They delivered the entertainment center free of scratches. The pieces for the entertainment center were carefully wrapped. They were polite and professional. My friend was very impressed that they plan in hiring Metro Movers when they move in the near future.

Description of Work: We used Metro Movers over 17 years ago to move into our new home. We had mixed reviews but overall the stressful move went well. Here we are 18 years later and we are moving again! Scott (owner) called me the SECOND my house went on the status of "sale pending" and said he would send me a yellow post card. He was the only person to call me and send me anything. I called him back weeks later and scheduled our move. I did comparison price shopping and Metro was very affordable! I am shocked to read the negative reviews because I never experienced anything like those other people. We moved a 3000 square foot home with 3 men and one truck! Al, Kenny and Rafael were on time, courteous, called me to inform me of their arrival, professional, clean cut and amazing movers! You can tell they had been doing this for a while. They treated my stuff like it was theirs! They truly cared for my household items and like tetris game packed that truck full! Nothing was broken, damaged and all arrived in perfect condition. They packed the house in 2 hours! When we arrived to the new home, they did a walk through, inspected the best way to move in and went to town! In less than 90 minutes, the entire truck was unpacked and everything was put where I wanted it. They didn't break or damage anything! It was truly amazing and such a smooth process! I am grateful for the experience! In ONE YEAR, we are moving again to our new build and without a doubt I will call them again. I will specifically request Al, Kenny and Rafael and pray that Scott does everything he can to retain them! They truly are professionals! The women in the office were also very patient as I called several times with questions. They were very helpful and prepared me for what to expect! Thank you Metro Movers for a great experience! I would highly recommend!!

Description of Work: They came and packed up my Condo, and then came back a week later to do the actual move. I liked they they assigned the same crew for both jobs. Excellent workers, friendly and helpful during what can be a stressful time. Excellent job!!

Description of Work: Metro Movers moved our 2100 sq ft home approximately 40 miles. The crew was on time and started work right away. My only complaint with the crew was one of the three guys was completely careless. He dropped a couple pieces of furniture because he was trying to carry too much. The furniture was damaged but the company sent someone over to repair it. Obviously, it made it look better but far from the "like new" condition it was in. Especially because the furniture was built to last and wasn't something from Ikea. My mother also overheard this guy say he thinks he tore our couch but wasn't going to say anything. I check the couch and the only tear was something that was already there - but this guy was going to try and hide it from me! |The foreman for our team was really nice, honest, and got the job done. He and the 2nd guy were great. It was the careless one that I had to keep an eye on. |Oh, there was also miscommunication about moving our safe that was dealt with in a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL manner. We have a safe that is maybe a couple hundred pounds. We've moved it easily using a dolly and larger truck (2 men) prior to this move. We told them this and they initially told us we wouldn't have to pay extra to move the safe. They then came back and tried to charge us. I can't remember the price but I do know that it was dealt with in a very unprofessional manner and had we not been in a bind and stuck with losing a deposit, we would not have used the company at all. |So, if you use them, keep an eye out on the movers and definitely keep lines of communication CLEAR.

Thank you for your review. We do apologize that there was a scratch to the crib onsite. The pictures we received did show that the repair was successful and we never heard otherwise from you, so if it was not done appropriately, this is the first we've heard of it. We spoke with the customer regarding the safe on several occasions. We always ask if a customer has anything "large or unusual, like a safe, piano or a pool table". We were informed that there was a safe, but that it was small and we wouldn't need to use equipment to move it. When we called to confirm the day before the move, the small safe became a several hundred pound safe. This is not included in our standard prices. We apologized that there appeared to be a miscommunication about the weight and size of the safe and we promptly informed the customer that there would be a $50 charge for something that size. The customer argued with us while we tried to explain the reasons behind the charge for the safe and we gave them the option of moving it themselves, which they ultimately decided to do. We were very straight forward and apologetic, so to hear that they felt we were unprofessional is disheartening. When a miscommunication occurs, it is never easy to appease an angry consumer, but we do the very best we can given the circumstances. At the end of the day, the customer filled out a satisfaction survey and she stated that the crib damage was her only complaint, which, as stated previously, is something we thought had been taken care of to her liking. We're always saddened to hear, later, that the customer was unhappy and we weren't given the chance to rectify the situation.

Description of Work: They took all the beds down and put them up at new house (3 bedrooms) They wrap bubble around dressers, so did not have to unpack drawers. They connect washer. They were fast & efficient. Very polite. They really took the stress out of moving.

Description of Work: The guys did a fantastic job. Came on time and worked very hard to get the job done! We moved from a single story to a two story and they didn't miss a beat. We even had to travel 26 miles to our new place (a long ride for an in-town move) and were able to get it accomplished very professionally, on time, with no damage to any of my possessions. I would recommend these guys to anyone and already have! Gave their name to my niece who is moving later this summer.

It was okay. Few things got broken that we didn’t discover till after. For the most part it was good. We had everything boxed. They moved the boxes and furniture within a 10 mile range. I would tell others to make sure that nothing gets damaged and pay attention. I would not recommend them to move a pool table at all. They were not good with the pool table at all. We told them how to take it apart. They just didn’t listen to us. They drilled out the plaster that held it together with the bolts and stuff. It just never went back together very well. Our pool table was older. So we ended up putting it out for the large trash pickup because it was going to cost way more than it was worth trying to fix it up. The price was pretty close to everybody else.
Description of Work: Metro Movers moved us from one house to another.

We've checked our records, though, and we show that you moved with us at the very end of November, and although we see a piano listed in your paperwork, we do not see a pool table. We always ask specifically about large items, such as pool tables, safes and pianos, so we can get the correct crews on site. On your job order, there is a "no" clearly marked in the section for pool table. We also see that you were not charged for moving a pool table. If we send a pool table crew to your home, there would be a charge for it. Again, we apologize if we failed to deliver outstanding service, but without knowing that we would be moving a pool table, there was no way for us to ensure that we had the correct crew on site.

They wrapped up some of the furniture for protection during the move. They charged an hourly rate that had a two hour minimum. They completed the job in about four hours. Nothing was damaged in the move. However, there is some shelving they had taken apart that we don’t know what it goes to. Overall, my experience with them was fine.
Description of Work: We hired them to for a local move that consisted mostly of furniture and some boxes.

The bid we received was accurate and, I felt, very fair for a company that is licensed and insured (that was important to me and the reason I did not hire two guys working out of a truck). Our movers arrived on time and promptly assessed what they needed to do. We had a number of really heavy items upstairs and in the garage that they handled very well. We also possessed a large number of smaller items and we ran out of boxes to put them in. They managed to find safe places in the van for all of them, saving us roughly 10 car trips! They did all this quickly too, doing their best to remain in the time window of the estimate, despite the addition of all the small, unpacked items. The fact that they got it all done in the time allowed was impressive. Very professional and they took very few breaks, despite the heat. I'm can't speak for the experiences of the other reviewers, but I found Metro Movers to be prompt, professional, accommodating, fast, and a really good value. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Metro moved us from a two story home to a single story. We had virtually the entire 4-bedroom house and garage to move, including many heavy and/or fragile items. The move was in the middle of the summer so we certainly did not want to tackle it ourselves and my wife is not able.

After several frantic calls all morning, they advised me late in the afternoon they would be out the next day.I had to jump through hoops and find another mover and I got lucky.When I contacted their office the following Monday morning, they were snippy and told me they would charge me with harrassment.Don't go anywhere near these guys.
Description of Work: I sold a house and needed to be out that Saturday. Contacted them a month earlier. They never showed up.

I contracted with this company without doing my homework; BIG mistake! I have NEVER dealt with a more unprofessional business in my life. I had needed to move in a hurry and had a lot of very expensive custom furniture which I will never be able to afford to replace. They assured me it would be carefully handled and stored. I paid extra to have a "professional" packer come and pack my breakables ahead of time. When I unpacked, I realized the guy had packed a marble slab weighing more than 30 lbs on top of a large Tiffany art glass bowl! Hello--needless to say, the bowl was in about 50 pieces, as were a Riedel wine glass and a couple pieces of my wedding china. The real problem was they lied about how my things were stored (not temperature controlled); a box of candles melted onto a suede ottoman and ruined it, as well as the candles. Several large lamp shades were bent, dented and soiled, my drafting table was broken, and an antique mahogany occasional table (family heirloom) was broken and taped back together with packing tape. Much of my furniture was ruined from the de-laminating effects of being stored in extreme heat and the upholstery on a custom chaise was soiled and had a hole torn it. I knew I was in trouble when the trucks arrived at my new house with my leather-bound wool rugs bungeed to the back of the truck! The manager, Scott, was hard to get a hold of, generally unresponsive and unwilling to admit responsibility for the damages, claiming he had no recollection of guaranteeing my furniture would be stored in temperature-controlled facilities. The whole outfit left me feeling like I had been royally screwed and with very little recourse. They did not seem at all concerned with customer satisfaction. Hands down the worst experience I have had with any business, anywhere, EVER.

I did not have a good experience with them. I called with my complaints, and told them I would file a report. It didn't seem to bother them at all. The crew was great. I had no trouble with them at all. They were incredibly hard working, dedicated and determined men. They continuously asked for tips. They went from my apartment to my house to pick up additional things, and then was supposed to go to the duplex. The truck broke down about 2 miles away from my duplex. The workers said that part of the reason the truck broke down was because the owner doesn't keep up with maintenance. They said their truck breaks down all of the time. What irritated me was that the owner never called me to tell me what they were going to do about it. I felt like it was his responsibility, not his workers. I called the owner and asked what his plan was. He was infuriated that I expected him to call. he was beside himself. The movers were fantastic, but the owner was horrible! The price was fine.
Description of Work: I used Metro Movers to move me a very short distance.

THE 3-MAN MOVING CREW ARRIVED OVER 1 HOUR LATE BECAUSE THEY WERE SHORTHANDED AND HAD TO WAIT FOR TEMP HELP TO SHOW UP. THEY WERE NOT PROPERLY EQUIPPED OR EXPERIENCED FOR THE SIZE OF THE JOB, AND HAD TO MAKE 2 SEPARATE TRIPS. ALSO, THEIR LACK OF EXPERIENCE CAUSED EVERYTHING TO TAKE MUCH LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, WHICH COST US EXTRA MONEY AND RESULTED IN THEM LEAVING WITHOUT PUTTING SOME FURNITURE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN. LUCKILY, THE HEAD MAN OF THE TEAM WAS A REGULAR EXPERIENCED WORKER AND DID HIS BEST TO DIRECT AND HOLD THINGS TOGETHER UNDER THE DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES.
