MOON VALLEY NURSERY

Very poorly. Charged $5,000 for removal of 11 small palms and bushes, $1000 to fertilize, $6000 for 44 small plants, $11,000 total. final product looked terrible, planters around pool ugly, no irrigation, weeds left in planters, flags left, very ugly by Sean Lasjunas who claimed to be an expert landscape designer. Poor response from quality department and manager.

We gave this vendor a 2nd chance and glad we did. The service we received this time around was exceptional. The salesman was knowledgeable about the products and made suggestions . The trees were planted on schedule and they called a month later to make sure everything was ok.

My first red flag should have been that they want the entire payment upfront. Well then there is no urgency whatsoever to get the job done. The landscape designers are not designers--they are salesmen. We never once saw a landscape drawing of where exactly lights or plants were going. There was fighting and badmouthing their other coworkers in front of me--always blaming the other guy. They damaged my already working sprinkler system in various areas and then tried to give me a quote for fixing them! The in ground tree lights installed the previous week were damaged when putting down the sod and then did not work. I decided to itemize the invoices and found overcharges for plants we never ordered and double charges for the same items. They had to reimburse me $550 saying it was "overlooked". Each crew that showed up was completely confused as what to do. There is absolutely no communication between crews so things drag on and on because they "didn't bring the right supplies". They do not call back or email back promptly. They have one girl who seems to be the peacemaker and calls apologizing but still things drag on with no communication about when the crew is coming back to fix everything. Mark, the manager came out finally and things were scheduled to be finished the following week. Although he was accommodating, I felt he was a little condescending to me. They did come the following week to plant the remaining plants and tree and fix the broken lights. The tree they brought was a joke--it was a stick with about 15 leaves on it. I told them not to plant it and then called to have them just cancel the tree--one of the big reasons we hired them in the first place! We were so disgusted by then and just want another company to come and plant the tree. It is misleading that this company has an A+ on BBB website which I just can't believe is the same company! The Moon Valley website looks professional and it sure did fool me. We will never hire this company again and will tell all of our friends how unprofessional they are. After 2+ months of the runaround and a yard that doesn't really even look like anything was done after spending sooo much money we have had it. NEVER use this company! You will be very sorry.

From start to finish, the job was done very well and we couldn't be happier. We asked Christi and Brent to come to the house and help us design new front landscaping. They had great ideas and delivered their proposal within a day. We went out for a competitive bid and found that the prices that Moon Valley offered were in line with their competition, and their competition did not offer design services. We made an appointment to go to the nursery and choose the specific trees and shrubs, and all were delivered exactly as planned, on time. Scott led the installation team which included a crane to position the largest tree that we purchased. His group was professional, hard working and very conscientious not to damage any of the existing landscape. When a pipe was accidentally struck, it was repaired immediately and without my even noticing. It has been several weeks since the initial installation, and all of the trees and plants have done very well. New growth is coming out on everything, no transplant shock appears to have occurred. We are extremely happy with the service and product, and we have called them back to design a plan for our backyard which I expect will work out just as well.

TERRIBLE from start to finish. DISHONEST. I hand picked plants at the nursery and scheduled a plant date. They didn't come to mark the planting flags on two different scheduled appointments. They planted smaller versions of what I selected and paid for. They deny this, but I just want them off my property.

Excellent service in helping pick out the right trees. Prompt and expert planting. They also provided several visits to my home to provide advice on watering to keep the new trees alive through the Summer.

I don't even no where to start. From bad designs, to tension between coworkers, people not showing up at least 5 times, showing up when they aren't supposed to, forgetting plants, not ordering flagstones, causing more leaks in my irrigation, shorting out my yard lighting, no invoice for changes, and to top p it off no followup after dropping 6k. This could well be the biggest joke of a company I have ever run across. Really sad back in the day moon valley was very good. I guess with greed and expansion they forgot their roots and what's important for long term success.

Several of my plants died right away. It was a fight to get them to come do anything. They would say that they were coming out but never would. I finally put in a complaint with them on the better business bureau and they finally came out and fixed it.

My husband visited the location on Tatum, and spoke with a person we were told was "in charge." He took my contact information, and said he would call me the next day to set an appointment for an estimate. He never called, even after I had left two voicemails and spoke with someone else at that location. On my last voicemail, I said that it would be "my last attempt." Did that get a reaction? Nope? It's too bad. My neighbor across the street suggested that I contact this person in particular.

The experience has been good. Their prices are expensive for their plants. That is kind of a downside.

We bought a ficus tree which they told me would be garanteed, I asked about frost and was told we garantee our trees. I also bought many other plants. They definitely mislead you when purchasing a ficus tree. When it died I was told we don't garantee against frost sorry nothing we can do. I never would have bought it if they hadn't promised me they garantee these trees. The men that planted the tree and plants were very nice and were on time. We bought about 10 plants and only one is left. I'm sorry we never checked Angie's list before we went there. It looks like they don't have a good reputation. From what I can tell they don't guarantee anything. We used the Moon Valley Nursery in Chandler.

Our intention when we went was not to buy ficus as they have a tendency to freeze in the winter, we have one already that did and we lost all our leaves and privacy. We commented when we were looking that their ficus didn't freeze and the sales rep that helped us told us that they were sprayed with a product called cloud cover which prevents freezing and if we did this twice a year ours would not freeze. We believed her and purchased 2 ficus trees to be planted next to our existing tree. When they were delivered the crew that delivered them saw our existing Ficus and commented that they always freeze. I mentioned that we would be using cloud cover from now on and he told me it doesn't work, that the nursery also uses fans and smudge pots I called the nursery and spoke to Sal, I believe he is the manager and he told me that they use cloud cover but they also use smudge pots and fans. I was very upset as these tress will provide no privacy if the leaves are gone. I asked him what he was going to do for me and there was no offer to remove the trees or compensate us in any way. That evening we noticed that our landscape lighting was also not working and I called Moon Valley and asked them to come out and fix what they broke. The crew that delivered the trees came back and said they couldn't find anything wrong and they left. I called my landscaper who dug up the lines and found a cut where the trees were planted. He charged me to fix it and I sent Moon Valley the bill and asked for compensation. Its been a month and they have not compensated me or contacted me. I consider this very bad service. They were dishonest when they sold us the trees and they did not stand behind their installation work. I will never buy from them again update: they finally sent the check for cutting our electrical line. They called the day after this post was made.

I bought two trees and had them plant them in the front yard. One of the trees was not the one I bought. When they planted them, they began to die. I was ready for this and I had my landscaper replant and replace. I had this experience before 4 years ago with MVN. I bought 7 trees and that winter I lost 6 to the freezing. They have a guarantee on their trees but they were not willing to recognize it because it was close to the year end date of purchase. They argued with me over the phone and when I went down there in person

I used Moon Valley twice. The first time was for a purchase of 8 trees back in April 2009. Moon Valley was running their special of buy one tree get the second tree free. We bought a mix of trees including dwarf citrus. The staff was very knowledgeable and delivery was the same price regardless of the number of tree we ordered. The crew arrived on time and put the trees in my backyard for planting. The second purchase was in July 2009. Moon Valley was closing their Thunderbird location in Glendale. The location was closing down and we bought trees at 70% 80% and 90% off their regular price. I could not believe the deals we got....made me wish we would have held off our April purchases until then! Delivery was on time and they placed each tree in front of the holes that we had dug. One thing I learned.....these folks will negotiate on the prices which they did on both of our visits to their nursery.

They set up a time to deliver and plant the trees. Came out with one tree that was not correct and the others were. Planted the correct ones and brought out the other the next day and planted it. They we a little messy but no big deal. The trees are doing great and the price was good, too.

PROBABLY THE BEST NURSERY IN THE VALLEY. GREAT PLANT AND TREE SELECTION. THE STAFF IS KNOWLEDGEABLE AND CAN BE A GREAT HELP.

SALESMAN/DESIGNER WAS VERY GOOD (GRANT). HE SPENT A LOT OF TIME WITH US PICKING OUT PLANTS AND DESIGNING THE BACKYARD TO FIT OUR NEEDS. WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PLANTING SERVICE OF MOON VALLEY. ORDER WAS 3-4 WEEKS LATE AND NOT ALL THE TREES ARRIVED. FINAL TREES ARRIVED A MONTH AFTER THE FIRST PLANTING. PLANTERS DID FOLLOW THE PLAN AND I HAD THEM DIG THEM UP AND REPLANT THEM IN THE CORRECT LOCATIONS. ALSO, BROKE MULTIPLE UNDERGROUND SPRINKLER PIPES WHEN PLANTING. SOME PLANTS WERE THE WRONG ONES. MOON VALLEY WAS GOOD ABOUT REPLACING THESE PLANTS WITH THE CORRECT ONES AND REPLACING THE PLANTS WHICH DIED IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS (WHICH WERE A FEW OF THE SMALLER 5 GALLON ONES). WOULD PROBABLY USE THEM AGAIN BUT I'D TRY AND PICK A SLOWER PART OF THE YEAR.

WHEN I CALLED ON THE DAY OF DELIVERY, THEY GAVE ME A TIME FRAME OF WHEN THE TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE AND THEY WERE RIGHT ON SCHEDULE. FIVE MEN CAME AND THEY PUT 2 ON EACH TREE (+1 BOSS) AND PLANTED THOSE TREES EXACTLY WHERE WE HAD TOLD THEM AND WERE VERY FAST! THEY DID THE INITIAL WATERING AND ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS THOROUGHLY. THE TREES ARE THRIVING AND LOOK GREAT NOW - 6 MONTHS LATER. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE A BIT HIGH PRICED, THEY ARE QUALITY TREES AND WE HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY.

THEY WERE THE CHEAPEST OF THE OTHER BIDS THAT I HAD RECIEVED. THEY ALSO COULD COME OUT A LOT SOONER THAN OTHER COMPANIES I HAD TALKED TO. THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE.

MOON VALLEY NURSERIES CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND DID A NICE JOB PLANTING SEVERAL TREES AND ABOUT 20 SHRUBS. THE WORK WAS NEAT AND THEY WERE IN AND OUT IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. I WOULD GO BACK TO MOON VALLEY NURSERIES FOR ANY FUTURE TREES OR SHRUBS I NEED.

THIS COMPANY REALLY PRIDES ITSELF IN QUALITY. THE STAFF WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON WHAT KIND OF PLANT WOULD GROW WELL BASED ON THE ENVIRONMENT OF MY HOUSE. ALSO, THEY GAVE ME DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CARE FOR MY PLANTS IN THE FUTURE. WHEN ONE OF THE TREES DIED, THEY RETURNED TO MY HOME AND REPLACED IT.

WERE VERY NICE & SHOWED UP ON TIME. WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO A FRIEND. GREAT PRICE ON LARGE TREES.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB PLANTING OUR TREES, AND REPLACED ONE THAT DIED FOR FREE UNDER THEIR WARRENTY.

MOON VALLEY NURSERY HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY HELPFUL FROM THE MOMENT YOU WALK ON THEIR LOT BY GIVING ADVICE, MAKING SUGGESTIONS, CARRYING PURCHASES TO YOUR VEHICLE. THEY HAVE A GREAT INVENTORY OF EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR LANDSCAPING AS WELL AS SEASONAL ITEMS.

I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR GUARANTEE. ONE OF THE PALMS THAT I PAID NEARLY $300 FOR DIED AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE IT AS THEY HAD GUARANTEED THEY WOULD. THEY MADE AN EXCUSE THAT THE TREE HAD A FUNGUS, WHICH DID NOT MAKE SINCE BECAUSE NONE OF MY OTHER TREES DIED, JUST ONE, AND THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT.
