It looks like the improvements really helped my HVAC system and the overall comfort of the home, now that I have had enough time to evaluate it. The heater did not have to work as hard to heat the house and now that it is hot enough to use the A/C. The air conditioner seems to work a lot better as well. I'm giving them only a B because they did some damage to my bathroom ceiling. I understand in this kind of work you work around sensitive areas and tight spaces, so they won't be perfect each time. Unfortunately I was the one to suffer from the imperfections.
Description of Work: Seal leaks in air ducts, improve attic insulation, and add a return line to A/C.

No complaints. As expected he told me about leaks in my air ducts. I was also informed about problems with my attic insulation and my air conditioner needing another return line. I did some research and it all seems accurate. I will write another review after I get the work done that they recommend.

Not well. Spent a lot of money and saw no difference in my energy usage. First company that did the energy audit said I did not need insulation. Ideal Energy said that I did need insulation. I should have listened to the first company. APS did not seem concerned when I notified them of my concern. APS HOME ENERGY PROGRAM- BUYER BEWARE Under the Arizona Public Service (APS) Home Energy Program, I received energy audits from two companies APS had listed in their program. Magic Touch Air Conditioning and Heating concluded on September 27, 2011, “the insulation in your home is adequate” but recommended duct-sealing. On July 28, 2015, I had a second evaluation done by Mr. Alex Williams of Ideal Energy who told me that I needed $1,900 worth of insulation as well as duct-sealing. They used a heat-sensing device to show me hot spots on my interior walls near where they meet the exterior walls that led me to believe that, in fact, I did need additional insulation. I asked Mr. Williams why he thought Magic Touch would say that my insulation was adequate. Mr. Williams said that Magic Touch doesn’t do much insulation work themselves and that they contract it out and don’t make much on it. I hired Ideal Energy to seal my ductwork in 2015 and add insulation in early 2016. As of the end of July, 2016 I have seen absolutely no reduction in my energy use compared to the same months before I had the ducts sealed or the insulation installed. We have kept our thermostat at the same temperature setting pre and post-insulation until the end of July 2016. I then belatedly called Magic Touch and asked them if they do their own insulation work. They said they do and that they do a lot of it. I called APS who connected me with Greg Morris, Energy Auditor with FSL Home Improvements, the contractor that administers this program for APS. Mr. Morris came to our house on July 5 and he could not explain why I had not realized any energy savings. I asked him to point his heat-sensing device at the walls where Ideal Energy had detected hot spots. Mr. Morris also had high temperature readings in these areas but said it is “normal” and not possible to insulate those corner areas very well. Mr. Morris said it looked like Ideal Energy had done a good job on both the duct-sealing and the insulation installation. Mr. Morris asked me why I didn’t go with the recommendation of Magic Touch. I told him it was because of the temperature readings Mr. Williams showed me on my walls. He suggested I contact Ideal Energy. After a phone call and an email, I finally reached Mr. Williams at Ideal Energy, explained my concern, and he said he would send Chris out. Mr. Williams requested my energy usage for the past 2 years and I sent it to him on September 26. I also contacted Marla at FLS and she said that they only are involved with making sure the work is done properly and not whether or not it is actually needed in the first place. She said perhaps we didn’t see any energy savings but that maybe the house was more comfortable after the work was done. In August and September, 2016, after noticing no reduction in our energy use (or bill) from the new insulation and duct sealing, we started to use ‘super-cooling’, keeping our thermostat at about 68 or 70 degrees from 7 pm until noon and at 79 the remainder of the day. We reduced our peak hours energy use under the APS "Time Advantage" program by over half, saved money and, surprisingly, even reduced our over-all energy use. Mr. Williams and his staff contacted me and set up an inspection of the work done for October 20. Mr.Williams inspected the work and did a pressure test with a fan in the door and checked all the vents. He concluded that there were a few areas that could use more insulation and sealing. His crew did the additional work on Oct. 21. Mr. Williams asked me to send him the comparison data from APS for the past two years and that he would try to "drill down" and find out why we had seen no reduction in energy use. I sent him that information on Nov. 7, 2016. As of July 3, 2017, I have not heard back from Mr. Williams. As of May, 2017, absent the ‘super-cooling method’ we still have seen no reduction in our energy use. I suspect that the first contractor was right, that I did not need any additional insulation in the first place. My advice to future potential participants in this program is to get an unbiased evaluation from a professional not connected with this program who is not in the business of selling or installing insulation or sealing ductwork (perhaps a good home inspector) before deciding whether or not to participate. We contacted them to take advantage of the SRP rebates to repair ductwork and add insulation and registers to two Arizona rooms. They also performed an energy audit (also a SRP rebate). The audit was very thorough and included pictures of areas where they recommended repairs. When performing the work the crew was professional, applying plastic in the pantry where the attic access is located to prevent insulation from making a mess, and vacuuming the house after they were done. All the work was completed as described. Overall, a very good experience.
Description of Work: Energy audit. Added registers to two Arizona rooms. Insulated the attic above the two Arizona rooms and increased insulation of the whole house. Connected one register the home builder didn't connect. Sealed existing ductwork as required.

Theo, Christian and the whole team were professional, my wife and I felt and observed that they took pride in their work. We were grateful that they took time to answer any concerns or questions we had. They covered their shoes so as to not track dirt into the house and cleaned-up the garage and even vacuumed the house after their work was complete. We are noticing a difference in the house already. We heartily recommend Ideal Energy LLC.
Description of Work: Ideal Energy LLC recently performed an energy efficiency upgrade to our attic. They sealed any and all openings between the attic and our house, including around each register, removed old insulation, replaced duct work, adjusted the ducts in order to more effectively move air, especially into the master suite and added insulation to bring the insulation up to R38.

Description of Work: They sealed all the flexible ducts at airhandlers, junction boxes, and outlet registers, added additional blown insulationin my attic space, added addition support to ducts to prevent kinks, sealed open spaces to eliminate air leakage at fire place penetration, and sealed intake plenum to one air handler. They did good work and told me to call them in about a year and if I'm unhappy with any of the work and they addrees it.

Elena and Ben were very thorough in doing the audit. Elena even cut open a sealed attic hatch to see that side of the house and found poor insulation. They also took photos. Chris and his crew then did the duct sealing and insulation and installed the new air return. They arrived punctually at 6am and worked straight through till 3:20pm. They were very professional and cleaned up afterwards. The air flow in the house is noticeably better, especially in the one bedroom - it's now very comfortable. Elena sent in the paperwork for the rebates, which take 6-8 weeks. Total cost after rebates is about $3000. I would definitely recommend Ideal Energy- they know their stuff, are very professional and don't push unnecessary upgrades
Description of Work: Elena from Ideal Energy performed a $99 home energy audit through SRP's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. The audit took about 2 hours and involved a blower test to check for whole house leakage and going up in the attic to look at insulation levels and ductwork, as well as checking individual room pressures. They asked if I had any particular problem areas and I mentioned one bedroom gets hot and stuffy. Two weeks later they gave me a report with recommendations and annual cost savings and available SRP rebates. After doing some more research I agreed to have them seal the registers and ductwork, seal air barriers, add insulation (both fiberglass batting and blown-in cellulose) and add an additional air return on the opposite side of the house to improve air flow.

We purchased an older home in April of 2013 with an original AC unit (30 years old). We scheduled an audit, paid for by SRP, with Ideal Energy. They were here for 3 hours checking everything, then they sat with me and went over their findings. We then received a quote to insulate our attic and seal connections to keep the AC in the house and not cool the attic. Took us several months to save the money but we finally were able to have them out the past two days to have the work done. They arrived 10 min early on Monday but did NOT come to the door until exactly 7am, the scheduled time, which I REALLY appreciated. They got straight to work in the attic realigning existing batts, sealing all connections up there and then installing our new return. They worked a hard 8 hours, no slacking at all. I don't even know when they had lunch. They returned on time again on Tuesday to blow new insulation in and seal all our supply's in the house. Again they worked hard and long. Tuesday was a half day with us. The PM's, Pat and Chris, were very respectful and knowledgeable. The crew was respectful and very hard working. They cleaned up after themselves each day and left no debris behind. They took care to lay tarps down when inside the house in the areas they would be working. We cannot wait to use our AC this summer and SAVE $$$$. We turned the AC on last night for a bit and it only took 10 mins to cool us down when before the unit would run an HOUR. We can feel a difference already. Thank you Ideal Energy.

Ideal Energy came out to my home on time as scheduled. They spent several hours inspecting the A/C units, pool pumps, insulation, windows, duct work, lighting, etc. They also conducted several tests within the home. Once they were done, they set up an additional apt. to come back and review all the results. Ideal Energy came back to my home to follow up and review their findings and make suggestions as to what I could do to improve and make my home more energy efficient. They were very professional and pointed out what improvements would make the biggest impact and give me the most bang for my buck. They are a great company to work with and are very knowledgable.

Audit: Went perfectly, Elana and Alex installed plastic protection the 1/2 bath where the attic access was, did the testing and inspection and left me with a complete report and everything cleaned up. Insulation and duct work: The team of 3 associates from Ideal arrived exactly at the appointed time of 8 AM. They set up the plastic protection in the 1/2bath and tarps from the front door to the 1/2 bath. The team was up in the attic 2+ hours doing the duct sealing, re-routing and corrections needed. They sealed the high pressure points on the HVAC air handlers. They took pictures of all the work and showed them to me. I also was up in the attic on several occasions checking what they were doing. The drilled 4 iinch holes in the air handler deck to blow insulation under the deck. They refreshed the insulation in 2/3 of the house (to add to places disturbed by their repair work and blew in the 6 inches to the west side to raise it to R38. They replaced the air return grills with low pressure grill. That was the extent of the work I ordered. They RETESTED the whole house and each duct for leakage. The hole in my house was 11 inches at the audit and 9 inches after the work. All ducts had ZERO or negligible leakage. They tested the CO emissions from my gas water heater. They cleaned up, vacuumed up all dust and left after 4 + hours. SUPERB work!!!
Description of Work: I hired Ideal energy to do an SRP subsidized energy audit of my home. They did a fantastic job. Test whole house leakage, duct leakage, inspected the duct system, HVAC units and insulation depth in the attic. Their report was provided at the time of the audit along with recommendations to improve the AC cooling of the west side of my home (hotter than east side). I hired them to do duct sealing, re-routing of kinked duct lines, fixing a poorly run duct to a bedroom and adding 6 inches of insulation to my west side. The house was built with R38 in the attic, however it appears the west side only got R22.

Their energy audit was terrific. They arrived punctually, explained in detail what they would be doing and proceeded to do the audit. When they were done with the audit work, they took about 45 minutes and wrote up a report that included pictures and documentation of issues. We then hired them to do the recommendations. Their crew arrived punctual, were very pleasant to work with, they were hard working. It was three guys working for about 10 hours. Before they left, they repeated the system air flow tests and documented for us the before and after numbers. We couldn't be happier with the results. Anyone interested in reducing their energy bills should consider hiring them to review their home.
Description of Work: They initially did an energy audit in connection with APS. Subsequently, they cam and did duct sealing, duct restriction changes, sealing air vents and insulation.
