LYONS ROOFING is highly recommended in Angies List. But I already knew about them. They did absolutely everything they said they would do. They were the most well managed company. Years ago we had our flat roof re-done. It needed it. The fellow who came and sold us the roof was extraordinary. You knew right away that this was a special guy. After we had our hail damage, by that time I knew that this fellow had bought and was the owner of his own roofing company which is LYONS ROOFING. So we called him there. It is the best company of its size that I have ever dealt with. Everybody had roof damage and roofers were just beside themselves. When I called LYONS ROOFING, Paul LaNue, the owner, he came that afternoon. He himself went up on the roof, came down and told me everything. He advised me to take my husband back to Prescott and that he would handle the insurance company and that he would take care of the repair. And he did it. He is a real decent human being and he really knows his business too. The thing that impressed me the most was that they could not do it right away. That was fine because there was no damage caused by leaking. They had scheduled it for December and then we had bad weather. So they did it in early January. There are levels of supervision with in that company. Everybody has a supervisor. You get a letter from the top saying that if you have any problems, we don’t want you to live with problems. We want to know about them so that we can fix them. That is how that company works. It is a great company. I had no problems. But If I had, I knew whom to contact. The guys who came and did the everyday work had an onsite supervisor. The onsite supervisor has an area supervisor. The area supervisor was responsible to Paul. At any level if I had any problem there was somebody that I could call. Not only did I not need to, I filled up their report at the end name by name. They were ripping off at the roof when my husband and I arrived at the house and one of them almost jumped off the roof to clear off the driveway so that we could get in and out. They somehow understood it is not fun to go through having your roof ripped off and re-done. They made it as painless as possible. It is the best company. On Angies List tons of people have written about them. They have even given me a ten year transferable warranty. This will be incredibly good when we get the house on the market. They went beyond what was required and what was expected. I understood that everybody had a problem. I understood that they were swarmed. They did not delay us for long. The final delay was the freezing rains storms we had which ripped the roof off during that. But they did it in good time given the conditions. They were wonderful and it is beautiful.

Even with a leaky damaged roof, the earliest date available for a roof repair estimate was scheduled to be a in ONE MONTH from the initial call to LYONS ROOFING. However, LYONS ROOFING could not meet their obligation to provide a qualified employee to do the estimate re: roof repairs, as scheduled and did not inform the homeowner (until the scheduled day), that they would not be able to keep the appointment ... because they stated that they had no one available to do the estimate. After three calls to their answering service requesting a manager; the homeowner finally received a call back (over an hour later) from a staff person and then two hours later from one of the company owners. The LYONS ROOFING owner expected the homeowner to re-schedule the appointment, instead of handling their staffing crisis "in house", by providing another employee to do the roof estimate on the same date, as originally scheduled. After having already waited a month, the homeowner did not re-schedule with LYONS ROOFING, since the company could not even meet their obligation to keep the initial appointment !

First off all, please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in scheduling this second appointment. Lyons Roofing, like most reputable roofing companies, has experienced a tremendous influx of customer requests since the October 5th hail storm. Our wait was uncomfortably long especially for our own standards. In reviewing our customer history I note that our original appointment with you was back in September, prior to the hail storm. You had called September 1st and had an appointment and proposal for your patio renovation provided on September 13th. At that time you had opted to not proceed with that proposal. It is also my understanding that you were scheduled to receive a temp patch to assure you remain water tight, but you choose to cancel that appointment. It is our standard of practice that while waiting for a new roof install we would provide a temp patch for any leak compromised roof at no charge for any homeowner's roof under contract. Again, as mentioned in our phone conversation, we understand your frustration and apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this unforeseen situation. I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some additional information to clarify and hopefully remedy this situational frustration. It is my understanding that your estimator had called you requesting to reschedule your appointment because he was ill. I believe you noted that you work in the medical community so I am guessing your can appreciate that illness if often a spontaneous inconvenience. You had mentioned to Craig that you were out of town every week for work and could not reschedule. In an effort to meet your needs, he attempted to get another estimator out there for you. Craig also noted that when he was unable to secure coverage, he called back offering to keep the appointment. Understandably you were uncomfortable having Craig come himself as it was unclear as to whether his illness was contagious. Again, an unfortunate series of events. It is my understanding that Craig offered to meet with you at your next earliest convenient time. I would also like to highlight that you did in fact speak with a manager from our company other than the answering service. You spoke with Wendy, our Production Manager who was on call. My call to you was prompted by Wendy's concern regarding this situation. In summary we feel we made ample efforts to accommodate you. We feel this situation, albeit not ideal, is not outside of the realm of understandable given the variables at hand. We can only communicate, apologize and attempt to accommodate you at your convenience. We are sorry that was not acceptable and sincerely hope you can get your roof work done to your satisfaction with the whatever company you choose.

Lyons Roofing was prompt to respond to my request for a quote. The owner of the company actually came out as well as the regular estimator. They were very professional as was the office confirming appointments, etc. I accepted the bid, even though I had hoped to get the work done earlier than they told me they could schedule it. They later worked my job in, as it was a small job, and met the scheduling I had hoped for. The work was done promptly on the schedule I had been given and the work appears to be done well. I did find some debris on the ground and up on the flat portion of the roof that I which they had swept up, as nails and concrete droppings can damage a flat foam roof. I discovered the facia board had only one nail per stringer and pointed it out to the foreman, who immediately and cheerfully resolved the problem. Overall, I was very satisfied with the entire procedure, and I would use Lyons Roofing again. I was impressed by Lyons Roofing's 10 year leak warranty if caused by faulty materials or workmanship, and they honored the Angie's List promotion to add two additional years to the warranty period. A nice bonus for using Angie's List! So, I'm good to go until March 31, 2023.
Description of Work: Lyons Roofing performed repairs on a tile roof that covers a portion of a duplex building I own and rent out. They removed and stacked the tiles, tore off the underlayment, replaced rotten plywood and facia boards, put on new underlayment and battons, and replaced the tiles. They also did the necessary metal drip edge and other metalwork on the sides to ensure a watertight seal.

Lyons roofing Company didn?t charge me for their last visit. They had installed our roof a year ago, so we called them out thinking that the leak was from the roof. When they came out, they found out that the leak was from the side wall of the house. They tried to fix it as a courtesy call but they don?t do walls so it didn?t actually work. However, I felt that they did their best. The fact that they were willing to go up and check what was good. They even tried to fix it. They were really good. They were punctual. They were very clean and tidy. The quality of their service was really good. At the time of the re-roofing work, they made sure that they picked everything up from the yard because we have a dog. Also, the foreman came every morning to check how I felt about the ongoing work. He checked if I was upset about anything related to the re-roofing work. He came every evening and did exactly the same. He kept me up to date with what was happening from day to day. I thought that was really good. I thought they were amazing and I would absolutely consider using them in the future.
Description of Work: Lyons roofing Company came about month ago to check a leak on the side of the house. A wood pecker had made a hole so they tried to fix that.

I emailed Lyons Roofing to have them conduct an inspection of the roof to check for leaks, hail damage, and cosmetic damage. About two days later, I received a phone call to set up the inspection. The person who conducted the inspection showed up during the allotted time and inspected the roof. The inspector did not find any damage from hail or leaks. However, there was some cosmetic issues that needed to be addressed (ie...broken tiles and raised tiles). The estimate to correct these issues was approximately 196.00 dollars. The estimate was fair, so I made arrangements to have Lyons Roofing fix the problems. The date was set; however, Lyons Roofing changed the date and/or time 2 or 3 times because of staffing issues. Once the project was completed, Lyons Roofing adjusted my bill to approximately $177.00 dollars in order to compensate me for the scheduling changes. In the end, I was very happy with Lyons Roofing and would gladly use them again.

With the last 2 big storms the ceiling in one of our bathrooms buckled and water dripped into the wall as well. We had to poke a hole in the ceiling to get the water out. I called Lyons Roofing because they appear to have a stellar reputation--I checked Angie's List and a few similar websites. I left a message on Mar, 2nd, waited exactly 7 days, left another message on Mar. 9 (assuming they're very busy and perhaps my message just didn't get picked up). I stated that I understood they were probably swamped with work but could someone at least call me back to say either they're not doing any more estimates because they don't want to compromise the quality and integrity of their work OR they'll put my name on a list of customers to call back. I would have understood because I know reputable companies are booking 6-8 weeks out just for the estimates alone. I think I was patient enough to wait 2 weeks. Doesn't show much ''professionalism''.
Description of Work: No service was performed. Called to get an estimate on a big leak from the flat portion of our roof.

The staff at Lyon's roofing were all very nice. I waited a little over 24 hours for a schedule call-back and my appointment was set out for about a week. They were very clear on the fact that I had a wood shake roof needing maintenance and their company description said that they handled wood shake roofs. When John came out to look at my roof (early even), I thought we were doing great. It quickly became clear though that John didn't like wood shake roofs, and after he made a call to his boss, I was told they could not help me. Waste of time for all of us.

From initial contact through final inspection, absolutely outstanding service from everyone I dealt with. Although the most expensive of the bids I received, it was worth every extra penny spent. I ultimately went with Lyons because of the comfort and confidence I had in the company and its people. I almost wish that roofs needed more frequent replacement, simply to be able to work with professionals like this more regularly.

Our experience was great. The estimate process was good since the estimator was prompt and efficient. Scheduling was pretty easy as well. The day of the repair I was hoping for a bit earlier start since I had work commitments but once the repairs were started it was about 90 minutes to completion. The new skylight looks great and the cracked tiles are good as new!
Description of Work: We had a skylight and approx 16 roof tiles replaced.

The severity of the storm was such that all roofing companies in the valley we are affiliated with were scheduling out 4-8 weeks for estimates, and we are still scheduling out a minimum of 4 weeks. There were other 'roofers', including storm chasers from other parts of the country here to take advantage of the tremendous amount of business. Although we strongly recommend using an established, local and licensed contractor, someone who will be here long after the flurry ends to service you, we understand some people had a sense of urgency and were willing to use others to meet their time frame. We wish you the best in your roofing project.

Many of our neighbors experienced severe roof damage from the October hail storm. As a result, we requested a roof inspection from Lyons anticipating the worst. He spent quite a bit of time on the roof and came back with a report telling us he could not find any evidence of damage at all. His only recommendation was for routine maintenance next time it was due - a surprisingly refreshing honest approach when it would have been easy to take advantage of us. We would definitely call them for future roofing requirements.

Coordinating the work was painful. scheduling did not contact me until after the estimated range provided by the sales associate. Quality control issues were identified after the installation which manifested itself in the following ways: - foam residue over newly installed trim - two small areas of exposure susceptible to water penetration - large pockets of excess foam buildup preventing an overall consistent look. The General Superintendent was wonderful, he heard my concerns and promptly scheduled a return visit to grind down the excess foam, clean the trim and fill in the small gaps observed by him and his team. Overall this was still a painful experience however I greatly respect the companies desire to "get it right"
Description of Work: They were contracted to replace a shingle roof for a foam roof over a small 400 Sqft art studio in our back patio area that was suffering from extensive leaks. A trim was installed around the roof surface. A base coat and top coat was applied to the surface area.

Company made a great impression. Very responsive and prompt. Field rep was on time. Bid came in at 5,700. I had just received a bid from another company that was for 3,700. When I told the field rep that I had another bid much lower he immediately took off 1k. I went w/ the other company. Field rep made analogy during visit to the effect that if Lyon's were in the business of auto-repair, they would be the dealership. Quite accurate in terms of service level (good) and price (high).

They came out fairly quickly considering the overwhelming workload created by the heaviest rains in Phoenix in 30 years and gave an estimate. After getting approval from my insurance company, a start date was selected. They made several calls confirming the start time and date and showed up on the prescribed date with a good crew who removed the old roof and cleaned up very well. Later that day, another crew came and sprayed on the new foam roof and a sealer coat. They were very good at protecting the existing home with tarps and covers and cleaned up completely. We had another heavy rain the next day-Saturday-and no leaks. They even called Monday to make sure we had no problems. They came back a few days later and put on the final coat of roofing material, and later sent out an inspector to do a final check and give us our warrantee. Everyone was polite and thorough.

Sales person was very professional. Work crews were on-time and keep the area very tidy. Finished product was very attractive. It has been 2 years, and our roof (which used to leak during every storm) has been rock solid. The last storm we noticed a small leak, and they came out the next day and smeared some more goo in the problem area where the flat roof meets the angled roof. I am also working with Duane the service supervisor through the installation of a roof-mounted solar water heater, and he has been very professional and responsive. Price was not the lowest, but the construction experience and the post-construction warranty service experience justified the extra expense for us.
Description of Work: For our early 1980's-constructed home (3,000 sq. ft. + 3 car garage), replaced the entire roof including foam on the East and West wings and new concrete tile in the center. Discovered and replaced about 750 sq. ft. of plywood underlayment that had rotted.

Steve showed on a Friday for the estimate and guessed $6,000 - $7,000 to fix major areas of the roof. He mentioned it was going to take a long time and lots of money for this job. Then he said he would be back Monday to properly measure up and finalize a firm estimate. I have NOT SEEN HIM SINCE! Of course, I had other estimates and Steve's were disproportionately higher than the others to the tune of 10 TIMES HIGHER!!! This company sends out a letter prior to the estimate date advising they might not be the cheapest, but tells how they are the best, why and what suspect estimates to look out for. I knew going in that they might not necessarily be inexpensive, but I imagined I'd be okay paying the premium for a better service and peace of mind. Little did I know what the premium would be and by not returning, they never gave me the opportunity anyway to decide if indeed it was needed. Perhaps the job was just too small to be worth anything to them.

They were excellent. I interviewed a ton of roofers and actually signed with one who ended up cancelling the contract. They sent somebody out to analyze my roof who was a salesman, not a roofer. When the actual contractor showed up, they told me my entire roof needed to be redone and they tore up the contract. They made me feel like it was my fault. I called Lyons back, and they came out and did a wonderful job. They gave me the option of getting a 10-year warranty, and I did that, as well. I then referred them to my new husband, and he had his roof redone, too.
Description of Work: They installed a totally new roof.

We received a few estimates and I was impressed with Lyons Roofing. They tarped it until they were able to schedule and do the work. They were prompt, professional and cleaned up well when the job was completed.
Description of Work: We had wind damage on the 2nd story of our home on the roof. They repaired the roof.

Lyon's provided good quality work. They showed up on time to do the job. The work turned out just fine. They stayed pretty close with their original estimate as well.

It went well, using a DIFFERENT contractor!
Description of Work: They may do fine work, but they never had the chance here because their estimator submitted a bid that was, literally, 10 TIMES HIGHER than several of their competitors. To fix a minor leak, they proposed completely rebuilding half my roof at over $7000. I ended up paying less than $500 for a successful repair, tested by a heavy rainstorm a few days after completion.
