I called about a brown out in my townhouse (no heater on the coldest day of December!) and I found out that there had been a snafu with my renewal (my fault). The rep quickly resolved it so that I had no lapse in coverage, and no hassle. She set up the service call with one of their associated providers, sent me all the details via email, and the electrician (BW Electric) contacted me inside of an hour. He replaced two fuses, and then had to make a second trip out, and then we needed to have someone look at our heater system. One Guard set that up for us, too, and since it was a follow up to the original problem, didn't charge me for another service call. Communication was great, and their providers were super prompt and professional.
Description of Work: Set up service calls with providers to fix electrical issue. (Cost is for service call. Warranty is about $50 a month.)

On time and pleasant and knowledgeable. After problem was diagnosed the repairman went to supply store to get the needed part returned within a few minutes and made the repair. Very nice company to work with and I would use again.

We've used OneGuard for many years, and have always found them and their subcontractors (with only two exceptions over the years) fair, fast, convenient and excellent quality. We've had hot water heaters replaced within 24 hours, air conditioning units fixed as quickly, and other services performed efficiently and professionally. They even found and fixed a problem with an AC unit that several other AC companies could not figure out. The cost keeps increasing, and coverage seems to get a little skimpier each year, but the peace of mind and consistently high quality service is wonderful. We recommend them.

We chosee to have the cooktop upgraded. OneGuard contacted a local distributer, and found the model we requested at a discount. We will only pay the difference between a model comparable to what we had and the upgrade, and it will include installation which is to happen shortly. Although I would prefer that things not break, I'm very glad we have this warranty. The cost listed above includes $59 each for the two service calls (the oven and the cooktop) and the difference we're paying for the upgrade.
Description of Work: We received our home warranty from OneGuard when we purchased our home (provided by preious homeowner at closing). A few weeks later we had problems with the oven. We contacted OneGuard, and they set us up with a local appliance repair company. The technician was prompt, knowledgegable and courteous. He determined that the lower heating element was out, found and ordered the part, and returned a couple of days later to install it. A few weeks after that, the cooktop went out, and we called OneGuard again. We requested the same repair company and technician. This time the parts were not available as the unit was too old. OneGuard gave us several options.

Service One always answers the phone, never on hold, takes my information and provides me with a name for who they are going to send out to take care of my problem. I have never had to wait more than a day for a call back.

Provider showed up exactly on time Provider called one hour before arriving Provider was able to repair a problem we had experienced on and off for over a year. Provider cleaned up prior to his departure. He reviewed all the problems with the drain and explained how we could do a better job of maintaining the drain.

All of the contractors they sent to the house were professional and took care of the problems we were having (ac/washing machine/plumbing). We were impressed until they decided not to renew our policy. We had chose the "cashout" option on both of the major repairs and had sent them receipts showing we had purchased new items within a week or two after the check being issued. Hoping they are being honest about not serving the San Antonio area any longer - I assumed the whole purpose of a home warranty is to cover major appliances when they fail. Would use them again in the future if they "covered" the San Antonio area.
Description of Work: Overall we were extremely please with One Guard Home Warranties, however after our washing machine went out and our a/c unit we were sent a letter stating they no longer service the Helotes/San Antonio areas. Furthermore, we would be unable to renew our contract after the period was over.

We had a garage door spring issue over the weekend, 12/6/14 to be exact. It seems that they offer 24 hour services, but not true. We contacted customer service that afternoon, was told that it would be Monday before we could have the door repaired, (we were not able to open the door manually on a Saturday.. two minor children at home). We had to make calls on our own to find a repair company AZ Garage Door Services, that agreed to come out on Sunday to do the repairs. One guard calls on Sunday afternoon to let us know that service would be out to do the repair (no courtesy calls done on that Saturday to state that this was in the works). Needless to say, we will not be reimbursed for the $410 spent on this service. They state that they have 24 hour service, buyer beware. Not true. We are not only insuring the current home, but also the rental home in AZ as well. We have been customers for 9 years for both homes. We are taking our business elsewhere.

We have always been happy with the service. It has been scheduled promptly, even if they needed to order parts and come back it was as quick as you'd expect it to be. The call I received an appointment call the same day as my request. The person I spoke to was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The appointment was made for less than a week later (weekend counted). This has been the case each time I've needed and appointment. The treatment necessary was quite small. The contractor, Professional was very personable and professional. The work was done with a minimum of mess, which was cleaned up. He had quite a lot of information on the subject, which was very reassuring to me. He also took the time to do an inspection, which I did not expect. I am quite happy with One Guard's choice of contractor. They have always taken good care of me.

Excellent. Would highly recommend One Guard and for this event, their contractor Cool Blew. Excellent. The guy Cool Blew Plumbing sent was way overly cautious not to leave any trace that he was here. He even wore Operating Room covers for his shoes before he entered the house. He also took photos of a few fingerprints on the ceiling door to the attic in the garage, and had me sign a paper certifying that they were there before he started. (Like I said, a bit on the crazy side to not leave a mess!) He checked out the system thoroughly and had the part needed to repair one of the blowers/air handlers.

The warrantee company sent me a notification that the service order had been dispatched. The convenient online system gave me all the information on who they dispatched to including phone number. I called the plumbing company and they scheduled an appointment in 2 days which was great. The repair guy called me in advance, came on time and fixed the problem in 25 minutes. there was no mess and he explained to me how and why he replaced nonfunctional parts. He also explained how a hot water heater works. I always ask the repair guys what they think about the warrantee company (One Guard) and without fail, they tell me One Guard is the best company to work w/ in the area. I think the repair person's rating is important because the repair guy is on the front line and truly wants to fix the problem. They have given me examples of how some warrantee companies tell them to do whatever they need to do to get out of replacing or repairing. I find exactly the opposite w/ One Guard. I have been w/ One Guard since I purchased my home and I have never been disappointed w/ their service. They have replaced my pool hot water heater, my entire electrical panel and have repaired many malfunctioning parts on my pool filtering system. They recently came out and fixed the door handle on my dishwasher. I actually had called them to fix my dishwasher motor which turned out to be working fine. But here's the thing, while they were there they fixed the handle on the door to my dishwasher and I didn't even ask them to do that. This might sound like a simple task but the handle on a dishwasher has electrical components and is quite elaborate. Not and easy fix nor was it cheap. They handle part itself was expensive. Finally, and here's my biggest reason why I like warrantee companies in general and One Guard in particular: - One Guard or any company like One Guard has one goal. To get the nonfunctional device functioning again as cheaply as possible - The service tech must analyze the problem and call One Guard to ask for permission to repair. The service department at One Guard has very technical folks too. So when the on site service repair guy says that part XYZ id broken and needs repair, the One Guard service department guy is in a much better position to agree or disagree than I am. I am not technical so I can't tell when I'm getting oversold. It's like I have a whole team of technical folks behind me making sure I only pay for what I need to repair the job. Now you might say that One Guard is trying to get away w/ spending as little as possible to FIX my problem and I would agree w/ you. That's the point. You never get oversold by an untrustworthy repair guy. And guess what .... One Guard always gets it fixed. You may say, "Well most service repair companies are trustworthy or they wouldn't be in business." And I say to you, "Wow that's a whole other conversation." My advise, buy the insurance and sleep well at night knowing One Guard will fix your problem in the cheapest way possible :) Good Shopping.

The provider sent out a vendor to look at my AC that had stopped working. The vendor stated that we needed a new compressor. We heard nothing from them for a week until we called back when they sent out another technician. At this time they made excuses why they were not going to cover the replacement on the compressor. They said it was due to lack of maintenance. We have receipts showing where maintenance had been done on the unit in Spring. They then said that they were going to suspend coverage on the warranty for the AC until I paid for a new compressor and sent them a receipt showing where the work had been conducted. I have since had Toms Mechanical, a very reputable HVAC company in the DFW metroplex, come out on a diagnostic visit. The tech stated that it was not a lack of maintenance on the unit but old age that had lead to the failure of the compressor. I have tried to speak with their regional sales person and her assistant and both have failed to return my calls. One Guard are a bunch of crooks and I will be not be renewing any of my warranties with them.

The claim for the air conditioning system is not covered under the OneGuard service agreement due to lack of maintenance. Please find the specific timeline of events with respect to the claim and what led to our ultimate decision: On October 16, 2014, the tenant that lives at the property requested to create a claim for service, advising OneGuard the unit was continually running and the electric bills were high. Upon assessment, the licensed service contractor that was dispatched to the home advised OneGuard the compressor was grounded. In order to perform a full diagnosis, the technician needed access to the breaker. The tenant agreed to create access and the contractor would return to the property once this was done. On October 21, 2014, the contractor advised OneGuard they left several messages for the tenant to make arrangements to return to the property and did not receive a call back. OneGuard also attempted to call the homeowner to ensure follow up. On October 24, 2014, access was provided. The contractor returned to the property and provided OneGuard with the following diagnosis: The breaker was tripped and is undersized for the unit. It is a 30 AMP breaker and should be 45 AMP. The outdoor unit is dirty and the condenser coils are restricted and 100% blocked on the the back side of the unit with plant vegetation, dirt, and debris, causing lack of airflow and stress on the equipment and resulting in the failure of the compressor. Additionally, the indoor evaporator coil and blower wheel are extremely dirty, and there is no air filter in the system. The service technician forwarded several pictures to OneGuard to demonstrate his findings, advising the breakdown was due to lack of maintenance. OneGuard’s Authorization team analyzed all the information: The professional diagnosis, the current condition of the unit, and the pictures. Please note, a claim was previously denied for this property in June 2014, due to lack of maintenance. Upon placing the most recent claim for service, the tenant advised OneGuard the maintenance issues were addressed. On October 24, 2014, the Authorization representative left a voice mail and sent an accompanying e-mail for the homeowner to advise the claim was not covered. The homeowner disputed OneGuard’s decision and the Authorization team performed a final review to ensure accuracy, and the decision was firm. Please note, the service has not been suspended. However, an exclusion has been placed on the air conditioning system and OneGuard has requested for the homeowner to provide documentation to show proper repairs have been made by a qualified tradesman once they are performed. In closing, OneGuard Home Warranties has been in business for over 20 years. We are an an honorable company and pride ourselves on always doing the right thing. The claim is not covered under the service agreement due to lack of maintenance of the air conditioning system.
