Contacted Masterscapes to repair existing water feature we had installed in our backyard by a landscape contractor when we moved into our home. Both the waterfall and the pond itself continually leaked and the contractor was unable to make repairs. Masterscapes came out and gave me an estimate to either repair or replace. The estimate was detailed with a number of options which made clear they were trying to help us find the right balance between the aesthetics of our home and the size of our wallet. They did explain if I chose repair, they couldn't extend a warranty because they wouldn't be accessing all the previous contractor's plumbing which was perfectly understandable. Ultimately, we chose to start over and have Masterscapes redo the entire water feature. We are so glad we did! It was amazing to watch the worker's attention to every little detail. They did a meticulous job creating a beautiful and natural looking boulder stack for the waterfall, and replaced the old cement pond with a properly constructed one guaranteed not to leak. The final result is spectacular and exceeded our expectations. Masterscapes called each of the three days of the project to let us know they were on schedule and when the workers would arrive. The crew was extremely polite and respectful of our property and neighbors. Everywhere material would be on the ground they laid tarps first, and swept and blew off the area afterward. They gave us opportunity for input as the project went along, asking our preferences (such as whether to use river rock in the pond or not). I rated price as a "B" only because it was expensive (and stung a little bit to be paying for something twice, which wasn't Masterscape's fault). The cost also includes a warranty from a reputable local business and that has value. We are very confident we got the quality installation we paid for and couldn't be happier with Masterscapes. I would highly recommend them and would certainly use them again.

His price was amazing and the crew that came were amazing they worked well. They did everything we asked and in a very timely fashion. Beautiful work I would hire them again.

Our Masterscape landscape designer, Derek, was a true professional throughout the process. He was prompt for the estimate appointment, and arrived with the crew on the first day to insure everything was in order. The project was supervised by Jacob, and the work was performed to a level beyond our expectations. Jacob, and his entire crew, have our sincere appreciation for the exceptional work they performed.

Let me say up front that we had two different work crews come to our home to perform the required work. Both crews were hard-working, professional and polite. As for the cost of the project, my wife and I feel that we were given a fair price. This is the extent of of positive comments I have to make about MasterScapes. Our experience began when the salesman came to our home on August 17, 2016 to discuss just what we envisioned for our yard. When he first arrived, the salesman commented that his brother lived nearby. We then discussed the work to be done. While there was other work we wanted done, the main thing we wanted was to have creeping thyme planted in the back yard. The salesman said that this was no problem as he had planted creeping thyme in the past. Needless to say, we were quite pleased at this point and gave him a down payment to do the work. He stated that he would call us one week before the work crew arrived and even noted that on our work order. After he left, my wife and I discussed some other items that we wanted done in the yard. I called MasterScapes back and requested that the salesman come back and talk to us, which he did. Six days after the first visit, on August 22nd, MasterScapes cashed our check. I waited another 3 weeks before calling MasterScapes and asked when they planned to do the work in our yard. I was told that a crew would be at our home in four days. I asked “what happened to calling a week ahead of time?” I was told that they called me the previous week. They never called me. When the crew came the following Thursday, they went to work immediately. They were very professional. The only problem I had occurred the next day when I was in my car and backing out of the driveway. The foreman stopped me and asked where I wanted the plants for the front and side yard placed. I could not believe the salesman did not tell the crew where to place the plants. It had been a month since my wife, myself and the salesman discussed the placement of the plants and clearly I was in a hurry to go somewhere else. Needless to say, some of the plants were incorrectly placed (although another crew came back and corrected this). The salesman had told us when he first met with us that he would be here on the first day of the job, the final day and would stop by in the middle of the job, as well. This did not happen and as a result, the crew did not know where to place the plants. The salesman also said this would be a three day job. However, the work began on September 15th and ended on October 4th - 2 ½ weeks! About halfway through the day, I received a phone call from the office of MasterScapes. I was told that they were trying to schedule a time to begin the work at our property and wanted to know when would be a good time for us. I explained to them that this was the second day that their work crew had been here! I was also told that the crew could not plant the creeping thyme that we had requested as the nursery they deal with was unable to obtain the thyme. In later phone calls, the person at MasterScapes responsible for ordering plants stated this was the wrong time of the year to plant creeping thyme and they would not survive. As a result, the salesman came to our home a third time to discuss an alternative ground cover to plant as he agreed that this was the wrong time of the year to plant creeping thyme. The salesman arrived at our house almost ninety minutes past his designated appointed time. He stated that he forgot how long it took to get to our house. However, he had been to our house twice before and he had previously stated that his brother lived nearby. Besides, I can travel most anywhere in Maricopa County in ninety minutes or less! When he finally arrived, we agreed on a different ground cover that would thrive at this time of the year. Less than a week later, we received an email from the same man at MasterScapes who had previously said that it was the wrong time of the year to plant creeping thyme. This time he said that they just got a shipment of creeping thyme and they would be out on October 4th to plant them in our yard. When I questioned one of the crew people as to why we had been told creeping thyme could not be planted this time of year and yet they changed their mind, he said he would have the salesman talk to us. He also said the salesman would do a final walk-through with us. That was nine days ago. NINE DAYS AGO and I have not heard from anyone at MasterScapes - except they did cash my final check to them!

Looks beautiful and drip system works well. Only problem-patio furniture was covered in dust from cutting the travertine. Providing covering for those items during installation would have been appreciated.

They were helpful, on time and did wonderful work.

Not sure it could have gone any better. From getting the bid to the final walkthrough. We got 5 different bids from highly rated landscaping companies. Zee was the only estimator that listened to what I wanted to do, and instead of trying to talk me out of it like some of the others, worked with me to make it successful. Zee and the crew didn't bat an eye when I asked the to change a few things (some of them I messed up). Some were even simply out-of-scope of the project but they did them anyway without complaint. They weren't even the most expensive bid but I do believe they turned out to be the best at any price. We are very happy we selected them.

They suggested solutions I didn't know about and they implemented them with skill and craftsmanship.

Was completed on time and we are very happy with results

It was okay, nothing great. I had three other people give me bids. I had them do something and someone else do something else. I might use them again in the future if they give me the right price. To do better they could have improved their price and cleaning up better after they are done. It cost considerably over the big deal price. I had an agreement with the provider.

The designer, Richard, did a good job of listening to our desires and drawing up the design. He then was our contact for how it was going throughout the process. The landscaping team, headed by Tommy worked hard to create the landscape and were responsive to minimal changes we requested. When we had a couple of issues with some of the pavers and the dying of a couple of plants Anna was responsive to us and helped make those changes happen. Overall we were very impressed with this company. They did respond to every request we made but due to their popularity we had to be patient and wait a little longer than the average to have things corrected. I would recommend them and do plan to use them again in the future.

I approached Masterscapes in a panic as I had a deadline for getting my back patio / yard done for 2 upcoming events I was hosting in my home. I had just finished putting a pool in and my yard was a huge mess! I ordered beautiful travertine, a pergola and artificial turf. I had only 3 weeks total to get it all done , including picking out which travertine I wanted and waiting for it to be shipped. They got the pergola up in 2 days, the tile took 2 days 3 days after the pergola went up and the turf in a half day 4 days after they were finished with the tile. Everything was stunning, efficient and all of their crews were professional and friendly! I plan on using them again and would highly recommend! Lisa P

Masterscape was ontime, on budget, and professional. Once materials were delivered, they were done that same week. They cleared my backyard, laid down 940 sq. ft. of stone pavers, edged 4o lf of pool desk with travertine tiles, installed 35 lf of colored curbing with a couple of boulders, and added 4 tons of pea gravel. All work was done as promised. The only issue I have is my cat thinks the areas with pea gravel are her litter box. I will be using Masterscape to complete the softscape areas for the next phase of the project - and try to talk them into taking the cat.

Masterscapes was the only company that asked me what I wanted to spend, and built a plan around that. Very friendly throughout, and did a great job. Completed the service flawlessly, and I had no complaints, even months later.

They started on a Monday and finished on a Friday. They were here every time they said they would be here. Their work went according to plan. They were all very professional and accommodating. They described what they were doing every step. They checked with us when they left materials or equipment here over night. After the job was complete and we had a question or concern they were right on it answering our question or adjusting the situation. It was an excellent company to work with every step of the way. Highly recommended.

As usual very well! Masterscapes had put in new landscaping for me almost three years ago and I continue to get compliments about how great my yard looks both front and back. This is the first time anything has happened to the watering system... which for Arizona is pretty amazing considering our blistering summer heat(this is based on my past experiences in the other 2 houses I've lived in over the course of 30 years). Jeremiah showed up on time and quickly did the work needed which I appreciated.

The owner came out and was very nice and quite helpful, he offered good ideas and was very attentive. It just didn't work out with pricing as it was higher than I was able to afford. Nice guy and very professional though. I appreciated his time and follow up with me several days later.

Working with Zee Herrera and the Masterscapes team was a great experience. We had Zee quote three different landscape options which enabled us to make a qualified decision as to which service would be best, both environmentally and economically. The work was done on time and on the date scheduled. The team followed up and even returned to update the clock settings for our specific water schedule. Vangie Herrera in the office made the contract process smooth and ensured she kept us up to date on the progress and responded immediately to any questions or concerns we had. Great service and we do have a warranty. I would highly recommend.

We shopped several landscape design companies for ideas for a backyard patio living space. Some companies provided quotes but Masterscapes was the only company who provided a detailed design, follow up to our many questions, and worked very diligently to stay within our budget. Zee is a fantastic design specialist and he stayed committed to our project from start to finish. He was always willing to answer our questions and incorporate suggestions as the project went along. Masterscapes called every day to let us know what time the crew would be at our home the following day. They always showed up on time. All of the workers were very professional, friendly, and hard working. We are so pleased with the work they did and we now have a backyard we will enjoy for a very long time.

After noticing just how much it would cost me to put up a wall (after I signed the contract), I told him to stop working. I was immediately sent a legal notice that he would put a lien on my property if I didn't pay. I told him to STOP. Did not listen. It would have cost me around 6K for the work to be completed. The negotiating point was that he would stop work with another $500 and I was to agree to not file any complaints against the company with Angie's list and BBB or any other public advertising. They refused to listen and expected to continue working. It was like I wasn't even there. Very pushy and intimidating. Some months later, I am writing you to complain about what can only be termed extortion. When they stopped the work I had bags of cement on curbside for at least three weeks. It is not fair to let these people get away with something even though I gave my word that I would not complain. Absolutely disgusted. I do have the paperwork. I now have wall around 4x6 feet built from cement block and a few stones that were removed and then replaced. The cost of this ran me around $3500. I should have checked their status. The salesman operated from his hip. I trusted previous history. Their sterling reputation and service from 8 years ago was what I relied on. I believe the company was sold to one of the workers. Does Angie's list follow through on whether or not a company was sold and was operating on previous recommendations? In my opinion, they are way overpriced on what they do. The smaller jobs seems to be taking the hit. I should have checked more thoroughly before signing a contract. My fault.

High quote. They don't have a legit business, I went to see their store to pay cash and it doesn't exist, hard to do business with a company set up like that. Address goes no where. They took forever to get back to me, I wouldn't call them again.

Both projects went very well. Both teams of workers were very professional and courteous. In terms of clean-up and removal of the old debris and sod, they were very thorough. The sod they planted was a 'mid iron Bermuda. It looks great. Three months later (and into the heat of June) the lawn still looks great and healthy.

Troy from Masterscapes came out to give us a estimate of a patio project and arrived on time and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. We will gladly use them in the future.

Very detail oriented. They showed up on time. Very professional. The workmanship was incredible and they didn't cut corners. It was very well done and I was very impressed. They cleaned up really nice. He listened to me and considered my inputs and gave some of his input which was very helpful. He helped bring his expertise to me so I knew how to choose colors and things for the project.
