I purchased this AC system from Howard Air. All dealings with the company have been courteous and professional. The service people know their stuff and take care of any needs. I had the fan motor leaking oil so the tech ordered the replacement and installed it a couple of weeks later. I have been very happy with the system and the staff at Howard Air. I will continue to use them for service on the existing AC unit and will look to them in the future for a new system when needed.

Called on Saturday afternoon and made an appointment for Monday morning. Technician arrived on time and found the problem pretty quickly. He quoted a price of $216 for hot surface ignitor for my heating unit (after 10% Angie's list discount). He completed all work in an hour (diagnosis to installation). After looking up the part post-installation, I learned that is but a less than $40 part. I don't mind paying for installation, but it took about 20 minutes for him to install. Even at half an hour of service to install + the part should be less than $100. The technician was great. He was thorough and professional. But I am greatly disappointed in being charged $216.52 for a $40 part. I can certainly recommend Howard Air from a service perspective, but you'll want to know the actual costs of the parts yourself before committing them to complete the work.

Also, internet parts are not identical to the parts being used. Along with the installation of the part we inspect your system for any additional areas which could cause failure to your system. So, we hope even with our great review and grade we did not deter you from calling upon us in your time of need. Integrity and honesty is very important to us and is why we have flat rates for our service technicians as opposed to commission or hourly rates like the majority of other companies. They did a great job. We had one air handler that went out on us, they did a repair to just get it up and running while the new ones were being installed. The installation went very smooth, on time, and with no glitches. The guys were very punctual, professional, and did an outstanding job. They covered everything so as not to damage, they wore their booties to protect the floors. I could not ask for better service, just love Angies list. I liked this company so much that I went with a 5 year service contract with them. There was a couple of screws which came through the ceiling, but they had an outstanding dry wall guy out within two days, had the problem fixed in no time. It is not often that you find a company like Howard Air, highly recommended.

The estimator was very knowledgeable and professional. He went into the attic with a video camera and then showed us the pictures of what he discovered. He pointed out several areas of concern including problems with our skylights. We went with a company that is local and was less expensive, but it also was for a less expensive unit than the Trane which Howard Air had quoted. I would definitely recommend this company.

Description of Work: I called Howard AIr from Denver repair the heat pump for a rental unit we own in Peoria AZ. They were very professional and went out of thier way to be sure my rentor was taken care of. They scheduled the service call with my rentor and did not leave until my rentor and I were satisfied with thier work. I will call them again when I need help.

After a terrible experience with American home Shield. I gave up and came to Angies list. I found Howard air to be empathetic and responsive. Instead of immediately scheduling an appointment. Ray took the time to ask me a few questions about my unit. He explained to me the defrost cycle involved with the heat pump. After following his directions, the heater started blowing warm air. This was all over the phone. I have never talked to a air conditioning or heating repair company before that actually took the time to try to solve a problem without trying to make a quick buck. When I do have an issue with my heating and air-conditioning, I will definitely call Howard air and just bypass the rest. I value honesty and integrity above all.

He was able to preform the extra recommendations on site. Quick - Professional - On time - Honest. John is great over the phone - really friendly service. They will not sell you stuff you don't need. Wish I had used them from the beginning!

Great. No heat in one part of house. Called company that we have used in the past. They came out..said they couldn't do anything because it was an electrical problem. Called an electrician. The electrician replaced a circuit breaker. Called the AC people back to repair or replace AC compressor. They said we needed a new one. Said they would have a proposal ready on Monday. Since we had had these people out many times before, I was not confident that they were giving us the right information, so we called Howard Air for a second opinion. Accepted their proposal and purchased two units.
Description of Work: Air Conditioning/Heat Compressor Had gone out. Needed estimate for repair or replacement. Decided to purchase two AC units.

Description of Work: Howard's did a fall tuneup on a heat pump at a condo I purchased last summer. The technician was on time and did an excellent job, even crawling through my attic to check the unit that was up there. Two parts that were under warranty were replaced. He also answered all questions I had about the unit as I have never owned a heat pump before. All in all a very pleasurable experience.

They did a pretty basic look over of the system. We are moving into a new house and wanted the units looked at and prepped for the winter. They did a good job, but I didn't realize it was for either air conditioning OR heating, not thew hole unit. In any case, they went ahead and looked over everything and gave us some recommendations for future service. They were very prompt and courteous.

for the sake of your time schedule Howards; according to yourschedule and the when you want it done, think ahead call 1-4 weeks ahead and ask for the first appoint to do your maintaince work. This not a guarantee but it has never failed with me. They are always there @ <> 8:00am. They don't show you a picture of what is wrong they take you up to the unit and show which part needs to be changed, options if any and if you can understand their utensils use show you why sommething replacing or new.
Description of Work: i HAVE A LENNEX A/C. Once a year cleaning and and routine check approx. $50.00 End of year new filter [ a special very expensive filter - electronic filter ending up with approx $200.00] The longer I have the new unit the more I feel easier breathing as the filter and ultra violet light inside the machine really are worth it Considering that the old unit required a new [approx $30.00} filter every month and did not have the ultraviolet addition I feel it comes out almost even. Howard air has always be on time even though [understandably] give you a 2-3 hr. time spand so far they have always been there within in the first 2 hrs.ususally the first time spot they give you. They always clean up post work and will take the time to explain any part of running the automatic thermostat etc.

The experience has been great. I had an issue on Thanksgiving day after the initial installation and they sent someone out immediately. The effort expended was above and beyond what I would have expected. Their service men are thorough and in a word "professional."

Discounted check-up was helpful. They upsold us on some parts that they said were necessary due to the age of our units, but it doesn't seem like that's what they put in. Also a long wait to fulfill the original request

The technician inspected the HVAC on my son's home. After inspection, he reported that the system was unsafe. He reported that he had turned the system off and disconnected it. He was quite efficient and believeable. We asked for a second opinion from another company who agreed with him in every respect. We replaced the entire HVAC system with another company, simply because we had worked with the other company before.
Description of Work: Inspection of our HVAC at the end of the summer.

I didn't do any comparison shopping or get estimates and so did not rate the price, but the service performed seemed reasonable for the age of the unit. The A/C blew much colder after the service was performed.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's list deal for service. When I called to setup the service, they were very nice about letting me know what was included and not included, their services are listed on their website and prices are pretty clear for maintenance. I needed the refrigerant topped off and there was some bearing play, so a part was replaced to keep the motor running longer.

Howard Air sent out a tech very promptly - the tech was courteous, quick, and very professional.
Description of Work: I was experiencing an odor that had me concerned - I thought that it might have been burning or overheating of elements in my air conditioner. The service tech checked out the entire system and assured me that there was nothing wrong and that my unit was in great shape, a comfort since I had just bought the house a couple of months earlier and had not been through a summer with the A/C yet.

Howard Air was called early in the morning (approx 0700). They accommodated me with a technician being dispatched shortly after 0800. Howard Air also was able to accommodate the situation where the owner of the house (my sister) was absent and I would be meeting the technician at the pre-planned time and to make decisions and payment. I met the technician, Mike, at the arranged time and place. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and receptive to me being present during his rooftop diagnosis. He showed me his findings and provided his recommendations each step of the way. This service call resulted in a possible temporary quick fix where Freon was added to the system. Mike reminded me that these AC units are a closed system and if Freon is missing, their likely is a leak. The question is how fast. No obvious leaks were detected. For the moment, I elected to replace the Freon and "wait and see". Hopefully, the system will last for many more years but.... if not, I'll be calling Howard Air for a quote! I sincerely respect this company for not hustling me for a new system install without prudent evaluation.
Description of Work: I was asked by the homeowner, my sister, to have her heat pump diagnosed and repaired since there was no heat the previous night. I had a very positive experience with Howard Air in the recent months on a rental I own and elected to have them fix the heating problem at this residence, which is not my own. The problem was diagnosed as the rooftop heat-pump being low in Freon. The unit is approximately 15 years old. The unit was recharged with 2 pounds of Freon and is back up and running. Additionally, Mike, the technician, gave me honest options for making my repair decisions that I felt were true and reasonable. I realize there are no guarantees but the selected resolution fit my need the best.

Have used Howard Air in past for installing air conditioner. Would definitely use them again as they are always professional. I would (and have) recommend them to anyone wanting a fair deal with exceptional service.
Description of Work: Howard Air performed 3 Heating Inspections on my home (2) as well as a rental home (1). All work fine.
