I called the office on Tuesday March 24th (I should have gotten the rep's name that made the appointment), she said she could either get him here this Saturday (March 28), or it would be another week as he's (Jeremiah) is booked up. I said I had other things to do on Saturday, but if she could give me a time, I would make sure I would be home. She said all she had was a 1:30-2:30 time table for him to come out and see what work I wanted done. I said "Great, I'll make sure I'm home on Saturday between 1:30-2:30." I came home from errands at 12:30, and waited until 4:30 before going back out. Jeremiah didn't show, nor did I receive a phone call telling me he was running late, or would need to reschedule etc... I am big on customer service, and common courtesy. I received neither in this case, just wasted my Saturday waiting on a No Show/No Call. If this is the service I can expect, I will be looking elsewhere. I gave an A for Responsiveness as the rep that answered the phone answered right away, and was able to provide me an appointment. F for Punctuality and Professionalism as not showing, and not calling to tell me you were not showing is not Professional. Update/Edit (4/6/2015): I changed the Punctuality and Professionalism from the original F to a B (A for today, averaging up from the F) as Jeremiah did contact me, and apologize for an error in the scheduling. He did come out this morning at the time scheduled, listened to my thoughts and provided some feedback. He then took measurements to verify the setback from the block fence (wall) and the sq footage of the area that needed the work. He sat down and drew out what the agreed upon layout would be and wrote a quote on the spot. After sitting with him I felt as though he was honest in his feedback, pricing and gave me the sense of someone I could trust to do the job, and do the job right. I have some additional research to do, see about some financing before making my final decision. If I do proceed with Masterscapes, I will provide another review based on job completion.

The work schedule and completion of the job was timely. The basis for the F on professionalism was Jeremiah's refusal to taken responsibility for minor damage to one of my carriage yard lights. The carriage light pole that is hard metal was cut severing the electrical connection to the light. Jeremiah refused to take responsibility for this and indicated that initially indicated that he would charge me for rewiring this light. Refusing to accept responsibility for installing a new carriage light, which I have already purchased, has led to me giving this company an F on professionalism. This is a sad commentary on a company that did an excellent job but insisted on doing battle on meeting their commitment to repair any damage that they caused. Too bad since I was considering having this company do additional work on upgrading my back yard.

We didn't really use them, but?they provided an estimate regarding the sprinkler system. We will consider using them for our sprinkler system in the future.

The house is in Arizona and I live in Minnesota. I wasn't there when they did the work. It was a while before I got there but everything looked good.

We are very satisfied with the landscaping service provided by Masterscapes. They did exactly everything the told us they would. They gave us an accurate and reasonable estimate and our final charge was exactly as stated in the estimate. They were willing to work with our challenging schedule and meet with us in early morning hours and on weekends. They gave us a start date and completion date and they stayed on schedule. We are very satisfied with the quality of work and would highly recommend Masterscapes to anyone looking to do a landscaping job, large or small.

They always do a good job. We are always pleased with the services we receive. They are a little pricey but worth it. We also refer this company to friends who have now started using their services. They typically come out 3 times a year.

Masterscapes met all our expectations and exceeding them on a few aspects. Working with Troy was a joy from day one when he was here for an estimate. I am writing this review 6 months later and have no follow-up issues to report. Everything is working wonderfully and the bushes are growing great. My family spends 10X the amount of time in the backyard now than we used the before. The crews work well, and what is particularly nice to see is how it is all integrated together even though the crews can be different. Troy did a final walk through, checking at all stages for our satisfaction. We made a few changes during the process including adding new lighting at the last minute, which were all managed with an open mind and supported.? I would definitely recommend Masterscapes for a quality job, especially if you are trying to accomplish a range of things and want to ensure it all flows well together.

I found this company at the Maricopa Home Show and scheduled them to come out to give an estimate. Jeremiah came out as planned said he would send me the estimate within a few days but never heard back. Seems like this is a common occurrence with landscapers.

I found them on Angie's List and I was pleased with them. They did a good job. They were professional, they followed up, and I would recommend them for presentation, quality of work and price. They were really good. They do a lot of things, not just landscaping. They do lighting, and a lot of masonry as well.

Masterscapes completed our project very professionally & competently. Special recognition to Troy Rock (landscape) & Todd (Alumawood) for their design ideas. Crew excellent & hardworking; they laid tile with an artisan's eye & real craftsmanship - true perfection! Would definitely hire them again!

We are very pleased; Masterscapes are experts in their field and very professional in managing the process of such an extensive project for our large corner lot. Masterscapes coordinated all permits and HOA approvals without a hitch. They worked closely with us on plant selection, paying close attention to our wish list for color and flowering schedule. They made sure we were involved in tile selection, meeting with the vendors on site, along with selection of special water features and design of the fireplace. We highly recommend Masterscapes: they deliver high value, are price competitive, and are true professionals.

We will be short and to the point. If we could do this all over again, we would select another landscape company. While the synthetic grass looks good, there were many other things that we had problems with. Mainly, getting tree's replaced after they died for 3rd time. After months of frustration calling, sending photo's, waiting for call backs, they FINALLY replaced 3 small palms (2nd time around). We were advised that they will not replace these again. The warranty policy was "thought up" along the way. These tree's are so inexpensive and we had to "wait" until the crew was on "our side of town". Here are a few thought to share IF you decide to go with this company: - Know what you want to plant and where before the initial visit- don't let them them make your mind for you - it's a personal choice - not the choice of the "Arborist". If you want advice - you will be sure to get it. - Our $9,500 job seemed like small beans to this company - we felt that during the entire project. - Pass on letting them do the professional light installation. We knew more about our options then they did - this was $2500 of the cost, and we did all the research. Bottom line - not a good overall experience. The crews that actually did the work were good - I don't want to leave them out. We did get several estimates, they were all pretty close - keep this in mind if you are making any final decisions. Customer service and attitude all all important parts of an estimate to us. I wish we could say we rated highly on all 3 - but we can't.

This company had it's ups and downs,They were all ready to go at first, meaning eager to have won our contract to do the work. The guys who installed pavers around pool and walk ways did excellent job. They were very skilled in their craft, however no one spoke English so hard to communicate. It was a good thing I was home during a lot of the installing time, because I would have to point out what I wanted, so if I was not home it would have just been done however because they did not come to me and say how would you like this. As a homeowner I would think I would get to finalize what I want in in my yard. The tile guys did not put anything over pool to cover all the cement and dirt that went into pool and all the cement clog my filters. I had to get my pool drained and cleaned afterwards which cost me $500. They also left chunks of cement around pool siding of pool did not clean up their work, no one has attention to detail. The other group of guys who did artificial grass were not good and seemed to not know what they were doing, one guy (the guy I charge) said this was his first time installing grass. I could not believe my hears as the company gave impression they had been doing the grass work for years. Bottom line is that the communication process was dropped after things started breaking and not working. I called them and they would come out in their time frame. No consistency, their office would call and tell me someone would becoming out to do some work and then no one would show up, that was very frustrating. Bottom line I would not recommend this company, they did not have a punch list of things they needed to follow up on and once 95% of job was complete I never heard from them again. They did try to come out and correct things, when they did this they would just create another problem. The last thing they did was try to lift the grass to make it stand up because after 5 months it has flattening out, so the guy brought a shop vac and started sucking all the grass, which intern sucked all the sand that was placed under the grass up. Now I have divots all under the artificial grass, really?? and when I emailed and called the owner, I have never received a response. I am very mad at myself for spending so much money and being told it was going to be top notch job when they cut corners and installed cheap equipment. They grass was by far the cheapest stuff, and I was told it would be top of the line quality. Again for 60,000.00 I expected better attention to detail and follow through. Still waiting for a response from company., I still have not signed off a completion of job. Do not understand that. If this is their best work I would not recommended them, they charge too much for what they deliver.

The owner was nice, but a little on the pushy side. We ended up spending a lot more because we put in the grass area.

Showed up on time and did a quality job.

On the first visit, Alan walked around the yard as I told him what I wanted. We talked about a shade structure and some different plants that would work better around the pool. He called a couple of weeks later and said he needed to come back to the house and take some measurements, which he did. I guess a couple of weeks went by after that and I didn't hear back from him so I called. He said drawings were just about ready and he'd call to schedule. I still haven't received a call. All of this went on over about 6 weeks. In the end, we went with a different landscaper. I believe that Masterscapes would have done a great job, and I would even call them again for another estimate. It just seemed like they weren't that interested in my job.

It could have been better. They programmed my sprinkler system but didn't repair a sprinkler head that had come off which was disappointing. I don't feel like I got the full $69 worth.

Fixing a fountain pump may sound like something that landscape companies would all do but that is not so. Finding Masterscapes was wonderful. Troy Rock came out the day I called and fixed the problem. He checked wiring, etc and now the fountain is pumping water beautifully! In addition to solving the problem, he took the time to answer all our questions about our landscaping. He was very professional but at the same time, he was warm, funny and very easy to work with. Without a doubt, we will call on them whenever we need landscaping work done. Job well done, Troy and Masterscapes! .

We love the results of our backyard landscape. We asked Troy for some suggestions as well as having some ideas of our own. We had artificial turf put in, a planter box, a paver path from the driveway to the backgate, and trees, bushes and irrigation put in. They did a fantastic job. The workmanship is top quality and we will hire them again because will be moving to a new house soon which needs a backyard landscape.

I had met with Alan on a couple occasions prior to signing a contract to have Masterscapes perform the described job. I also received estimates from 2 other companies. One was about the same as Masterscapes and one was significantly lower. The reason my wife and I chose Masterscapes is that Alan did a nice job of providing other options to us rather than just quote what we requested. After all, I am not a landscape professional and that is why I was bidding this job out. Perhaps it is also my inexperience in the landscaping business that had me a little confused on somethings. When Alan and I signed the contract, he informed me they were 3-5 weeks out to get any work done. No big deal, my wife and I were having an anniversary party which was about 4 weeks away. With that knowledge, I was told it would not be an issue at all to have the job completed by then, in time for our party. They would start on Tuesday or Wednesday and have the job completed within 3 days. Well, a week before what I understood our start date was, I received a call asking when they could get started. I already thought we had secured this date. I was informed they were 8 weeks out from getting jobs done. Well, they may be 8 weeks out now, but when we had agreed to this job they were only 3-5 weeks out, so this is not really my problem. I was under the impression that the crews would be scheduled accordingly. After a discussion, the crew did get started on time, but not after a little headache. I informed Alan I was unhappy with the communication. After that, the communication was excellent! The work got started and the paver crew did an excellent job! Then another snafu occurred. My wife and I had gone out for a birthday party one night, and upon return we discover that the pool level had dropped significantly and that water was pouring into the side of our yard. When the crew was digging the line for the drip system, they accidentally struck a pipe that returned water back to our pump. We quickly turned the pump off and emailed Alan. Alan responded as quickly as he could, and was over the next morning, visibly unhappy with his crew and the circumstance it created (I would be too). The issue was resolved and the pool was restored. The remainder of the work was done to satisfaction. It took a little longer than we would have hoped for our sago palm to be planted, but it's not that big of a deal. Also, they crew had left some items on the side of our yard that sat there for a couple of weeks, which I also found a little strange. The only other thing I would have asked to be buttoned up a bit, is the cords from the water system and light transformers. They are plugged into an existing outlet and have a few extra feet of cords just tucked into a crevasse. Overall, I would give Masterscapes a B or B+ for the job described. There was some miscommunication and things did not go "seamless", but they did respond well to those issues and fixed the things that I was unhappy with. My wife, dog and I will be enjoying our newly renovated backyard!

I did not schedule them to come out because the price was excessive to diagnose the problem. Got inspection, diagnosis and repair for $59 with another company and they showed me how to fix the issue myself in case it happens again.

Work was started on the 28th which included a day of prep to dig out for the pavers and remove the old dying lawn, along with digging a new trench for the drip system.. Then day two was putting in all the pavers and day three was installing artificial turf. The crew came on time, did an excellent job and I have to say the guys were courteous, polite and new exactly how to do there job. The pavers look as if they had been there all along and the turf is better than I expected it to look. No more mowing, no more lawn bugs, no more watering. I commend Jeremiah and his crew for an outstanding job and would tell anyone to use there service if they want a GREAT job done on there landscaping!

My job was very small compared to what they usually bid on. They were the only ones out of 4 companies that would even take on such a small job. But they did and they made me feel like I was one of their best customers. The workers were courteous, professional, and did an excellent job from start to cleanup. I could not be more pleased from quote to completion. They even had a supervisor come back to review the job. He decided a spot needed to be a little lower. Sent workers out the next day to fix it and then the supervisor came back the following day to give it the final okay. I would highly recommend this company!

The project took much longer than anticipated (over a month). Had problems with the sprinklers that were put in - they cut previous sprinkler lines that went to other areas of the yard, causing flooding where the lines were cut. They had to come back to fix the problem. Entire sprinkler system was turned off during the majority of the project, so rest of the large yard (front and back) had to be manually watered for a month. When they replaced the sprinkler timer box to accommodate their sprinklers, previous stations to the front yard did not work. The most frustrating problem was in the installation of the flagstone patio. The slope of the patio now goes directly toward the patio door, so that every time the sprinklers run or it rains or I use the hose on the patio, there ends up being a big puddle of water directly in front of the door. The rest of the patio dries out quickly, but all water runs to the house and pools in front of the patio door. Very frustrating and causing water to be tracked into the house by the dog or anyone who is outside and has to step through water to come in to the house. They came back to "fix" it by running a drain strip along the edge of the house, but they did nothing about the slope and the drain does little to stop the pooling water as it is about 4 inches away from the problem. The finished project seemed to not be worth what we paid for it and below our expectations.

Gentleman showed up, and did NOTHING at all. He was looking for big landscape design jobs, but provided no value whatsoever.
