They came out and were able to determine there was no problem. They were able to pinpoint a few problems that would affect the temperature of different rooms, and we will address those as time goes on.

Overall, no issues with the work performed. The person was on time, professional, courteous and knowledgable. The only problem was the price. I had already paid for the basic package to do a diagnostic, he said the thermostat was not controlling the AC properly, and then swapped it out with another one I had. To do this, he charged me $225, which I thought was excessive, since I'd already paid for the diagnostic separately and I provided the replacement thermostat.

Service was fine. They were able to fix the problem. The only issue that I ran into was, after purchasing the big deal, the way it was set up was that they were supposed to be contacting me to follow up on it. Certain amount of time went by and I never heard anything from them. So I had to call Angie's list to find out what I needed to do and it sounded like a person from Angie's list is following up with the vendor. I was pushed to the point of asking for a refund because I never got any calls on it. Then I contacted Howard Air directly. After then conversation I had with them, they send someone the next day. The issue was resolved and they were very responsive and people who came out were very knowledgeable. The job was considerably more expensive than what the big deal covered. The deal covered only the diagnostic part and there was definitely some work to be done. They did a very good job with it and I was very pleased. I would probably call them back again. Other than the communication gap, I was very happy. Their pricing was very much on the higher side than the other suppliers. So before hiring them, I would first get an estimate and compare it with the other companies and then I would take a decision on using them.

I have four units so it is $69 maintenance for each unit. They gave me great because I got furnace from them and then I serviced all my units through them and then I got through Angie's List. They did good service, prompt, courteous and they seem to know what they are doing. They are ethical like I used another service person and it is the worst company I ever dealt with. I would use them again in the future.

I was not extremely pleased with the work. What the guy did was not of high quality. what he did was wrap it up sloppily with duct tape. it was not great. The scheduling was fine but the work was sub standard.
Description of Work: He came out and basically inspected everything and he offered to reseal everything. The work was for the AC.

This was a positive experience with everyone I encountered with Howard Air. During my initial phone call the person who answered the phone was polite and very helpful. The sales person, Steve Kenyon was professional, knows heating/ac, educated us and helped us choose an appropriate system. The installers, Jeff and Jimmy were punctual, professional, did a fantastic installation job. So far I am pleased with every aspect of my encounter with Howard Air. Such good service is refreshing these days!!! Highly recommended!!!!

The service was good. If he had checked that the first time he came out, I would have saved the $70 or $80 for the service call. It was easy to get an appointment and they showed up on time. They were professional and courteous.
Description of Work: I had purchased a big deal for Howard Air. The big deal was $78 for a heating or cooling diagnostic service. I ordered it when my house got struck by lightning, and my AC went, and he came and fixed the AC at an additional cost. The AC and heating is one and the same unit, and he came out and fixed the Ac, but when I went to turn on the heat, the same problem happened, and he came out and fixed that, and charged me for the service call.

They spent less time trying to sell me on services as opposed to providing me with helpful information on what needed to be done which I really appreciated. Furthermore, they did a great job without leaving a mess, they completed the work on schedule, and they were friendly as well as professional.

The service went well. I found it difficult to believe the unit had so many problems so I contacted a second company for a second opinion. They verified the unit did need the work that suggested originally. The unit was installed properly but there was a manufacturer defect. I tried contacting the manufacturer for about 2 months to see if I could get some compensation but never got through to them. The other AC company I had contacted was not able to help me. Howard Air went to the manufacturer themselves to resolve the issue and got a whole new unit installed perfectly for me. They did an excellent job and went above and beyond for me. I would give them an A+ if I could.

The service went well. They did exactly what the deal stated. They checked everything out and made adjustments to the unit. The unit works just fine now. Two technicians came out and completed the job in less than an hour. They were professional and I had confidence in what they were doing was what we needed. This was for a rental property. They had to come back as they didn't instale it correctly the first time. Once it was installed correctly, it has been working fine. I had to call the service tech multiple times to pay them. They were ok, prices were reasonable and they were very responsive at the begining.

The technician diagnosed a leak in the coil of our heat pump and recommended either a replacement coil or replacing the unit altogether. The experience with the technician was fine enough except that we were charged full price despite telling the person on the initial call and the technician that we were Angie's List members and had chosen their company because of the online coupon for 10% off. The technician said he would change the amount from $277.00 to $249.30 (10% off the total), but my card was charged for the full amount anyway. Still, I understand that mistakes happen and I didn't grow really frustrated until I called and spoke with the billing clerk (after several minutes of holding). I explained what had happened and she asked if I had "proven" to the technician that I was an Angie's List member. I explained to her that I wasn't physically present at the house and our interaction was all done over the phone. She informed me that they would give me the discount, but the discount would only be $17 or $18 instead of the $27.70 quoted by the technician. I told her that I did not authorize any charges above $249.30, to which she replied, "what would you like me to do?" Seriously? Clearly, I wanted her to refund the amount I was charged in excess of the quoted/authorized amount. She finally acquiesced and said I'd be issued a refund in the next 24-48 hours "as long as the technician confirms my story", but it was very poor customer service on her part. I really hope someone counsels her on how to treat the customer, especially when they are considering spending several thousand dollars with the company and she wants to make an issue over $10. I was all lined up to spend at least $2,400 for the repair or possibly even replace the entire system for several thousand dollars more. However, now I am rethinking whether this is a company I want to do more business with. I think I'll get a second opinion. She wanted "proof" that I was an Angie's List member. Well, here you go.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a refrigerant leak in a heat pump. Recommended either replacing the coil or replacing the entire unit.

Quick response. Initial impression very positive, but the longer I worked with the salesman the more I felt like I was dealing with an auto dealership in terms of sales tactics. Install team did not honor salesman timeline. Bottom line, after the dotted line was signed I felt like just one more small customer in a big company. A smaller, more local provider called after I had signed with Howard and actually quoted a better price, but I do not renege. I will never know, but I feel like I would have been happier elsewhere.

We quickly responded to your call of a home that your son resided in and did not have cooling. Service tech arrived as scheduled and after some questions and answers and showing where the thermostat was located he proceeded to gather his tools and went up to the roof. Afterwards, he said the equipment is in good working condition. Polite and friendly. Will utilize their services again.

We have several things that separate Howard Air from all the other contractors in the valley, and our exclusive "Temp Comfort Program" is a popular one. We created this program to ensure no one goes without heat or cooling, especially in our two brutal seasons. This program is offered when a new system is purchased which includes a temporary fix to a broken down system, while an installation is being coordinated. We believe that when a company rushes an installation the customer is the one that suffers in the end. We have a custom sheet metal fabrication shop that will build all metal parts and that should not be rushed for sake of outside temperatures. It was fine. My husband dealt with them. He said he did the service and that everything went fine. He tried to sell some other things but we didn't buy them. Everything went fine. He answered my husband's questions. We have some vents and we weren't sure what they were for and they told him what they were about. He came on time and he answered my husband's questions.
Description of Work: It was a "Big Deal" purchase.
