I located Mr. Blake from the U-Haul website, the link to movinghelpers.com. I should have read carefully the instructions on the movinghelpers.com website. According to the website, I was to contact movinghelpers.com directly myself, contract with them, provide my credit card number, and movinghelpers then pays their affiliates once the action is satisfactorily completed. Instead I contacted Mr. Blake directly from the movinghelpers.com website, without going thru movinghelpers. Mr. Blake responded very posiitively when I called, as he realized I had walked into his web without going thru movinghelpers. He sized me up like the spider that he is, and moved in for the kill. First, he wanted $1000 in cash up front. I made the mistake of handing it over to him. According to an unofficial document that I drafted and he signed, he was to show up next morning and help me load the U-Haul; we were to leave for Florida together the day afterwards. On the morning of the load up, Mr. Blake showed up an hour late-- clearly in a hangover mode. He had hired two men from Labor Ready or Temp Services to help him load. He verbally abused them and reviled them the whole time. As I stood by watching, I felt sorry for the men who had to endure his verbal abuse. The night before we were to leave, he phoned me to explain that he was dissatisfied with the flight home. He said he wanted a direct flight from Tampa to Phoenix, not a flight with a stop and connection in Houston. I explained that a direct flight was not available. He countered that a direct flight truly was available, as he had just checked it on the internet. I answered that flight availability changes hourly; what was available right then was not the same as what was available earlier. He paused and finally said that he didn't feel inclined to drive to Tampa with me after all. He said he had reserved the U-Haul for me at considerable discount (a lie), and loaded it up professionally, and that alone was worth the 1000 I had already paid him. So in the end I drove the UHaul to Florida myself and hired an additional two guys from Labor Ready to help me unload. I am also stuck with a non-refundable one-way flight from Tampa to Phoenix. Essentially I paid Jerad Blake $1000 to load up a truck and stick me with a nonrefundable unusable airline ticket. Jerad Blake also advertises himself as a nonsmoker. That's a lie. He's a chain smoker. I asked UHaul and movinghelpers.com for assistance with this man, over his defrauding me, but both organizations said they could do nothing about it. Jerad Blake is a liar and a thief; apparently also has a drinking problem. He curses and abuses the men he hires to work for him-- or at least he abuses them when in hangover mode. Far from recommending him to anybody, I would rather sue him in small claims court. But he knew I would be leaving town and moving to the other end of the continent, so he knew there would be no chance of that. He sized up his prey and moved in accordingly. I have seen on some other website that Mr. Blake is able to respond to complaints. In one such, Mr. Blake says his customer "obviously" has mental problems. I seriously doubt it. The problems are all with Jerad Blake.
Description of Work: Initially we agreed, in writing, that he would load up my U-Haul, help me drive it across the country (Phoenix AZ to Sarasota FL), then help me unload it, after which I would pay for his one-way flight back to Arizona. He showed up to help me load, then kept the money and flaked out of the rest.
