I received a quick response after purchase and they were very accommodating to my crazy schedule. Even though I work 3 jobs and didn't have a lot of spare time they were able to book my appointment the next week. A Little problem with communication. Somehow my appointment didn't make it into their books as my appointment time of 9 to 12 came and went with no contact. Called Howard Air and they were very apologetic and got me scheduled for the following week. They would have done it later that same day or the next day but my schedule didn't allow for it. Appointment came and Tyler came out to service fairly early in my 9 to 12 time frame. He was polite, professional, and didn't try to upsell anything. He was quick and efficient. Other then the small issue with scheduling I was very happy with the service provided by Howard Air.

The Technician was very prompt and courteous. He was also very knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do once I described the problem. The unit in question is about 20 years old, and he is the FIRST Tech that didn't try to sell a new system to me. This in itself was impressive and much appreciated. The entire process took a couple of hours, and felt that he did a thorough job. After both upstairs and downstairs units were inspected and running perfectly he surprised me with one of the most reasonable bills I have ever had, and it did include the Angie's List discount. I am defininately keeping their card on file for future use.

They came out on time, and as a matter of fact a few minutes early. They completed, and the only thing that went wrong was that when the technician left, he left without plugging the unit back in. After I realized the problem, I called him and he came right back over and he checked and discovered that he forgot to plug it back in. He was back within 20-30 minutes of my calling about the issue.

Howard Air sent out a great sales agent -Scott Bird. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a system to install in my remodeled home. I had bids from 3 other companies. Scott helped me understand the shortcomings from each of those bids. Scott put together a superior package (the same one he installed in his home) and for a slight increase in cost, we got a superior A/C package. Then Scott came back several times during installation and after, to make sure things were right. The installers did a killer job, leaving no detail untouched. The installers wrapped the air plenums with reflective insulation. They wrapped the A/C pedestals with galvanized metal to help prevent damage to the pedestal. (The previous units had leaked and water damaged the pedestals slightly.) Then, the installers came back later to measure the temperature and flow at each duct to make sure the system was running properly. I paid a tiny bit more for the Howard installation but they did a stellar job in getting me the best units and installing them correctly. Great group of people to work with.

I guess it was okay. He was pleasant and came and he did told us that we had some problems with the unit. I don't know there is no way of we have knowing whether we really did or not, so I am assuming that he was honest with us, but it did end up costing me $500 or something dollars. I just hoping that what was done it is really needed to be done. Being a laid person not knowing anything about it not having anybody to check it, can't say for sure that I needed the service that he said I needed, but I took his word at it and paid the price and he was pleasant and did the service so I can't say that I was displeased or I was little unhappy that I had to pay so much, but if I needed it I needed it I just have no way of showing. It was very prompt service and they came when they said they would and that end was very good. With the service us he gave us for $50 more that was to certify the work for a year or something like that. As far as I know everything was fine although it is a fairly new unit and he said that certain kind of part had to be on it as it didn't come with the manufacturer. We have had somebody else before they never mentioned that to us and then all of a sudden he said well you need to have this so I don't know. I can't say that they did anything wrong. I don't have anything to base it on except that I know they were prompt, they came when they said they did and year before when they came out they just looked out the unit and said everything fine you don't need anything as we cleaned it everything looks great, nothing to worry about. This year it is like where you should have this part that you didn't have as this would protect the unit. As long as it was under warranty you are okay, now it is not, if anything happens it can really big you better protect yourself. I didn't know how much of it was hype and how much of it was actually needed. Like I say being a woman and not getting up on the roof, not knowing anything about it, if I did look at it, I just took his words for it and paid it.

I'm very impressed with Howard Air and Bryan, my assigned tech. First of all, I am an AC novice. After I purchased the coupon, the company called to discuss specific issues with me and made me feel very comfortable with what they would be doing. Today I called to confirm the appointment and realized that I should have purchased two coupons since I have two separate units. John was kind enough to honor the Angie's List coupon for the 2nd service even though the deal had expired. As for the service itself, I appreciate all the time that Bryan spent explaining options to me. My house is older and although the units are new, they were run during a remodeling without a filter. As a result, both units needs service to get rid of a problem that I'm having. Although some of this technically fell outside of the coupon services, Bryan took the time to do a good assessment and lay out some options for getting additional needed work done cost effectively. I felt very comfortable with all the options presented and I have a good maintenance plan set up for the next year. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to explain what I needed right now, what could wait and then what we'd do after this year's services were done. As I said, I'm a complete novice - or I was prior to this service!

Truly impressive service. The visit for an estimate was the most thorough I've ever seen. The estimate involved a review of the entire house including the attic and exterior. Measurements were taken and videos were shared wirelessly with the office and a new system was proposed based on engineering specific to our house. Several suggestions were made and ideas shared about the needs for our home that none of the other companies brought up. We received a proposal immediately and we accepted. Since our downstairs unit had stopped working (thus the need for bids to replace) in the August heat and their installation wasn't available for several days, Howard Air went above and beyond to install a temporary unit within a day so we would have AC until the installation date. Our salesman, Brian, stayed in touch with us all along the way and made sure everything went as planned and on time. On the day of installation, the installers were very professional using shoe covers while in our house and drop clothes everywhere. They worked late into the evening on a very hot day to complete the job, and did an amazing job of cleanup when they were finished. I am very often disappointed with the service of many companies these days, but Howard Air did not disappoint. I highly recommend this company and their products.

Two workmen arrived, one an "apprentice" working with an older gentleman. They inspected the A/C unit and air handling system. They correctly determined that the air handler was getting clogged with pet cats' hair. Their recommendation was that the evaporator coil be removed and chemically cleaned and flushed out. However, they also recommended that the space under the coil (and under the filters for the air return) be sealed off to prevent the cat hair from getting in. This sounded wrong to me, and I checked with a friend of mine who has an HVAC business in Tucson. He told me that sealing off this area would be counter productive. The space under the filter must be open and NOT impede the air return. The cat hair problem would be better solved with frequent replacing of a special filter I could purchase at Graingers. Therefore, I used a different company than Howard Air to do the work. It is more expensive to buy the correct filters from Grainger than from Home Depot, but the results have been very good. We have not had any problems all summer. They were very polite and acted professionally, but I cannot recommend them because of what I believe was a fundamental mistake in advice.

Our N.A.T.E. certified technician that suggested the sealing of the gaps in your underground return area where outside air is entering your home. This is a common service to prevent dust and in your case, cat hair, from being forced through a 1-inch filter and ultimately attacking your indoor coil. This outside clogging your indoor coil was a necessary step in protecting your system. Not to mention improve the indoor air quality in the home. We attempted to contact you twice for clarification and to schedule this service with no success. We pride ourselves on being the experts and provide the necessary education for our customers. The serviceman was prompt, friendly, and professional. He determined the problem, and gave a time estimate to have it fixed. Unfortunately I have a tenant living there and the tenant gave the okay based on the price the serviceman gave which was prior to my arrival. He then proceeded to replace the motor. The next business day I called the company to state that I felt the cost was extremely high. I had called several other Angie's List A-rated companies and asked them what the exact same motor would cost to have installed. Howard Air was $94 higher than the next highest. The Service Manager on duty that I spoke with explained the reason for the price but said he would call me back after researching my concern. It has been a full month and I still have not received the promised call back. I wrote a letter to the owner explaining the above but now a week later I have not heard from him either. I have used Howard Air multiple times for both my residence and my rental. Although the serviceman was professional and did a proper job, the management of the firm did not. I will no longer use Howard Air.

He was professional. They were a little over booked due to the response of the deal but they were able to schedule the service within a reasonable amount of time. There were no issues with the service. I thought they did a good job and I would recommend them.

Bought the promotion online. Schedule appointment. Though we had to reschedule, the company had called a few days before to do so and not wait until the last moment which was good. On the day of the service, the person assigned came to my house and did his work what seemed to be in a very professional matter. The contractor was prompt and competent. Made some minor repairs, but provided some sense of confidence in the HVAC system, while also setting expectations about the future of this older system. I was pleased with the services provided and would definitely consider Howard Air again in the future.

I cannot say enough good things about Howard Air. We called them on a Saturday to come and look at a problem that was not fixed by another company we used. The first company was trying to charge us $440 for a $20 part. We ordered the part ourselves and installed it, it was an easy 10 minute install. After we installed the part which the first company said was the problem, the ac still didn't work. Called Howard, they sent Dave who was timely and professional. After looking at the ac unit, he discovered the other company took a wire off, so no matter what we did, it wouldn't have worked. He installed a new wire, and we now have ac again. Since it was a second opinion, the service charge was $0! This is a 20 year old system we will have to replace within the next couple of months and we will certainly call Howard Air for the new purchase. It is nice to deal with an honest ac company.
Description of Work: Provided a second opinion on some work done by another air conditioning company. We called Howard after we felt we were being ripped off by the first company.

We replaced one HAVC in Jan 2013 and everything was great. Price, Sales, installation. So when we needed second HAVC replacement, without hesitation, contacted Howard Air and installation was done quickly. Then I found that this second HVAC was not working properly (Quality. It was due to one faulty part) and also found that they charged which was not performed (Punctuality) and I asked specific model to be installed but one lower model was installed (Price & Professionalism). When Sales came, I asked to install XB14 but later I checked model # and found that it was XB13 installed. Model # do not tell whether it is XB14 or XB13 so I had no way to check unless I search for it. Tried to contact sales but I had to call several times to correct incorrect charge, and then technician came out, found faulty part, and replaced. (Slow responsiveness)

Member, thank you for taking the time to rate your Howard Air experience. We understand your frustration with a new Trane system failing in the first weeks of its lifespan. To make matters worse the part was on back order from the manufacturer so this prevented a more efficient repair (5 days). However, we must explain the process in which you purchased the system to allow for members to understand the facts. When you purchased the first system in January we offered you a closeout discount on a XB14 we had in inventory. When your second system in August was purchased we did not have this same discount available for the XB14 so we suggested based on your budget for this replacement the XB13 was the best choice. This was clearly stated on your proposal which is also tells a customer what efficiency (SEER) ratings you will be achieving with the new equipment. We never want to be accused of a “bait and switch” type company as we have worked very hard on maintaining integrity as an attribute we are known for in the valley. We hope to achieve a better rating through our highly trained service team and many years of peace of mind you will enjoy with an installation from Howard Air. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you and look forward to serving you in the future.

We bought 2 vouchers after it was all said and done. They were there when they said they would be. I did not hover over their work but can only assume they did a decent job, because we still have air! Only mix up was with billing. I forgot I paid for this deal at time of purchase online right? So the tech asked for payment and I gave him a check . Later I realized I paid online prior to service, so I called Howard Air, they found the credit , but instead of a refund, I just had them service another property I own. They did alright....
