We've had issues every single time someone from Lyons comes out, including the original work. In July 2014 we had roof leaks and it was inordinately difficult and painful to get those resolved. Scheduling errors, no shows, had to escalate repeatedly to get it the warranty work addressed. January 2013 we had some roof leakage and they came out to address it. Now a year later, late July 2015 we saw bubbling/cracking and blisters on the roof. They came out on 8/5 and fixed some, but not all of them. They argued with me that it wasn't covered, or that the roof area wasn't in scope (?!?!) I had to show them the proof since their systems were not showing that we were a customer. Again, more pain and aggravation. That was 3 weeks ago. They still haven't finished the work. They haven't followed up even though they said "We'll get it scheduled." ------------ On Aug 24 2015 we asked for an update since we still had issues, and was told "Yes I show that Matt repaired coating blisters on 8/5. Let me get this information over to my service manager Jeremey. He will reach out to you regarding this issue." ----------- On Jan 28 2016 I asked for an update, since we have more blisters and the roof is in bad shape. The response "Let me go ahead and get this over to our service manager so he can have a meeting of the minds with foam supervisor and area manager." ------ Today is Feb 1 2016 and I have yet to hear back from anyone at Lyons Roofing.
Description of Work: In 2012 we paid $8500 for a full recoat of a foam flat roof with a 5yr warranty. This was after spending $2000 in 2011 for spot repairs and skylight repairs. They've been back multiple times to fix the blistering and chronic leaks under warranty, but the roof is in worse shape than when we started.

First of all my apologies for my delayed response. I needed to gather some information regarding your case. Know this, my goal is to seek resolve. Additionally, I would like to apologize for any previous miscommunication or frustrations, rest assured no one is intentionally trying to skirt responsibility. The previous Service Manager that you originally worked with is no longer with the company, and for good reason. I understand that Jeremy, our current service department manager, has been to your property just this week and you were unable to meet with him at that time. I think you will find Jeremy to be extremely responsive and professional. In an attempt to highlight what he explained to me: A foam roof system is a two component system. The foam itself is the waterproofing component whereas the coating is the "sunblock" that protects the foam. Jeremy's assessment is that the coating is performing as promised. In fact he feels it is the foam roof that is pulling away from the roof substrate which is causing the blistering. My suggestion is that we arrange a meeting with the foam and coating manufacturer on your property to allow for a neutral professional opinion. If his findings are different, we are happy to respond accordingly. Please connect with Jeremy or myself directly to facilitate this meeting. Again, my apologies. the service was never performed because no one ever call to set up an estimate, this is my first and last exposure with Angie's list, your service is certainly not what it is advertised to be to recommend dependable compainies
Description of Work: I called to get a vent replaced on my roof on 8/3, I was told that someone would call me within 24 to set up an appointment for a free estimate, I never received any such call, I got someone else to fix my problem, I do not intend to beg people to do work for me

My apologies that we failed to connect regarding your request to address a blown off turbine vent. According to our records our service administrator did call back on 8/3, a gentleman answered the phone and told us we had a wrong number and then hung up. I don't know if the number was transcribed incorrectly on our end, and that can very well be the case and for that, again, my apologies. I hope you can instead credit this to a simple error and continue to use Angie's list as a valuable resource for future home improvement projects. If I can assist you personally in any way. I had told this guy that my father was involved because it was his house. He made the comment "it's a good thing you have your father's help", as if I needed it! I guess he just assumed I was a dumb blonde. I'm VP for an international organization and am quite capable of making my own decisions. I gave him a second opportunity to give an actual estimate for a metal roof, and he said "I already gave you that...an additional $20k"
Description of Work: This guy was an idiot! He gave me an estimate of around $11k for a new roof, and after I asked for a metal roof estimate he told me it would be an additional $20k! I can get a metal roof for $17k! He insulted my intelligence and I would never recommend a guy that is such a snake!

We obtained 3 estimates for this roof repair. One of the companies didn't bother to go on the roof, they completed their estimate from Google Earth photos of our house, we did not choose this provider. Lyons was comparable to the other companies when it came to price. Their estimator was thorough and spent a good amount of time inspecting the roof. We felt like he really knew what he was doing. The Lyon's crew was employed by the company, not sub-contractors, which we really liked. The project started around the time they estimated it would. The crew was respectful and diligent about cleaning up each day. They followed our direction about asking first when they needed to get in the back yard, in order for us to lock our Lab in the house. The repair was done ahead of schedule, awesome. They also returned our pigeon abatement pieces: perching wires and screens. The other companies told us we were out of luck on those items. Even though it was the most boring money we have spent on the house, it went extremely well and would recommend them and would use them again if we need roof services. Great company !
Description of Work: Lyons completed a re-roof project on our tile roof.

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Lyon?s roofing. We chose them because they had done a good job on a previous house that we owned. Following the big rain last summer in which we had leaking in the house, we showed the Lyon?s representative where the roof leaks and also pointed out some stucco damage along the edge. He told us that they could repair all of the damage. Upon receiving the quote, we noticed that there was no mention of the stucco repair, in fact the quote had insufficient detail and was difficult to understand. We emailed Lyon?s to inform them that this repair was not listed, but received no reply. Both my husband and I left messages and emails over a period of a few weeks. At this point we should have found another roofer, however, we were concerned that we would have more damage in the house if the roof didn?t get fixed. After they finished foaming our flat roof (they were supposed to put in a new scupper, but convinced us that this was not needed and did not reduce the overall price accordingly) and said that they were done, we pointed out the damage along the edge and were told that they do not repair stucco. The manager made several appointments to come out to discuss the issue however he did not show up to some of them. He promised to extend the drain away from the house and told my husband that he would help find someone to repair the stucco. We didn?t hear from Lyon?s for several months, it took more than 9 months to complete all the repairs to our roof. When they did finally call it was to find out when we were going to pay the bill. They ended up taking $300 off our overall bill which in our opinion is not enough to compensate us for very poor communication, service and considering how long it took to complete the job in addition to the fact that the scope of work was obviously reduced and the stucco was not repaired. We would not recommend them and give them a very poor rating.

First of all forgive my delayed response. I was a bit in shock. I have done the investigation and anything I say would sound like excuses and there is no excuse for the time it took to ultimately wrap up this recoat job and the frustrations you experienced along the way. It is my understanding that the building of the cricket instead of installing an additional scupper was the prudent scope of work and was an equal cost investment, however that should have been better communicated to you. Again, no excuses. I regret that this experience played out as it did. We appreciate that all feedback, good or bad, is helpful and important. Trust me, this will be a case study that will serve as the model of how not to conduct business as a Lyons Roofing employee. Again my apologies. Jim from Lyons was very responsive and provided a fair quote quickly. Jim was brought back from retirement to open the Tucson office and I knew I would have Lyons' roof when I was ready to replace it because the Phoenix office did such a great job on a repair several years ago. The crew had a slight delay in getting started by a day, but I was in no hurry. The job was supposed to take around 4 days, but ended up taking longer due to several factors. I was not that concerned though about the longer period and the quality of the job was outstanding once completed.

From the initial call, everyone at Lyons Roofing was very professional. Even when there was a communication problem with the initial scheduling of the job, it was remedied within 24 hours. I didn't end up using their services because when the lead applicator lifted up the old balcony flooring to see the condition of the underneath plywood, it was immediately apparent that the entire balcony would have to be torn down due to the extensive dry rot damage. The contract was cancelled without a problem and my deposit was returned. If I needed their services in the future, I would not hesitate to call them.
Description of Work: I had contacted Lyons Roofing to apply a new deck coating on my master bedroom walk-out balcony. Unfortunately, when the old balcony flooring was removed, it became apparent that the entire balcony was structurally unsound due to extensive dry rot. Therefore, I didn't end up using them because the balcony had to be torn down.

They were really good. The project manager was really good about contacting me and letting me know what was going on. One thing that they didn't do was in their contract they said that they would come on time but there was a storm coming and they didn't get out to my house to tarp before the first storm but they were out here by the second storm. They cleaned up everyday after their work. I know when we signed a contract that in case we couldn't find a tile that matched the tile, that we would go with this other tile that they recommended but I wish they would have showed me at the time what it looks like and which area that I would prefer them to put that other colored tile. I think they were really good.

Thank you for your feedback. You are right, the tile replacement process as you describe is how it is supposed to unfold. I will be reviewing this process with those that were involved in your project. This tile replacement situation is proving more challenging daily. In 2008 when the economy retracted several tile manufacturers closed their doors. With that their proprietary colors and molds shut down too. Thus the unavailability of tiles to match. Many roofing companies and distributers were holding onto these particular tiles in what they call their "bone yard". However, these stocks are nearly depleted and it is going to get increasingly difficult to find suitable replacement tiles. It may come to a point very soon where we will have to recommend tile replacement. It is an unfortunate result of the recession. Thanks for your understanding. If there is any way I can be of assistance, do not hesitate to call. Ann Pepper Director of business development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

They were very good. They did excellent work. They did a very good job. There were 5 or 6 people and sometimes more depending on what was being done that day. They did a pretty good job. They cleaned up after themselves. They took the old roof away and the place is cleaned up really nice. We were really happy with their quality of work. The roof has no problem since they put it and it still looks as good as it did when they put it on. If we need a roof again, we will probably call them again. They are a good company. They are a little on the high side but they did a very good work and it was well worth it and they were well represented on Angie?s List. They did quality work.

Called in October, did not start until February. The storms in September did a number on many homes. They were the best price so I was willing to wait a bit longer. I would have given an A to price but, I was charged nearly double the "maximum amount" the estimate their salesman said the wood replacement would run. Project Manager came out to my home early and got the dates mixed up at the start. After they finally began, it took roughly a week for the initial project. I was never informed when work would begin each day. It varied. On Saturday they arrived extra early at 6:40am. I don't think my neighbors were a fan of that. They left a bunch of wood and trash in my yard when they finished. I had to call the next day to get them to return for clean up. A couple weeks later, when it rained, the roof leaked in my bedroom. It was in the same spot as before. After a few phone calls I got the project manager's boss involved. When they came out, a water test showed them the leak. A water test should have been done at the completion of the job. I was very fortunate the interior drywall repair had not started. Workers came out and addressed the flat roof area again. They used foam this time. At least, this was covered in the warranty provided and did not cost any extra. I just wanted to let the potential consumer know about my experience and to be better prepared when dealing with this company.
Description of Work: Provided a new roof, worked on patio deck and flat roofing area.

First of all thank you for providing feedback. All feedback, both good and bad, is how we learn and correct to provide better service. I apologize that the project did not unfold as anticipated. For what it is worth, your project has been the subject of discussion on many occasions here. The foam roof installation is the perfect solution for your scenario, unfortunately it took to long for that to have happened. I am confident that you will be pleased with your new foam roof installation going forward. As I mentioned all persons involved with this project have since been coached to assure this type of scenario doesn't happen again. We got several bids from roofing companies when we purchased our new home, which was a foreclosure in rough shape. Although, Lyons was a bit more expensive then some of the others we were pleased with their information and communication. Once the project started we new we chose the right roofer. Everyone on the office staff was helpful and could give us the information we needed. The crew showed up when they said they would and worked hard to get the job done in a timely manner. The project manager, Dustin, was great to work with. He always kept us up to date and was available to answer any questions we had. He even made sure they came back and did another sweep with their magnet to ensure there were no stray nails and my children were safe to play outside. We had a large monsoon storm about a month after the roof was completed. We had no leaks and are very confident that our new roof was well worth the investment. Months after the project was finished we had the exterior of our home painted. We discovered that the painter broke a total of 8 roof tiles while completing the work and also did not re-install the bird deterrent that Lyons had installed during the re-roof. When I contacted Lyons about the issues they were more than happy to accommodate coming back out for the minimum charge to complete the repairs. This was especially appreciated since reinstalling the bird deterrent is not something they typically do. Overall we were very pleased with the level of customer service and the quality of work.

Nothing happened...no call back,no appointment set up, no estimator, no estimate, no work performed. Now I have a friend who is dealing with Lyons not standing behind their warranty, so I am relieved that they didn't call back.
Description of Work: Lyons Roofing had many good reviews on Angie's list so I sent a message via Lyons' website that I was interested in getting an estimate on having my concrete tile roof redone with new concrete tile and underlayment. I received a call the next day and had an extensive conversation with a Lyons representative. I believe her name was Katherine. She told me they were very busy, but she would check the estimator's schedule and contact me by Monday or Tuesday of the next week. I hadn't heard back from her the next week, so I called and left a message with the answering service. I have never heard back from anyone with Lyons roofing.

Terrible. I have no idea how they have such high reviews. Scheduled with the main office for a visit and a quote. Then nothing .. To my untrained eye, it was not a big deal. The underlay was fine, but some tiles were knocked from the right spots. Couple small spots where some sealant could be added because the sun was exposed to the layer below. I had to call no less than 10 times trying to get a quote from their rep William. Tried email and phone. Called the office, was told repeatedly that they would contact him to send me the quote. So finally I get the quote and surprise - it has nearly no detail - looks like he created it 10 minutes after my last call and it says I need to re-roof my whole roof. Again - I had no leaks at all, just tiles out of place. He claimed it was in terrible shape and needs to be replaced. Even sent some pictures - that looked exactly as I said - a few tiles out of place and a couple spots that could be resealed/covered. There were no leaks. I would not ever use them. Ended up with a smaller company called German Roofing. They came out and gave me a quote of get this: $570.00 to repair the roof. After the repair I asked if there was anything else that they found. Nope - they said its in good condition, no worries.

I contacted Lyons Roofing by telephone and received a prompt callback...very good! I received a second call requesting additional information with the assurance that I would receive a follow up call to schedule and inspection....still OK....but three phone call just to get an inspection??? Not very efficient for a company that is in business to make MONEY! The third phone call never came! I was originally impressed with Lyons based on the responses to their customers from Ann Pepper. Sorry Ann, but this is not the first time that Lyons has neglected its customers by not returning phone calls......and the storms have been over for weeks. Update: He contacted me to keep me informed of weather conditions that would require rescheduling of the inspection. This review supersedes my original review of Lyons Roofing. I am sure Ann Pepper will be pleased with the responsiveness of her team after my last review. Great job Ann. After having a less than stellar initial experience with Lyons Roofing, the second time was a charm. I was contacted by Lyons staff to schedule my appointment to inspect the roof for le3aks. Jeremy Crandall was assigned to my repair. I agreed to the reschedule. He arrived on the agreed upon time and date. He examined the roof and to my amazement commented that he could repair the roof immediately. He quoted a price and we had an agreement. He repaired the roof, collected the fees and I was one happy camper. Thanks Lyons roofing.

We contacted them about a year ago and they let us know we did not need to work on the roof then. I really appreciated their honesty. It was very easy to schedule the estimate and they showed up on time. They were great with the follow up and called back in a timely manner to set up the appointment for the job.
Description of Work: I contacted the company for an estimate to re do the roof and repair the fascia.

I'm sure Lyon Roofing does good work. They generally get good reviews. They are very professional. In some ways, too professional. What I mean by this is that they recite management rules and company jargon to try to get you to do work that may not need to be done. The salesman/roofer who came by was professional to the point of being slick. He told me there might be some storm damage on the roof from the 2010 hail storm, and suggested I might want to speak to my insurance agent to send an adjuster out. I have been on the roof many times, as have other roofing contractors, and no one else suggested I might have storm damage. He also told me that insurance companies sometimes send adjusters out periodically to inspect roofs, and if they find the roof is too deteriorated, they might cancel the policy. When I asked him what were the chances the adjuster would decide to give me a new roof based upon the "damage," he said less than 50/50. So, if I follow his suggestion and call my insurance company, there is greater than a 50 percent chance that they will not determine that I am entitled to a new roof, but there is also the possibility that they will say I have to get a new roof or lose coverage!! Get it? So then I'd be out the cost of a new roof that I would not otherwise have had to invest in because I followed this guys advice and called my adjuster. Didn't make sense to me. I think he was just trying to scare me into getting a new roof when no other roofing contractor who came by recently to make a bid on the isolated leak thought I needed a new roof. Watch out for these guys. Sometimes good customer service and articulate salesmen are just manipulative behavior intended to get you to part with your hard earned cash.

First of all my apologies if your experience with your estimator was less than expected. Our goal, as always, is to provide all the information you need to make the best possible decision for your needs. Given your location, you may well have had hail damage. It is very rare for Arizona to get hail storms. Therefore many roof estimators are not familiar or experienced in identifying hail damage. That being said, yes it is risky to call for an insurance adjuster on an aged roof, as they may deny the claim, and then call for a reroof if the roof is beyond its useful life. It sounds like he was providing you the pros and cons of that scenario. This we understand to be true, we provide information, you get to choose the contractor. We never take that choice for granted. Again my apologies. Your estimator is new to Lyons Roofing, although not new to roofing. We appreciate the feedback and will coach him to assure that he conveys information "The Lyons Way" going forward. If I can be of any further assistance. Do not hesitate to email me personally. Happy Holidays! Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

Lyons team is amazing. The workers are so polite and know what they are doing. Replacing an entire roof is stressful but these guys were great. Although they were not the cheapest bid, they have a reputation of being the best and they are in my opinion.

Roofing is messy, loud and invasive. Thank you for understanding that and thank you for acknowledging our quality employees. We do feel we hire the best in the industry. We aren't perfect, but we certainly strive toward that goal. Respectfully, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

Called on 10/22/14 for a roof inspection, explained that another roofer had failed to show up and they took the info and said they would call within 1-2 days. It is Nov 3rd and still no call to date.
Description of Work: Called to get an estimate and they never returned my call. Not very professional for such a highly rated company. I understand roofing companies are very busy after the storms but that is no excuse for poor communications.

My sincere apologies. Yes it was a heck of a storm. In fact our own property was flooded, thus the use of an answering service. Yep, checked our records, we have no indication that you ever called. I realize this may sound trite-may I personally assist you at this time? to you are still seeking service-I would welcome the opportunity to assist. Respectfully, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

I waited the entire day for my scheduled tarping, trying repeatedly to get through to Lyons and leaving messages. In the evening they finally called to say they couldn't get approval from the insurance company. The insurance company also could not reach Lyons to give approval. Lyons said they never called them, which is a lie, because they left they left two messages in my home, in my presence, and I could not reach them either. Lyons said my entire roof had to be done even though my insurance company said just the small leaky section was necessary. As they pointed, out they were not covering the cost of the roof, so they had no reason to lie. I got three other estimates from A rated companies. All said only the leaky slope was needed. The price Lyons quoted was more than2x times the price of my other estimates for both the portion needed, as well as the entire roof. I finally went with Paramount Roofing after I learned they have been servicing our Church's roof for years, and they were extremely pleased with the service and prices. You can read my review of Paramount on Angies list . .Lyons knew I was a recently a widowed senior, and I felt they definitely were taking advantage of this. 10/30/14 In response: I have written estimates from the company I used as well as others, the estimates were for both partial and full roofing and they all beat Lyons. In response to your apples to apples Lyons came out about double the estimates while all the other companies were very similar in price. And what I would like to do is to let everybody to know to at least get several estimates.
Description of Work: I had an estimate. They put a tarp on the leaky section, with the understanding the cost would be taken off if I have them do the work. The price according to our insurance co. was twice the usual fee for tarps than that of other roofers. Since there was problems with the customer svc. I decided to get other estimates. In the meantime, the tarp leaked. My insurance company paid the fee. I use The Hartford as my insurance company, and the adjusters indicated they never experienced such unbelievable customer service, and that typically the other roofers do not require authorization for a tarp.

First of all my apologies. I have reviewed all the notes associated with your case. Ulitmately, there are no excuses for a dissatisfied customer. Like so many other property owners the morning after that storm, we were flooded, unable to acccess our own property and had our phones on a service for several days that quite honestly was not able to handle the volume of calls that were coming in after that storm. Many messages were delayed, but again from your perspective- it was a frustration and that is all that matters. The proposal we provided was for work we believe your project warranted. Without seeing the comparison proposals and their scope of work I can't determine if we were double the price on an apples to apples comparison. It sounds like we were bidding the entire roof while others were bidding a partial roof. Paramount Roofing is a great company and I anticipate that you will be water tight on that portion of the roof for years to come. Again, my sincere apologies. This experience could have been a nightmare but Lyons Roofing made it go as smoothly as it possibly could have gone. Dan came out to inspect and do the estimate. He explained everything in plain English and answered all of our questions. After all, this was a massive expense and we needed to understand everything that was included and the work to be done. For the record, we obtained another estimate and it came in very close to Lyons' quote so we went with Lyons based on their positive review. The work was scheduled to begin promptly. The actual construction was handled exactly as proposed. The crew was friendly. There were no surprises. We were told up front of potential issues that would cost a bit more and I believe the small additional charges were handled honestly (e.g. we needed some rotten boards replaced discovered after they removed the old roof). Our on site supervisor, Dustin, was just as great as Dan. He was attentive and treated our job like it was just as important as anything else in his workload. I asked him to meet with me in person and he scheduled those meetings around my work schedule. He explained everything that was being done. He went above the call of duty and provided us with tarps to cover an open atrium area when rain fell in the middle of the job. Communication throughout the process was excellent. I received call backs within 24 hours (usually less) anytime I had a question or issue. This project was unexpected, unplanned and cost us a lot of money. Spending the money was tough but Lyons Roofing came through and did a fantastic job. The roof looks great! No more leaks!
