I found them on Angie's List. The work done was under warranty, so I didn't pay anything.

When I called to make the appointment I spoke with Tina. She was very friendly and helpful and got my service scheduled as soon as she could as my units needed summer service and 1 was acting up. Unfortunately when the original service date came the tech scheduled for me was ill and couldn't make it. I spoke with John and Tina and they did everything they could to reschedule me as soon as possible even ended up having a tech come out for me on Saturday. It was very much appreciated and they were very helpful. The tech, Bryan arrived early in the day and was very friendly. He listened to me go over how the system was laid out and very understanding of the fact that I don't know much about A/C units. He took a look at both units, quickly diagnosed the issue with the 1 unit and told me how he could resolve it. He gave me options for the work to be done and discussed what it all meant. After we worked that out he spent awhile doing the repair and maintenance on both units. He was very thorough and I felt he did a great job. He did far more cleaning and testing than I had seen other companies techs do that I had used in the past do. If I were to ever use another company for this sort of maintenance again they will be held to a much higher standard by me after watching the thoughtful and detailed work Bryan did. I'm extremely satisfied with the people I dealt with at Howard Air and would certainly recommend them.

This past April we had Howard Air replace our old rooftop unit. The initial salesperson and installation crew were great. We're very happy with our system for the most part. However, we had discussed placing new returns in two of the bedrooms prior to installation. Our salesperson suggested that we wait and see if that would be necessary because the new ductwork should provide adequate airflow. We agreed since it would save us about $1,000 (quote provided by our salesperson) to avoid having them installed. After a few weeks, we determined that the airflow was not as thorough as we would like so I contacted Howard Air to set up an appointment for the new returns. I spoke with Justin and he quoted a cost of $350 higher for each return than what I was originally quoted. I informed him that we recently had a return installed by their main competitor 8 months prior for much less and the distance (from the unitimpacts the price) was greater than the 2 new returns we wanted installed. He said that he would crunch the numbers and get back to me. That was on June 16th, over two weeks ago and we have yet to receive a reply. Unfortunately the lack of a response has affected our overall opinion of their responsiveness and professionalism.

They were very flexible as our closing date kept getting adjusted, and we did not know exaclty when we would have access to the home. It was very hot over 100 degrees, and the home had a non-working air conditioner. We had to move the Saturday before into the home, and to make it comfortable, they sent a technician out at no charge to get the existing unit working enough so it was somewhat cool. They installed everything and it works wonderfully. I would highly recommend this company. They even installed a water heater when, at the time of the quote, they learned we were looking for one. Now that is flexible! I good brand and it works well too. UPDATE: 9/8/14 We have been attempting to get a quote from Howard Air to expand our system in our Arizona Room. Someone came out, and said they would send us a quote. This was about a month ago. No quote, probably not a huge dollar job. The worst thing is that today, our roof was leaking. We had a new roof installed just prior to Howard AIr installing our new Heat Pump. This morning, huge drops of water were dripping from our living room ceiling, staining the entire ceiling. We called the roofer out. Howard Air stomped all over the roof near the new Heat Pump, and DID NOT SEAL THE HOLES from where the previous unit was mounted. Our roofer just sealed that for us---no charge---I would not recommend Howard Air if you are looking for a reliable contractor.

Scott and all workers called 30 minutes from arrival. They were on time professional and great to have around!
Description of Work: Brand new top of the line Trane A/C. Scott Bird took time to listen to our needs and presented a great option that included all the bells and whistles that we wanted. The quote was in April and we tried to wait until next year, but the a/c went out during the June week we had the 110+ weather. Howard Air came out repaired the a/c, honored the quote from April and installed within a week. It involved replacing how the air came out of the roof-top unit, indoor electronic air and a wifi enabled thermostat and some drywall repair and painting.

Jeff and the other employees arrived ahead of schedule, did an amazing job of removing old a/c and replacing it with a new Trane. I was extremely pleased with their helpful consideration of explaining all details to me and leaving my home clean and neat. Very professional. Couldn't be happier! They are A++++ in my book.

The representative took time to come over and go over all options and explained everything in detail. After discussing with multiple companies I decided I trusted what Howard Air had to say and liked the details they gave me as well. We set up an appointment and the day before received a call reconfirming the appointment. The day of the installers came out and even with one small adjustment needed to be made (day of) they completed the job quickly and efficiently. They took time to explain the features and gave me contact info if I had any problems. Overall great service!

Denis was the service tech and very professional, friendly and precise about cleaning the unit, etc. I ended up buying the service agreement which I thought was reasonable. And, in addition, if something happens to my service throughout the year, I will get sort of special preference because I have a service agreement. This was recommended by my neighborhood group as well as Angie's List and I am very happy I went with Howard Air. Get Denis if you can, but I am sure they are all wonderful. Thanks Angie's List!

Bid was the most complete of any received regarding the details of what they would be doing. The job was performed at the time established. The installation was problem free except for one tem that was scratched. Howard Air came back later and replaced that item. Paperwork for APS rebates was automatically filed by Howard with the rebate amount deducted from the price. Full paperwork was provided at the conclusion of the installation. The areas where work was performed were cleaned-up thoroughly at the completion of the job. Follow-up system check was set up as promised with Howard contacting us to make an appointment. The check up was thorough and performed professionally.
Description of Work: Installed new AC and gas furnace in Oct 2013. Performed a free follow-up system check in March/April 2014

It went okay except for the price.
Description of Work: Howard Air came to tune-up 3 air conditioning units at my home for the special price of $98 each. The serviceman indicated that 5 capacitors needed to be replaced. With the Angie's list discount the price for the capacitors installed totaled $630 Had I checked the price of the capacitors online before I said okay I would have declined and shopped around. My research on the internet put the total cost of the capacitors somewhere around $200, so I paid a steep markup and labor charge for installation that took less than 60 minutes for all five. And that was supposedly with a 10% Angie's list discount and in addition to the $294 for the tune-up service. I would certainly do some price checking next time around before I accept all the A ratings on Angie's list. Also, the serviceman attempted to do a lot of up selling which I did not respond to.

We are very competitive with our pricing but also understand customers are one click away from what could be foggy information. First, we know the brand of parts that are being installed are vital to determining cost; this is why we only install true-tested name brands, not cheaper aftermarket parts. Next, who installs that part and will they warranty this part in case of failure; which we do for every part we install. Lastly, diagnosing of the correct parts with honest intent is hard to find unfortunately in our industry; this is why our N.A.T.E.-certified technicians are paid hourly not commissioned. All these items we feel separate Howard Air from the competition as you can rest assured you were well taken care by one of the best. The project went very well. The installers completed the work as scheduled and clean-up. The new unit (heater side) worked well through-out the winter and continues to operate well (i.e. A/C) in these hot days.

.Contract for service deceptive when it is marked for 2 full years.....but when you have two units that is only one year. When asked was told two full years on everything....guess it's my bad for assuming that meant both units since we were discussing the biannual maintenance of the two units. Have had two other independent contractors out, price quotes much lower, and include fixing the broken valves, which were installed by howard air last time..Thank goodness my contract is now up and I can choose a better company.

Technician was here on the dot at 7 am as promised. did alot of outside testing & attic inspection of handler. came up with the above listed safety/precautionary installations and I agreed. He was very professional in explaining why these items would be helpful to prevent future problems, but not forcefully, so that it was up to me to go with the recommendations or not. There was no pressure and no sales pitch, which I appreciated!

He did the tune up for me. I live in a 3 story building where the A/C unit is on the roof, so I asked him to take a picture of the unit so that I am able to visualize the work that he did. He said that my system should be good for the next few years. He was on time, however we did have to reschedule. The first time he came, he did not have a ladder high enough. (This was not a problem for me to reschedule) The same gentleman came back the second time with the correct equipment. He also came in to talk about the price to replace my thermostat. I ended up purchasing my own thermostat and installing it for cheaper than he quoted. I like the fact that they offer a 5 year, no interest program for when I do need to get a new system.

First appointment tech was professional and timely. Second appointment to do the work they didn't show up during the entire 4 hour window they gave. When I called "the technician is running late". And unfortunately he won't be able to complete the three hours of work scheduled for you today. Rescheduled appointment for another day, had to take off work. Work completed, transaction for fees run, and slip signed. A month later received a phone call following up from Nicole.....returned her call, which she never returned, until today, a month later. Called back placed on hold for 7 minutes. Gave up. Called back to hear Nicole say she never knew I was on hold, nor that I had returned previous calls. States transaction fees didn't go through, "I am re-running your credit card" and hung up. Terrible customer service, and responsiveness to customers. I am soooooooooooo sad I signed a two year agreement for service. Will be a long 730 days. Wouldn't recommend them just for terrible customer service. Work performed seems okay...so far but it is only June in Arizona.

Salesman showed up on time to give estimate on replacing a/c + heat system. Took quite some time to tell me how great he & the company were in the a/c field. Prepared me for a high price by mentioning how difficult it would be to replace. Never did get an estimate/quote nor heard from him nor company again.

We received a call from the company to schedule the appointment. The person making the appointment was professional and efficient. The soonest appointment available was nearly a month after the day we made the appointment. When time came for our appointment, they called our contact phone number and showed up promptly. We had issues with a leak in the A/C system being inspected, and the technician had to add nearly 8 pounds of Freon, the price was fairly high at $76.50 per pound but within norms for the retail A/C service market (raw R-22 costs around $10 per pound). The technician also informed us the startup capacitor was weak and recommended a replacement. We asked the technician to do a leak check, and he located our leak quickly. To fix the leak would require replacement of the evaporator, a fairly expensive part, located in the attic air handler. He indicated that Howard Air would research to see if a there were alternatives and if the part would be covered by warranty. I elected to have the technician replace the startup capacitor. The technician was able to research prices and provide real time quotes, and even generated my invoice all electronically before leaving. Overall I was impressed by the efficiency, knowledge and friendliness of the technician. The price for Freon replacement seemed high, but fairly typical in the Phoenix area during the summer months. I received a call back from Howard Air about a week later, indicating the repair part would be covered under warranty, and that the only cost would be for labor.
Description of Work: Checked the A/C, added Freon, performed a leak check and replaced the compressor startup capacitor.

As always, Howard Air and their techs were great! I purchased my unit about 4 years ago from Howard Air and they were awesome. So I decided Howard Air was my AC company. I subsequently purchase a 2-yr maintenance package (4 visits) from them and that agreement was finished when this Deal popped up. And the "deal" I purchased was a great deal! Normally their system tune-ups cost about $100. Scheduling the appointment was easy and their staff was friendly as always. The tech called about 20 mins before he arrived. When he arrived he was friendly, professional and got right to work. There was one small problem that I discovered after the appointment which the company promptly addressed. Since I had the spring maintenance done early this year, I hadn't actually used the AC prior to this appointment. So when I did turn the AC on a day later, the unit kept turning on and off. When I called the company to explain the problem I was surprised when I got a bit of an attitude from the woman who I spoke with. In all my dealings with Howard Air I have always been treated like I was their favorite customer! After a couple of minutes the woman, seemed a bit nicer and she asked when I wanted someone to come back out to look at the unit, yet that day or the next day. Making a tech available like that was a very pleasant surprise because I know they are always busy. When the tech arrived the next day, he quickly discovered the problem (a repair that Howard Air had performed during the winter tune-up left the system over-charged) and the resolution was quickly and professionally performed. This tech apologized for the problem and explained that he hadn't let the system run long enough to identify the problem when he was here for the original tune-up. I appreciated his honestly explanation of the situation even though I believe that me not running the AC system at all prior to the maintenance contributed to the oversight. Every experience I have with Howard Air confirms for me that Howard Air is the ONLY company I will call for my home AC/heating needs.

I went out for five quotes. Three from Angies list and two of Google. Howard air came in recommended of Angie's list. They were the middle bidder and did the work they said the would do. Since updating my unit my electric bill has dropped over 35 with most of it attributed to a quiet 16.2 ser Carrier air conditioner. When the project was done the salesmen came back to inspect. There was some work he was not happy with and had a guy come back for an hour to make changes. Then the repair guy sent pictures of the changes to the salesman who then approved the job. At first I thought the salesman was a slick willy but after talking to him and comparing his services compared to others I realized this guy knew his stuff. I am an Engineer I can be very particular about the services and would highly recommend Howard Air.
Description of Work: Replaced 14 year old 5 ton air conditioner.
