do a charge back to get my initial $4500 deposit back.
Description of Work: Design and install a 6.4 kW leased (20 year prepaid lease) PV system.

I contracted with Perfect Power to install a solar system and gave them $6,500 towards that project. Five months later Perfect Power cancelled my contract but kept $1,890 to cover their "administration" expenses. I have sent several letters to Perfect Power and they have not responded. I filed suit in small claims court today and expect to file an official complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. I would not recommend this company to anyone, ever.

When they finally got to it, they finished the install in one week. The installation is clean and professional. It passed both city and utility inspections the first time. It works properly. The main problem with this company is the lady that does the scheduling. For them to open my roof to the elements and leave it that way for three days during rainy season is unacceptable. The roofer should have been there the next day. She also forgot to submit the application to my HOA. She cost me money due to her poor scheduling. All in all, I am happy with the system now but it was a huge frustration while it was happening. I will, however, look for a different company should I move and want another solar system. Well, it's a year later and they are still ignoring me. Once they get your money you are at their mercy. During the sales process I was promised follow-up preventive maintenance once per year (for the first 5 years) on my anniversary date. They were to clean the panels and check the wiring and the inverters. I contacted them a couple of weeks late and was told someone would contact me for scheduling. It's been three weeks and no call. This is a company you definitely want to stay away from!!!
Description of Work: Per the contract, I took out a loan for the cost of the system minus the utility rebate. The loan was $23,000. I disbursed the loan checks to them in two payments. The first payment was to build the infrastucture (brackets, rails, electric wiring, etc.) and the second payment to order the solar panels. The third payment is the utility rebate paid directly to them. Initial problem: I gave them the first check for $9k and they tore up my roof to install the brackets (removed half of the tiles). Since they did not coordinate with a roofer, my roof was left open for three days in our rainy season. When pressed, they gave me a "tentative" date for the roofer. Second Issue: When the roofer arrived, they needed to get into my attic. This was not coordinated so I was called at work to come home and let them in. I am an hourly worker and lost $150 that day due to their poor scheduling. Third issue: They forgot to submit plans to my home owner's association so they halted work after installing the brackets. Fourth Issue: After receiving HOA approval they told me they couldn't start work because the utility had waitlisted my rebate. They told me that I could take over financial responsibility for the $14,400 rebate and they would resume work. Fifrth issue: I signed the paperwork taking responsibility for the rebate. They then gave me lame excuses as to why they couldn't start work. One excuse was that they had to halt work on three other projects. I asked them why that didn't free-up workers and received no reply. Sixth problem: On April 1st the utility approved my rebate... along with others. Now they have me on a wait list behind other customers that were sold prior to me. This is understandable but I was told none of this. I am now responsible for the utility rebate and if they drag their feet past October 1st it will expire. Now they want the second check ($14,000) before returning to work. They still haven't completed the infrastructure. The bottom line is that they promised me a system up and running before summer. At this point I have a "tentative" start date of "early June". I have no confidence that I will be generating electricity before September. I still have an electric bill and now I have a $205/month solar loan that I've started paying on. All the way along, the woman that does the scheduling gives me weekly calls and emails telling me how "they want to work with me". All the while they drag their feet and do only what benefits them. The contract was laden with clauses about using mediation and arbitration. I now understand why. This process has been nothing but an extreme frustration. Knowing what I know now, I would have never bought from this vendor.
