Description of Work: The services that they provide are very specific and limited. I had my ac serviced and that went well, but found out later I could have had the same work done through a special spring offer by my electric provider that would have been cheaper than the $59 fee from One Guard. A repair call for a ceiling fan ended up being a waste of $59 because they don't cover the light portion of the fan. Don't know if I will bother with them again.

Description of Work: I've had a home warranty with OneGuard for about a year without using it. Then our hot water heater goes out on a Sunday when we have company in town. They schedule a plumber to come out on Wednesday (our company has left by then). The First guy is there about 10 minutes and says he has to order a part but it should be in by the end of the week (Wednesday to Friday?). I call OneGuard and the call taker wants me to believe that there is no supervisor that they can transfer me to but they will leave a message. I leave my cell number. That night, while my wife and I are at dinner, the lady calls our house and leaves a message about getting my message but that she sees now that someone came out that day and has fixed the problem (WRONG). I called this lady daily for the rest of the time this deal is going on and she has yet to answer my calls or call me back. Friday morning I call the plumbing office and the lady I get can't find an order for the part but says she will continue to look and call me back. At 4:30 that afternoon I haven't heard from her so I call them. After some scrambling I get a woman who swears she ordered the part while the plumber was still at the house and says it could take up to 3 weeks, and says she has told the plumber before that it takes up to 3 weeks. I end up talking to the boss and he promises to get the part installed as soon as it comes in. That next Wednesday we have more company come to town so now we've had two sets out out of town guest and no hot water. On Friday a plumber shows up with part in hand and states that didn't fix the problem but says he will go get other parts (interesting that the first part has to be ordered but he can just go get other parts for the same water heater). He gets back, does every thing he can but the water heater still doesn't work. He calls OneGuard but they won't authorize him to replace the water heater they have to have a second opinion but we are oh so fortunate that they have another company that can come the next day (Saturday). OneGuard says we have to be open during a 4 hour window but the plumbing company says it's an 8 hour window. Any by the way, once again I'm begging, threatening, and screaming for the call taker to let me talk to a supervisor but they can't do that. They do have a supervisor call me back, not the one that I've been calling daily for 10 days, but a supervisor. Interestingly enough, at the end of our call when she is telling me all the people that I can call the next day if I need help she includes the call taker who couldn't transfer me to who and says that he already knows that I may call. So how can she communicate to him during our call but he can't communicate to her or transfer me to her? Obviously he can but their policy is that he can't. Anyway, the next day when the plumber finally comes he determines that we need a new water heater, surprise. So he and his company get to put in the new water heater and the company I've been dealing with for one day short of two weeks gets squat. Well, I'm sure they get something but they don't get the primary job. Yeah, in the end I got a new water heater but at no point did I get anything near what I consider customer service and it took two weeks of cold showers or showering elsewhere to get it done.

Description of Work: I was with another Home Warranty provider for a number of years and recently switched to One Guard. I switched because their price was better and they provided additional services that I was interested in using. I have had occasion to call them for Warranty Service on my heating and A/C, and was pleased with the service provided. I have also used their yard trimming service and their sprinkler system service and was pleased on both occasions. Their service fee is reasonable and the service is good!

Description of Work: The home warranty company sent a sub contractor, Larson A/C, to repair my ac unit that was not working. The Larson representative called me immediately after receiving the request and set up an appointment for that afternoon. The service person was efficient, knowledgeable and fixed the unit. Description of Work: I contacted Service One to replace a thermostat wire to the compressor that had been accidentally cut by our landscaper. I put through an on-line request, explaining the situation. They scheduled a company to come out. When the service person arrived, they said the situation wasn't covered by the home warranty and it would cost approximately $700-$800 just to replace the one low-voltage wire. Service One called while they were here to explain it wasn't a covered item because it wasn't normal wear and tear. | |I was concerned that I wasn't told this either at Service One's level before scheduling the contractor, or at the contractor's level. I specifically indicated that the thermostat wire had been left outside in the open the last time a contractor was out and that it had been accidentally cut. If they had just read my description of what happened, they could have said it was not a covered item when they called. Or the contractor could have also read what the problem was, and advised the same. | |I sent an e-mail back to Service One on the same date they were here requesting a refund of the $59 service fee because of the above, and as of this date have received no response whatsoever. | |I had a similar problem about three years ago with a minor plumbing problem when I was told they would have to tear up all the tile in my bathroom to fix the issue, and the tile wasn't covered. I told them I would not do that because it would be impossible to match the tile again and it was also on the walls. They said they'd give me the amount that they would pay the contractor if I wanted to find someone else. I did find someone else who was able to fix the problem, yet Service One did not follow through and send me a check. | |I have been with Service One for over 10 years, but will start looking at other home warranty companies.

Description of Work: I called to report that my ac was not cooling. I paid a $69 service fee per my home warranty with One Guard and the repairman was out the next morning. One Guard is always very polite, professional, and willing to help. We've been with them for four years, and wouldn't even consider another Home Warranty group. They also use really good companies in Houston.
