OneGuard Home Warranties

Description of Work: For the last 18 months, I have had OneGuard's home warranties on my primary residence and a second home we rent out. The warranties we have are basically their cadillac coverage packages plus some fairly high priced additional coverages for things like salt-water swimming pools. I pay roughly $1100 / year for each home with a per service call fee of $59. Across both homes we've had the following service calls completed: gas hot water heater replaced, A/C compressor replaced, fridge serviced, dishwasher serviced, pool salt water chlorinator replaced, pool pump serviced, yard irrigation system leak fixed, etc, etc. | |In all cases they've been very responsive. Emergency service (eg a sewer backup on Christmas Eve afternoon) are handled within the hour. Non-critical services are typically provided within 2 - 3 days and are scheduled directly with OneGuard's subcontractors. Subcontractors vary by job type, but in all cases, we've been happy with services provided. | |Despite having a couple high priced service calls, we've never had any need to fight / argue with OneGuard over coverage. Note that they did add a $4/mn premium on one of my plans when we signed up for a 2nd year because of the # calls. Even with this extra adder, it's still a service that we plan to continue to use.

Description of Work: I'very had this home warranty company for 2 years. We have used them for a/c check ups, dishwasher repairs, and landscaping maintence. One Guard has been very responsive with every claim I have put in. I have been very happy with all the companies they have sent out to complete the work on our house. Everybody has arrived promptly, been knowledgeable in their field, and pleasant to work with. For a yearly price of $395, I have everything I wanted covered for a $59 copay.

Description of Work: This is a home warranty company, so this review is a combination of factors including the home warranty company selected providers...since they select them. I would rate One Guard's punctuality an "A" as they immediately assign a provider to perform service...but generally they have providers that are cutting corners and maxed out on volume, so their punctuality is generally poor. Quality of work is generally poor as well. If you look at reviews on BBB, Yelp or other sources, One Guard providers are rated D or F. In addition, One Guard encourages poor quality - on two occasions where an AC leak was known, One Guard would only authorize stop leak in the system rather than fix/replace the leaking component. The provider admitted that unless the leak is extremely small, the stop leak doesn't work. Also having multiple contacts with home warranty contractors and others that don't accept home warranty contracts, they both admit it is a tiered industry: The highly rated contractors don't work with home warranty companies, and the poorly rated contractors are the only ones that do. If you know this when you buy a home warranty your expectations will be accurate.

Description of Work: Replaced stopper assembly in master bath sink.

Description of Work: Our air conditioner failed last week. The contractor that was assigned to the diagnosis and repair has been pitiful. I have had to personally facilitate communications between OneGuard and the contractor, American Building Services, the entire time. The contractor failed to properly notate the make/model of the A/C unit, so I had to go home over my lunch hour and take photos and pass along the information so that the parts could be ordered and an installation date set up. OneGuard is not responsive, their processes are inefficient and their qualification of vendors is suspect at best.

Description of Work: Called me to set up an appoinment. Called 30 min before appointment as a reminder. Checked my watersoftener and made necessary adjustments. Advised me on watersoftener operations. Left after I was assured that the job was completed.
