When I called Dan for an estimate on replacing the tile in swimming pool, we scheduled an appointment for him to look at the pool.He called to reschedule when something required his immediate attention elsewhere. When he did come, he brought one one of his employees to help with the measurement. He told me that the employee would return with samples and that he would give me the price when we made a selection. The samples included two beautiful tiles that we selected. His estimate was about $1000 less than the other one I had received, so we sighed a contract. The work was scheduled and completed in a timely manner and we are very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Many of the old tiles around the top of our swimming pool had fallen off and needed to be replaced. In addition the cool deck topping was cracked in several places. On the referral of my daughter and son-in-law, we contacted Dan Gallagher, the owner of Pearl Pools. He and one of his employees came to look at and measure our pool to give us an estimate. He e-mailed us his estimate, which was lower than the other estimate I had. Sometime later his employee brought us a big box of tile samples for us to choose from. We made our selection and scheduled the installation. The work was done in a timely fashion. When we inspected the work, we saw that some drops of the grout had been splattered on the Pebble Tech steps. We notified Dan and he had his employees come back to remove them. Our pool now looks better than ever!!

Dan Gallagher also does business as Greenday Pool Care. I entered into a contract with him during June of last year. Things were going fine until Dan sent a sub-contractor out to change the sand in our sand filter. The gentleman who showed up, broke the bolts and we were told that we needed a new unit. My wife asked the guy to give us a bid, told him that we were going to get other bids, and that we would get back to him with our lowest quote if he wanted to match it. He dropped off a bunch of sand before attempting to remove the old sand. He also gave us a bid. We received 2 lower bids, but I contacted Dan's subcontractor's wife in an effort to give him the business since he had already been out to our home. I FAX'd the wife the lowest bid, which was almost $200 lower. She told me that she would check with her husband and call me back. She did and said, "He doesn't match other bids, but will take $50 off." I told her that I would be having someone else do the job. The next interaction with Dan was when he rang our doorbell until my sick wife finally got out of bed to answer the door. Dan was upset that we didn't go with his guy. He said, "I referred him. Don't you trust my recommendation?" My wife tried to explain that, in today's economy, anyone who doesn't check prices, is not very smart. Dan left in a huff and said that he would talk to me. The next thing I hear is that Dan wants to charge us $95 to pick up the sand that his sub left. I sent Dan an email telling him that I would like to continue using him but that I was not willing to pay to have the sand picked up. And that if Dan picked up the sand at no cost, we would continue as before. After agreeing to what I had asked for, Dan canceled our service, citing, among other things, that one of the benefits of having your own business was choosing who to do business with. In that same email, Dan said that the account was paid in full. However, after that, I received numerous emails from Dan threatening to take me to small claims court unless I paid $75 that he said was due. I asked for the first date of service, a reconciliation, and a copy of the contract. Dan was as abrasive in his emails as he was to my wife. Ultimately he dropped off copies of what I requested. When I pointed out that he owed me one month service for a referral to a neighbor (Who is not happy with Dan's attitude or personality.) Dan sent me back a final email wherein he stated, and I quote, "why not try to be a little gracious instead of just a penny pinching miser. You will find in life greater rewards." That's what everyone needs, a pool guy who not only acts like a jerk, but is going to lecture me when HE was in the wrong. No wonder his overall rating is "D," and heading lower. Dan has poor people skills and is clueless about running a business.
Description of Work: Dan Gallagher, doing business as GreenDay Pool Care and Pearl Pools, was our pool guy for 11 months. At the end of that period , he cancelled the service agreement.

It just wasn't managed properly and was delayed more than expected. They had to resurface the pool twice and it had to been drained in between the resurfacing.
Description of Work: They redid our pool. New surface and outside of pool. New equipment and plumbing.

From the beginning they were unreliable. They were suppose to get a pump to drain the pool, which he had me call someone else who never responded. When they were suppose to be here, no one showed up and no one checked to make sure some one was there. Once they finally sent out a supervisor, he would say "that is just the way it is." When they were done, they had not replaced some of the components of the cleaning system, I called to tell them and I never heard back until I called the Registar of Contractors. They have come out to fix the problems, but have not yet to a satisfactory level in regards to the work and more importantly customer service.
Description of Work: They resurfaced my plaster lined pool and spa.
