The rep. from Howard Air arrived on time. He was very pleasant and did a good job of servicing and checking to see if all was well with our a/c. I would recommend him to friends and neighbors as well as I would certainly use Howard Air again in the future because I trust them and the price was reasonable.

We were so happy with the work on the AC/Furnace that we decided to go with a new evaporative cooler. The AC/Furnace went textbook perfect, but there were some hiccups getting the evap finished up. Bottom line is Howard Air did all the right things to finish the job and we're very satisfied with all. The only thing I would say is to pay close attention to the work order to make sure all the items that you want are listed. There seems to be some disconnect between the office and the field, so the more detail and clarity that is on the contract/work order, the better the chance of the technicians of getting things right the first time. If something seems not exactly as you expect, tell the technicians right away. These guys are all very approachable and responsive. They do want to get things right. A couple of other things that I was so impressed with was how well they protect against getting things dirty and how well they do cleaning up. Best I've ever seen from any kind of contractor. They also exceeded my expectations in a case where some drywall was damaged from cutting an opening for a duct. The drywall was in bad shape anyway and it really was not their fault, but they sent a drywall guy to fix it up, and they matched the texture perfectly.
Description of Work: Installed a new AC/Furnace unit and a new evaporative cooler along with all the ducting.

We have always used another AC company for annual check ups, but based on the recommendation of a co-worker and the Angies List reviews, we changed to Howard Air. My 2nd story AC was struggling so I spoke with John at the office to set something up. John was great to deal with and very professional. We set up a tech (Romeo) to come out the following day which impressed me being that spring AC checks in Phoenix are hard to schedule. Romeo said that our system is at the end of its useful life and I should prepare for a new system. I valued his recommendation b/c he didn't push me to spend a lot of money now. He was able to get the system up and running and said that it will work for a while but it is hard to tell how long. He could have said the system was junk and should be replaced immediately. We had lost the majority of our freon since last year so basically the leak is pretty large. Before he recommended anything, he listened to my story / decription fully. He re-charged the system and said that it might last the summer or might not, but he said at least this will buy some time to figure things out. We decided to schedule an estimate. I will write another review if / when we get the new unit installed.
Description of Work: My AC was not performing well and it turns out that I needed a freon charge. The gentleman that came out (Romeo) measured and filled the system to get it up and running again and made some recommendations for what to do moving forward.

Overall experience was good. When I called for appointment they scheduled us a week out which was okay I'm March but hopefully they could be more punctual if we need a repair in the middle of summer. They were right on time for the appointment and the work that was performed on the A/C was fair. The serviceman suggested a maintenance contract to me which I purchased because it saved me money on work performed that day. Serviceman was polite and seemed very knowledgable . I will use this company again and will have them give me a bid on a new system when necessary.
Description of Work: Performed pre season check on aging A/C unit. Had to replace a couple of capacitors and add some freon.Serviceman was very polite and explained that the unit was aging and would need replacing soon, which I already knew.

We started with an estimate, which turned out to be the lowest of 3 companies that we contacted. They allowed us to extend the time the estimate was good due to refinancing our house. They arrived on time to install the system and were done the same day. They corrected a problem we had with our duct work so that all of our rooms are the same temperature now. The only complain I had was they didn't clean up very well, but they came back and checked to make sure all the ducts were clean.
Description of Work: They sold us a new A/C system with a heat pump. They installed it and fixed a problem with our ducts.

Prices were a bit high when compared to other places but you get what you pay for and it wasn't that much more than competitors to not justify the higher quality expertise. Worth the money spent for sure.
Description of Work: The technician that came out was very knowledgeable and provided in sight into the AC units history for the new house I just purchased. He advised of some serious issues with the unit and how we could rectify them instead of purchasing a new unit. Very honest company.

The serviceman was David, who called beforehand and showed up right on time. He was courteous and neat and wore booties. He checked the A/C and made sure it was ready for summer. He also checked the water heater. I'd used them in the past and they were always prompt and friendly. While he was here, he found that I needed a new capacitor (for about $154) and recommended that I get that taken care of before winter. He took care of getting it replaced right away that day.

Overall, the experience was fairly long and drawn out. The pricing was far out of our budget. And, the technician, although friendly, talked far too much about meaningless subjects. We actually went with a company that was considerate of our budget and handled the situation more professionally.
Description of Work: Inspection and estimate for repair or replacement of our dual AC/Heating units. Technician explained he would go back to the office and draw up an "engineering" plan and how the work would be performed.

This part of our consultation is so vital to the discovery of potential issues in the ability to deliver the level of comfort customer’s desire. We know by providing this in the valley for over 30 years that any company can sell a box to a new customer but the amount of engineering that is involved with the installation should not be trusted to just anyone. We work with many kinds of budgets and understand this drives many decisions that are made but we promise to never cut corners to make a “sale”. They replaced both air conditioners. They redesigned the ductwork. They did all the air-conditioning in the house. Their quality of work was fine. They designed a new system for us. They did a nice job. It seems to be much more energy efficient than the old system was. The new system they installed is about six months old or so and so far no problem with the design or execution. I had a good experience working with Howard Air. I had a good time with them. They are very easy to work with. They are very professional. They showed up when they said they would. They were very careful and very professional.

It went great. Schedule time for visit was 8 to 12 and at 8 AM the bell rang. Gave me a few tips.
Description of Work: I have had other Tech's at my house and all performed with outstanding ability. Today it was Dave. I was do for the yearly inspection of my 1 year old Trane that I bought from them. It has worked at perfection and I was not expecting an issue and none was forthcoming.

During the visit, the Technician stated that he thought that inappropriate venting material was used to vent flue pipe, but I contacted builder's warranty representative, and he confirmed that the material was within code. The venting material issue posed a little bit of inconvenience, but I checked it out to be sure. I would rather be safe than sorry. Howard Air's service technician was polite, professional, efficient, and on time. Overall, the experience was positive.
Description of Work: Spring tune-up to HVAC was performed which included flushing condensate line and checking/spraying exterior AC compressor unit and checking equipment in attic. The service was purchased as an Angie's List special. No repair work was needed nor performed.

We were very happy with the improved efficiency and performance of the new heat pump and happy with the service we received from Howard Air.
Description of Work: Assessed a non-working heat pump. They then sent a salesman out to our home to provide new heat pump options. Once we selected the appropriate heat pump their crew installed a new heat pump. They were on time, professional, and cleaned up the work area. A representative then came out after the installation to inspect the work.

Description of Work: Ordered service from out of state over phone. Responsive, pleasant, informative on phone. Also talked with tech after his checking the AC/heaters in home daughter lives in. No repairs were needed but did suggest heater coils/duct cleaning later this year.
