I am amazed with the results and I have to say that every question i had along the way was answered immediately and in a way that I can understand. I am an Accountant and the only thing that I really understand is the final cost. While it nearly killed me to shell out almost $40,000 for the addition, our new appraisal came in and the house is now worth $75,000 more than pre-remodel. Our old master bedroom is now bedroom number three and our new master is perfect. We finally got the huge bathroom that we have always wanted with a walk in shower big enough for 6 people and a giant jacuzzi tub, my wife is in heaven.
Description of Work: Kirk Development helped us get plans drawn up plans to add on a 4th bedroom and 3rd bathroom to our house and then executed those plans. They brought in several different subcontractors and managed the entire process.

It went very smoothly. I was able to do everything that needed to be repaired and replaced for a reasonable price so that I could stay within budget. I even did some of the work myself, which saved a bunch. The house looks great!
Description of Work: Kirk Development gave me great advice and referred me to some of their excellent subcontractors to help with storm damage to my roof, patio, and Air Conditioning unit.

We had used Kirk Developmet three years ago to remodel our master bathroom and were so pleased with their work, we didn't hesitate to call them again when we decided to do a number of projects this year. This was a multi-job project that took place over several months as we kept finding more things we wanted done. The first job was to gut the guest bathroom (except for the tub and toilet) and put in new ceramic tile in the shower, new glass sinks, new granite countertops, new cabinets, all new plumbing and electrical fixtures, and then paint the ceiling and walls. With the exception of a missing part for the shower fixture, everything went without a hitch! The work was quickly and efficiently done. All workmen arrived when they said they would. Everything as cleaned up when they left. The foreman was on hand every day to check up on the work and solve any questions that arose. The painter worked with me to find just the color I was picturing for the walls! The room looks beautiful and has received many compliments. Next we installed new glass in our skylights and cupola and had the foam roof refinished. That also all went according to plan and finished on time. Then we had the old ceramic tile floors removed and new ones put down. That happened with a minimum of dust and interruption to our lives. They were very caref ul to keep the dust and dirt contained and to replace all the appliances and make sure they were working properly. We also had them come out with an A/C specialist to suggest how we could add a second unit to the part of our house that was always too warm. That unit has made a huge difference in our comfort levels and reduced our electric bill. The last project was to get an estimate on raising the drop ceiling in our kitchen Tom Sertich brought his kitchen remodeling expert out to suggest how we could raise the dropped ceiling given that the A/C ducts ran above it. He came up with a cost effective solution which we will execute next year. We highly recommend Kirk Development for any job, large or small. Their attention to detail make them very easy to work with and their workers and sub-contractors are all tops in their fields.
Description of Work: Remodeled the guest bathroom; retiled the kitchen, bath, laundry and hall floors; replaced two skylights and the windows in the cupola; refinished the foam roof; added a second A/C unit in the far side of the house; worked up a plan to raise the dropped ceiling in the kitchen.

We contacted Kirk because they did our kitchen and we had a great experience then. They stayed true to form and the job ran cleanly and smoothly. The superintendent kept up informed at all times and kept the job moving. They completely gutted the guest bath and bedroom putting in new tile shower, vanity, granite top, toilet and flooring. They removed the acoustic ceiling, put in new base boards and painted. The guest area of our home is done now and wouldn't mind living in it ourselves! Thanks again guys.

Kirk Development is so experienced, so knowledgeable about products that are on the market and he has a very artistic stance of home design. I really enjoyed working with him a lot. He had a lot of good ideas for my home. We're still at the design stage but we haven't started talking about price yet. The big deal was so much for $59, the consulting was just more than worth it.
Description of Work: We talked about different things in the home that we need to remodel and there were several different places so he helped me to work up a design for each of those areas.

Good quality, showed up on time and professional. Only negative was a gap in the middle of over three weeks while we waited for countertops. While they were selected months earlier, they were not in stock, so overall project took longer than expected.

The day before our appointment I get a phone call from Barry saying he didn?t know I was in Ahwatukee and that they do not do work in my neighborhood. I find that a bit hard to believe, I would have preferred knowing this information up front as it was provided. Really strange.
Description of Work: Contacted Kirk Development and provided all my information to the receptionist including name, address and phone and a brief description of the project I wanted quoted. The receptionist put me on hold and then transferred me to another employee, I spoke with Barry. He was very friendly and courteous and we discussed my project. I wanted to extend my closet in the master bedroom over a deck. Barry knew exactly what I was talking about and discussed the different 2 story decks that were built in my neighborhood and asked which one I had. He even discussed how they had just done a similar job and discussed the cost of that project to see if we were on the same page. It was a bit higher than I expected but was within reason. We scheduled an appointment for the next week early in the morning to come take a look and quote the project.

I think Barry is all about the show. He puts on a good show. From the moment you try to schedule an appointment to coming out to the house. Barry visited my home on 7/30/2013 and I received his shopping list 8/9/2013. I really liked Barry but was disturbed when he looked in my refrigerator. I have a new one but it seems to me that my refrigertor is like looking in my purse and he did not ask, and I cannot figure out how that related to my kitchen remodel. He was asking about my kitchen lifestyle and how we did things, that seemed relevant thought. Don't have any work done without estimates and referrals. The high bids I have been getting from contractors and cabinet companies that do restoration are under $20,000. I have a 30 year old home in downtown Gilbert. The house value is currently $164,000 on Zillow.com. So, I have been worried about putting $20,000 into the kitchen, while I have made some other improvements to the home. My house is appx. 1400 sq. ft. My current bid is for removing the soffit whcih will raise the ceiling appx. 1 ft. and putting in new cabinets, stove and sink. IWhen you get bids from different companies and there is always one where the bid is much more than all the others. The prices for the cabinets is a normal price, but the demo and re-construcition is to high. I did not include the Pantry cabinets or shelves in the price above, they are an additional $8,300. I have calculated that this bid comes in close to $14,000 above others that I have received and they were all the same scope of work. Maybe some people have money to burn, but I don't. Here is Barry's bid: ?Sticks & Bricks? (Demolition & Re-Construction) $23,000. To remove the appliances, sink, tops, & cabinets; To remove the ceiling and lighting; and to remove the flooring. To move the peninsular toward the door & extend this peninsular. To relocate any electrical and install new ceiling lighting. To change the angle stops under the sink. To relocate the HVAC venting and the hood vent. To patch any wall damage and install new ceiling drywall. New cherry cabinets_________________________$10 - $12,000 New ?solid surface? tops______________________$ 5 - $ 6,000 New backsplash____________________________$ 2 - $ 2,500 Sink & Faucet _____________________________ By Owner Appliances_________________________________ By Owner Install & Finish: Install Owners sink & Faucet__________________$ 685 Install Owners Appliances____________________ $ 850 Trimout electrical & hang Owners fixtures________$ 650 Options: New storage cabinets (floor ? ceiling)____________$ 3,500 Add upper cabinets in Laundry_________________ $1,600 Remove pantry area & build new _______________ $3,200
Description of Work: Came to the house and gave a few good ideas. He provided charm and a sales show. When it got to money, he said he would send me a grocery list and I could choose what I wanted to do. At this point I knew his bid was going to be to high.

He was fine. I was undecided and I just never got back to him, because I wanted to use it and see what his ideas were, but I really wasn't ready at the time to do anything with it. I never had him really draw a design for me, although he kept in contact with me to be sure that I was ready, but I wasn't ready. It was more my fault. He was here when he was supposed to be. I think I would use him in the future, but I would make sure that I am ready next time.

Kirk Development provided an excellent graphic design with good ideas and plans. Although he indicated that prices could be adjusted to meet my budget, I felt the requested amount for my even limited plan was more than I could reasonably afford. I appreciated the quality and responsiveness of this company's service; however, I did not have them do the remodeling work.

The service went well. We waited about a month or so after we purchased the big deal. There were no additional charges other than $379 for what the big deal was for. It just turned out that they do not work at our area of town. So, they could not complete everything that was needed, but it was fine. We still got the design that we were looking for. In that sense, it was kind of a waste in having them to do from beginning to end kind of stuff. This was our first time to use them. It was convenient. They were nice. They were professional. I would recommend them to family members and friends.

The guy was good. He talked with me about what I wanted to be done. He came back with a drawing of his plan, and I like what he had drawn but I felt like the original agreement was we would only do things that would be appropriate for the value of our home. I do not want to over build or over improve. His plan was about half the price of our house. We just bought another house instead, because I thought it would make more sense. He has great ideas. He was very good, very nice and very knowledgeable, but I just cannot accept the service because of the price.

We purchased the custom kitchen design with measurements and consultation coupon from Angie's List. We really liked Barry and had planned on moving forward with Kirk. I'm not sure what sort of design would be provided if you were just looking for a design and didn't plan on Kirk doing the work - we had multiple consultations before we had a final design. Kirk Development was hired to complete the kitchen/laundry remodel which included gutting the entire space and reconfiguring the layout - as well as remodeling a fireplace. As someone that's been through several remodels - including gutting a 3000 sq ft house - I have some experience interacting with contractors and remodeling. Our contractor, Don, was easy to work with and personable. His attention to detail and desire for a perfect end result was much appreciated. Because we had several issues come up during the remodel, we met several supervisors and other staff - all that were great to work with. Several of the subs or Kirk recommended vendors - including our plumber and cabinet maker - were fabulous. We were not so lucky with the granite installer that came highly recommended by Kirk, or the drywallers. Yes, the counters look great but the headaches getting there were unnecessary. And it felt like we were guinea pigs as Kirk tried to find a new approved drywaller. Living in a house during a remodel is one of the most stressful things you can do. Now that we are several months post construction we can look at the space and, although there are things we would have changed, are happy with the final result. My biggest complaint about Kirk is their project management timing. I understand having multiple projects at once but I don't understand when days would go by that no one was here working. Specifically our fireplace wall that took much longer to complete than it should have. Nor do I understand having the supervisor of a project spend time on 'grunt' work - hauling trash etc.

There was extensive water damage to my unit from a leak in an upstairs unit. My neighbor's insurance company sent over some people who tore out the bathroom and left the pieces in my living room. We had a good relation with Kirk Development project lead, Nathan. Making schedules work (around our on-off times) was a priority and appreciated. Nathan and his team worked with us as we gently uncovered and repaired problems with the home - original manufacturer shortcuts. Then, as we decided how much work to do remodeling the discussed pros and cons of various improvements and helped us settle on the right work for our circumstance. Making the mods and finishing it off with a fresh coat of paint, trim and final cleanup made the house much more pleasing to us. We are very happy with the end-to-end service we received.
